We got married here in October 2024. We originally found the venue thanks to a friend who was getting married there. We booked our date in January of 2023, notably the venue did have some major upgrades that were completed between our booking time and our actual wedding date, which is noted as a possibility in the contract, but we personally loved all the changes that were made.
One major perk are "The Pinterest Rooms" that include a variety of decorations that can be used at no additional cost. This was a great way to save money and not be stuck with all of the decorations to deal with after the wedding. They were also very accommodating in allowing us to come out to the venue multiple times ahead of the wedding to look at rotating items that were available to plan for day of decorations.
Another perk is the farmhouse onsite that is available to stay at. It was super convenient to be able to stay there the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. We also had our pets in the wedding, two cats and a dog. All of the pets were allowed to stay at the farmhouse with us overnight and it was great to be able to have a comfortable place for them to hang out during our reception.
All of the staff was great to interact with, they can sometimes be slow in responses via email but were almost always quick to respond via text message. On the day of the wedding their staff was professional and helpful.
Something to be aware of is that the cellphone service can be spotty there so just make sure to plan ahead for that.
Overall, we would definitely recommend Chrisman Manor as a wedding venue!
Chrisman Manor is a hidden gem. They are so accommodating and their communication is the best. You can email or text them any question you may have and they will respond so quickly. They don’t require you to use specific vendors (but they recommend some of the best!) You can bring your own alcohol, use whatever caterer you want, and choose how you want the room layout to look. They have beautiful, shaded spots for pictures outside. Their pond is gorgeous for an outdoor ceremony but they also have a chapel room if you prefer an indoor ceremony. The getting ready suite was so fun and comfortable. Overall, they are the best to work with and I would recommend it to everybody looking for a gorgeous venue!
We loved Chrisman Manor so much!!! From our first visit and tour with Kyrstan we knew we wanted to get married here! We were between dates but ended up scheduling our NYE wedding which was a blast! We loved having the Pinterest closet to explore and help with our decorating budget. We were able to come in multiple times in order to set up tables to know what else we needed for decor. Kyrstan was very laid back and able to answer all of our questions and suggestions which allowed us to be less stressed about our big day. We were able to have our rehearsal Thursday night no problem and even with the snowy weather coming in Kyrstan was very understanding and accommodating with clean up! Would hands down recommend getting married here I loved having everything in one location! Girls were able to get ready upstairs and the boys were able to get dressed and hang out in the farmhouse! Pictures turned out absolutely beautiful near the pond and using their vintage couch outside!! We enjoyed being so close to Lawrence as well with that country feeling still!
Absolutely terrible customer service. When we talked to Kyrstan 1 year before our wedding to book our venue, she told us we would have the entire venue to ourselves for the entire weekend. 4 months before the wedding she informed us that she booked a wedding the day after, which completely ruined a lot of plans our guests had. We even had this written in our contract and she refused to honor it. She put us in a position to either litigate the matter and push our wedding another year (with $5k in additional costs) or deal with it. (We had already been planning our wedding for 2 years to find a place that would allow us to have the venue all weekend.) We negotiated down a couple hundred dollars, and she "promised she wouldn't push us out." But at 11:15 I had guests coming to me freaking out because they were throwing away all our stuff. Many guests also told me that Kyrstan was rude while cleaning around them; however, I was not there for that. I had many guests up and leave because of this. If your venue is important to you, and you don't want to be rushed the night of your wedding, DO NOT BOOK CHRISMAN MANOR!!!!
From our first day of contact, Kyrstan has been amazing! She promptly and happily answers questions--she and her team allowed us to make a major date change without penalizing us or charging extra. (not sure they can always do this--but we gave them 9 months notice, so it worked out) I'm just thrilled to be have a venue that will work with you when a need arrises.
The property is stunning and romantic--has every. feature you can dream of. GO CHECK IT OUT! Best value in KC area for a stunning rustic wedding & reception all in one place.
Thank you Chrisman Manor!
Oh. My. Gosh. Chrisman Manor is a dream venue! Modern but Rustic. Elegant but also a cattle farm! Unfortunately we couldn't use the beautiful outdoor area for the ceremony due to heavy rainfall in the days leading up to my wedding but never fear there was a beautiful rustic but modern chapel with BEAUTIFUL wood beam ceilings and chandeliers! The reception room is perfect for about 150-175 people and also has nice chandeliers, beautiful paneled walls, and a modern but rustic feel. There's also a nice built in bar perfect for an open bar or the traditional beer/wine route. The bridal suite is also to die for. It is HUGE, beautifully furnished, has a mini fridge, a full bathroom with a shower, and plenty of space to get ready. I had 6 bridesmaids and numerous people coming in and out while we were getting ready and we had plenty of space! Chrisman also has a room full of decorations (candles, vases, jars, wood slabs, ribbons/fabrics, lanterns, etc.) from previous weddings that you can use to decorate, which saved us a ton of money!
Krystan, the owner, is super easy to work with, very flexible, organized, professional, and is always looking for ways to keep her beautiful venue updated and modern! During the time of our engagement alone they did numerous renovations including adding a back patio with lighting and a fire pit, and adding a photo booth with props! Krystan was always fast to get back with me when I texted her numerous times with all sorts of questions! She let us bring in our own caterer and alcohol but provided a bartender (who was great!) last minute as ours backed out, which was super great! She also let us have ALL DAY the Friday before the wedding to decorate so we barely had to do a thing on Saturday! She also let us have the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at Chrisman Manor which also helped us save on money.
Everything was wonderful with this venue and I can't say enough great things about Krystan or the venue! Truly a magical venue and perfect for the modern but rustic bride!
Chrisman Manor is an absolute dream to work with! Kyrstan is so laid back and easy going, making wedding plan much easier. The venue is beautiful, the owner is realistic, and the ability to have both a ceremony and reception in one place is difficult to find.
We got married her last October. I would still choose this place again and again. Not only was it beautiful, but it was easy. Being able to have the venue all weekend, and the HUGE room full of awesome decorations made this part of the wedding a breeze. The bridal suite was wonderful to get ready in and the outside ceremony was a dream come true. Love Chrisman Manor!
Amazing venue. Gorgeous location. Perfect for a smaller wedding. Loved having the option of having an indoor or outdoor ceremony. Kyrstan is amazing to work with. She was flexible and easy to communicate with.
I cannot say enough nice things about Chrisman Manor! I really wanted an outdoor ceremony, however my husband was determined we have a back-up plan in case of bad weather. Chrisman Manor was exactly what we were looking for - a beautiful outdoor space, an indoor chapel if needed, and a separate, elegant room for the reception. Krystan was incredibly easy to work with and quick to respond to calls, texts, and emails. We were able to visit the venue multiple times prior to the ceremony and use any of the decorations left from previous events. We had around 160 people at our wedding and feel this was a good number to comfortably fit in the main reception room. We brought in our own alcohol and hired two bartenders from the venue who were very affordable and friendly throughout the night. Kyrstan was flexible about accessing the venue so we had ample time to set up the day before and day of as well as clean up the following day. We are so grateful to have found a venue as laid back as Chrisman Manor which made planning a wedding as easy as possible!
This venue is exactly what I envisioned for my wedding day. A beautiful farm setting for an outdoor ceremony. The barn/ballroom isn't like the rest of 'em though! It's beautifully renovated with chandeliers, cement floors, and a chapel. You can really dress this place up or dress this place down to your liking! I loved being able to get married outside at a farm, but I didn't feel like everyone needed to be wearing cowboy boots to fit in :) The bridal suite was out of this world! The enormous bridal suite was out of this world. I worked with Kyrstan the whole time. She was very accommodating and knowledgeable. I could text her whenever and ask if it was okay to make a trip out to the manor (which I did several times, lol- thank you!) We had 200 people show up to our wedding, and I was nervous about fitting everyone inside. However, we were fortunate to beautiful weather and everyone LOVED new patio! Perfect night for lawn games, sparklers, and dancing. Most of our friends and family traveled from Kansas City, and noone mentioned the drive- they only mentioned how beautiful of a venue it was. I can't tell you how many times someone asked me "how did you get lucky enough to find this place!?" I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for this setting!
This was the most perfect venue for us! The owners are very flexible and helpful! They were willing to work with us to make the day perfect and to decorate the venue to make it our own! The outdoor wedding area is beautiful and I have some beautiful pictures! I couldn't have asked for a better venue!
Our wedding at Chrisman Manor was nothing short of amazing! The manor itself was simple yet elegant and was the perfect size for our party! The chapel is small but intimate so it made the ceremony even more special. The reception hall is beautiful with the chandeliers and bar. Kyrstan is so easy to work with and replied to all of my texts and emails right away! The bridal suite was so much fun to spend the whole day in with all of my bridesmaids and hair/makeup people. And the food...the food was unbelievable! We used Chrisman Manor's suggested caterer J. Michael's Catering and had some of the best Mexican food we've ever had! All of the guests were blown away by how great the food was and kept telling us they've never had better food at a wedding than they had at ours. I'm so thankful for how smoothly everything went and grateful to Chrisman Manor for how wonderful our wedding was!!
The location of Chrisman is beautiful; set on a small farm in the country, it has a real intimate feel. My husband and I are private people and didn't like the idea of being a spectacle in a park or crowded city so we liked the idea of the country for our wedding. We live in Lawrence, which is about 20 minutes away from the venue, so the location was great. The outside is a nice green area which overlooks rolling hills, a small pond and an area where cattle graze, a truly 'rusic' setting. In contrast, the stark white venue interior adds a sense of elegance to the place. White french paneled walls line the room with hanging iron chandeliers and big bright windows that let in natural light. My favorite perks about the place were the staff (I couldn't say enough nice things about them) and the fact that it's a two-day rental for both Friday and Saturday! We decorated the night before and woke up hassle-free the next day for the actual wedding, it was a completely stress-free experience. The venue also has an indoor wedding chapel which is another huge perk being in Kansas. The upstairs bridal suite (which is huge!) connects onto a storage unit with lots of candles, vases and other decorations- a plus for the budget-friendly bride!
First I want to say because there was no selection, we had this as our venue and also our catering and bar through here. Even before we signed our contracts Kyrstan was fabulous!!! She was always at the ready when I needed to ask her all my silly stupid questions. They were there on my wedding day to make sure everything was in order and the way that I wanted it to be. The venue itself it's GORGEOUS. Whether you do an outdoors wedding or indoors it is truly beautiful. They have an actual cattle farm there on the property down a hill which makes for some really cool and unique wedding shots! As a bride one of my favorite parts was the bridal suite. It was almost the size of a one bedroom apartment. It is gorgeous will shower and massive bathroom and plenty of room to get ready. I had at least 15 women upstairs at all times getting ready or just hanging out! Very big open spaces and very classy! I wanted a classy rustic wedding and I got just that! If you do the catering through them we had the BBQ and oh my lanta it was stupendous! I am from Kansas City and we take our BBQ seriously and this was delicious. Everything was wonderful with this location and I can't say enough great things about the people, the service, the food and the location! Everyone was so helpful and truly helped make my day a smooth and perfedct day.
I had my wedding here in March of 2014, and absolutely loved the manor. The inside of the manor was just perfect for my rustic themed wedding and the owners were so helpful and even gave me decorating advice. The rental price was great and the price of the food was decent. The only complaint would be that the landscape outside was pretty poor, but the wedding was in winter so it was understood. Would definitely recommend them!
