Very disappointed. We had a wedding at city cellar for about 120 people. There was one bartender, the line was through all of the tables. (we paid $40 per head for liquor) Some of my guests actually went to the restaurant bar and purchased drinks. The banquet manager screwed up our original contract and refused to make good on it. He promised he wouldn't "screw us" but needed to revise the contract. Well, some how there was only passed hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour, no other food. At the end of the night he charged us over $2000 extra for going over the time limit. The dinner was mediocre. It was very embarrassing.
City Cellar hosted our first wedding reception when COVID ruined our wedding plans. They were so easy to work with, the food was excellent, and the smaller dinner party made us incredibly happy.
The only complaint was that they didn't save / give us any of our wedding cake to bring home.
This vendor/venue has nothing but unprofessional people working in their establishment. I contacted the venue to book an engagement party multiple ways I attempted contact (email, voice messages), without any response. The coordinator was always unavailable. Finally I asked to speak with the Manager, his name is James. He was of no help at all and it almost felt as if this was his first time being or playing a manger. He made excuses for his new event coordinator, Christi's non-professionalism. After speaking with this waste of my time manager I then was put on the phone with the coordinator who had not a clue of what type of event I was attempting to book even though she said she was reading from the notes that had been left for her. Meanwhile I sent emails!! Not only did they not have the day that I was requesting they magically had my alternate date with a maximum of 48 people when I requested 50. Does this not sound odd? The only reason I even thought to book this place is because my sister raved about the event coordinator Jessica! I was informed that Jessica was no longer with them from the FIRST DAY MANAGER JAMES!!! I feel as though the name MECCA that was attached to the messages was the reason for the poor attention and non-professionalism I was subjected to. I would NEVER SUGGEST ANYONE BOOK HERE!!!!
We had our rehearsal dinner at City Cellar. The food and service was really great. I brought in a CD of a photo montage a week before and it was up and playing before I got there. The first thing that threw me off, however, was that first our group (of 45 people!) entered the restaurant and was then told to please go through the patio to the private room, and then when we went through the patio, they told us to go through the main restaurant. When you have this many people, it was quite a cluster! I figured that was just a minor confusion and put that aside. However, I was pretty upset about one thing. What made us really fall in love with the room was the patio attached that we were told when we booked in January and AGAIN when I went in a week before that our party alone would have private access to. That was really the reason we decided on City Cellar. We thought how nice that would be, to be able to have a drink and for the guys to smoke a cigar on the patio on a summer night. When I entered the room, however, I saw that the patio was completely filled with people. I asked immediately what the situation was, and was given some roundabout answer about how they had to readjust that. Whatever, I wasn't going to let myself get stressed the night before my wedding, but I was annoyed because my father-in-law spent a lot of money on City Cellar, and the main reason we loved it was the outdoor access, which at the last minute was taken away. All in all, I have to say that the food and service were great.
