Chris Moncus Photography

Chris and his wife/assistant Amanda were a dream to work with. I had seen their candid/documentary style work online and knew that I wanted to work with them. The fact that they had photographed weddings at our venue before--The Beachview Club on Jekyll Island--was extremely important to us because of the lighting challenges that the venue could have presented, between outdoor shadowing and a dimly lit reception tent. Their flexibility when bad weather hit was awesome and accomodating. They provide you with a very in-depth survey prior to your wedding to make sure they hit every possible shot you want to have on the big day, and Chris followed up with me the next day for clarifications on some items I had included. When you see articles online like "50 Photos You MUST Have!", Chris and Amanda nailed them. Also, I had heard plenty of horror stories about couples that don't get their proofs for months after the wedding. I asked Chris for a sample to use as a wedding announcement, and got my full set of high-resolution, edited digital proofs back within two weeks--they were categorized in the online gallery! I've never heard of that level of speedy return. As a bonus, during the reception dinner, Chris provided my husband and I with an ipad slideshow of images he had already shot and uploaded from just hours before. Can you say, "People pleaser?!" Not only was it a great sample, but the unedited images were spectacular--this guy knows his way around a camera. Chris and Amanda were just great to work with, and I can't say enough. Our images were phenomenal, despite weather conditions that definitely could have put a cramp on our options and the quality of the work. In terms of pricing, I will say that Chris was probably the best in the area for the skill level involved, but that still is a bit higher than many amounts you may be quoted for less desireable locations than the Golden Isles. I would say that what we paid ($2400 for six hours of service, rights of reproduction not included) was absolutely worth it for two skilled photographers and definitely a great price for the product they provide. We ended up paying a bit more for our total photography package than we had budgeted on the hunch that Chris was worth it, and I can say that it definitely paid off. No amount of money I could have saved would have been worth choosing another photographer.
