The location and historic atmosphere made this a perfect place to have our wedding reception. Everyone who worked there was extremely helpful and added an extra special feeling to our day.
I really enjoyed the Depot as our wedding space. They provided the chairs and tables and set-up the space based on our floor plan. We rented the space for the whole day, from 9a-10p, and they provided a host who helped us rearrange, clean up spills, and direct outside traffic. The building itself is open and noises echo easily inside, so our DJ wasn't thrilled and the party got loud (not exactly a bad thing). No noise from next door or outside though! Couldn't even hear a train pass while inside.
The only downfall was the extra "getting ready" space. We had both our ceremony and reception here, but there was no place for the wedding party to be prior to the ceremony. We ended up putting on final touches in an upstairs women's bathroom and signing the marriage certificate in the stairwell.
Overall great experience, wouldn't change much!
The staff worked really hard to accomodate our needs, and it was a really unique place to have a wedding. VERY affordable, they provide a sound system, pipe and draping curtains to hide parts of the biuilding, if you wish, and if you don't mind metal folding chairs (I DID mind, but didn't have a choice :/) you can use thiers free of charge, and they will handle set up and take down for no extra fee. I believe they will also set up rented chairs. It was really nice working with them. My photographer also got some stunning pictures here!
Everyone was super friendly at The Depot Museum. Everything was great except Kalina, the girl that handles all the reservations is still a little new and doesn't completely have everything down yet. She kept mis-reading the map that she helped me come up with for setting up the venue, and also was confused about the liquor permits and permissions that she required me to get before booking it all.
When you think of weddings cost is the first thing that comes to mind. This is probably the only venue with great style (art deco) and sense of permanence because of the age and history of the building. I was surprised to find out that this is the least expensive wedding venue in the area, and it provided things like use of a sound system, and tables and chairs already setup. The staff was very helpful and make the booking easy.
The determining factor in choosing the depot over other places was the flexibility to run the party late if needed. This wasn't an option for us at the community house.
The Depot is a great open space with room for EVERYTHING. I had my ceremony and reception with the space. The space although open is defined with the arches in the ceiling and the floor tiles. The staff knows what to expect from many vendors and how to set up for different events. It is reasonably priced and centrally located in downtown Cheyenne.
One thing that is wrong on the listing here is that they dont allow outside catering--they do. And the "kitchen" space is wonderful for a buffet set up. It is out of the way but convenient to guests. I would highly recommend this site for your wedding. This history of the building alone got my interested, but the beauty of it sold me.
Downfalls- It is a train depot and next to well--train tracks, so occasionally it can be loud.
