We understand how personal and emotional wedding days are, and it’s always our goal to contribute positively to the joy and celebration of each couple’s big day. I’ve personally spent considerable time reviewing everything related to your July 13th reception. This included speaking with your DJ, reviewing planning notes, revisiting calls and correspondence, and watching video footage from the night.
We appreciate you sharing your thoughts as well as Rachel's from earlier this year.
From the beginning, Scott—who is one of our most seasoned and requested DJs—approached your celebration with the same care, enthusiasm, and professionalism he brings to every event. Our website makes it clear that we offer timeline guidance and creative suggestions to help ensure your event flows smoothly. We understand that feedback on logistics, even when offered with the best intentions, can sometimes feel personal—especially during a stressful planning period. If any suggestions came across as overstepping, we sincerely regret that and wish it had been brought to our attention sooner so we could have addressed it constructively at the time.
What has been especially difficult in this situation is the nature of the conversations that occurred after your wedding. We strive to handle every concern with grace and transparency, but some of the communication we received included verbal attacks and ultimatums that made it very challenging to have a respectful dialogue. We even offered a full refund as a gesture of goodwill—despite seeing video evidence of a packed dancefloor, happy guests, and even a smiling photo of both of you with Scott at the end of the night. That offer was declined, and instead, demands were made for the termination of one of our employees.
While we always want to improve, we also have a responsibility to stand by our team when a complaint is not supported by facts. We've worked hard over the past 25+ years to build a company known for excellence and kindness, and while we understand we won’t be the right fit for everyone, we do remain proud of the energy, dedication, and joy our team—Scott included—brings to every celebration.
We genuinely wish you both happiness in your marriage and in all your future endeavors. And we remain committed to learning, listening, and continuing to grow as a team.

After receiving your feedback, I personally reviewed all details related to your July 13th celebration — including communications with your DJ, timeline planning notes, and video footage from the evening. I also spoke with the venue to clarify a few of the concerns that were later raised.
While I sincerely regret that this collaborative planning style may not have been the right fit for you, it’s unfortunate that the concerns were not brought to our attention until weeks after the event. Had we been made aware sooner, we would have welcomed the opportunity to listen and adjust.

He played all of our requests and even convinced the wedding venue staff to let us stay for an extra 30 minutes to keep dancing. ter of ceremonies he kept us on schedule and made sure that the whole cocktail and reception ran smoothly. As a DJ, he was able to expertly read the room, create an audible experience and keep the momentum going. CJ was exceptional at understanding what type of experience we wanted at our wedding and then stayed true to that vision.
One of my husband’s cousins who has downs kept asking for CJ to play Gangnam Style during the reception. This song wasn’t on our do not playlist but it also wasn’t exactly the ideal song for what we wanted. CJ could just tell that this song could be a game changer for this cousin and for that side of the family. He found us and asked us what we wanted to do and we quickly came up with a game plan. When the song came on, it was an immediate hit and my husband’s cousin and the whole family was living it up on the dance floor. It was a perfect moment of CJ knowing what we wanted from a music perspective, but also knowing when to intervene to create memorable experiences for the guests. The fact that he went the extra step to confirm with us and kept our perspective/wants top of mind showed his excellent judgement as a DJ.

to. He was very knowledgeable and sounded like he truly cared about clients. My fiance instantly liked and trusted him as well when we had our first meeting with Chris. We had to push back our original wedding date due to covid and he was very flexible and easy to work with. Then a few days before our re-scheduled date our venue was shut down again due to covid and we had to completely re-plan in just a few days. Chris went above and beyond to help us make sure our day was perfect. We were flying by the seat of our pants but no one could tell because Chris was there helping keep everything on track, running smoothly, and thinking ahead all while keeping our guests entertained. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ and Master of Ceremonies than Chris, and we couldn't have pulled off our big day without him!

res for our wedding reception, CJ also had the years of expertise and experience we were looking for to make sure the evening was perfect!
An easy example I can think of:
We provided our list of requested songs of varying priorities to be played over the course of the night, as is custom. We had a nice mix of fast, slow, etc. But as the evening went on, our guests were not getting off of that dance floor! CJ made the call to not play as many of the 'slower' songs and instead focused on high-energy beats to keep everyone up and moving!
Some of you might not like that call, but my wife and I had established very early on with CJ that we wanted it to be a party, and we were thrilled with it! He had the experience to make that call; in lieu of meeting our song requests verbatim, he kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night, which was our MAIN goal.
If you wish to be a little more 'strict' with your reception, I know for a fact CJ and his staff will absolutely meet whatever guidelines you establish. We trusted in his years of entertainment expertise to make the right call for what we were looking for, and he absolutely delivered.

eeting we met Chris, the owner, and he asked so many great questions. We immediately felt like we had finally found our DJ but we struggled because they were outside of our budget of $800.00. For the next week we continued to talk to other companies but none of them were close to CJs. We decided to blow our DJ budget and put our faith in them and WOW we hit the jackpot.
We got an email every month keeping us on schedule & Chris's personal cell for those moments we needed advice. He helped us with the other vendors we needed and was full of great suggestions.
We met our DJ Scott about 45 days before the wedding and he was AWESOME. He was just the right amount of Funny & Serious. We laughed most of our meeting and knew we were in good hands.
The day of the wedding Scott was on top of his game. The timeline went without a hitch, he kept us informed & gave us plenty of notice before we were needed. The Dancefloor was packed all night and Scott had everyone dancing and celebrating. I can't imagine our wedding without Scott, he was truly INCREDIBLE. If you need a DJ who cares about you and your guests, Scott is your guy. It cost us a $400 more than we budgeted but Scott made our wedding worth way more in return.

leaving there thinking WOW! He was so down to earth, so personable, and extremely professional. We enjoyed his sense of humor and admired his attention to detail. It was safe to say our search for the perfect DJ was over after that day. Chris really took the time to get to know the two of us and understand our story and what we expected from him on our wedding day! Prior to the wedding day Chris suggested I record a special letter to my grandpa that he incorporated with the song I walked down the aisle to. It was incredibly special and something I will cherish and be able to have forever! During the planning process Chris was easy to get ahold of and always there for any questions we had. He also had several suggestions for other wonderful vendors. While this whole process of planning a wedding can be overwhelming and stressful at times, his online planner was super convenient and easy to navigate!
On our wedding day, Chris was very engaging and had total control and attention of our guests. That was super important for us! While you hope things go accordingly on your big day of course there were things that didn’t and Chris was quick on his feet and able to make last minute adjustments. He was interactive with our guests and kept the dance floor full and dancing all night! Our reception was an absolute blast.
He was always there for Jordan and I and just super attentive! We really appreciate Chris and all of his hard work! He is so talented, and went above and beyond for us. While he was our DJ, he felt like so much more on our wedding day and we will be forever grateful!
We had several compliments from our guests about how amazing Chris was. Everything was flawless! He was a huge part of why our day was nothing shy of perfect.

Our DJ, Ryan, was the absolute best. I had so many compliments at the end of my reception on how great the music was. It was easy to put a playlist/suggestion list together for him...
and he was so incredibly easy to work with day-of. It was also great that he has so much experience at various venues around St. Louis that we didn’t have to give very many instructions at all on how/where/when to set up. He kept our dance floor going the whole night, and we were so glad we had him there. If you have the option, we highly recommend using CJ’s Disc Jockey Service and requesting Ryan for your special day!

d plenty of event staff, he was the most attentive person there. He checked on us during the dinner, he assisted my husband's elderly father in getting into his seat and even tied a napkin around his neck (at his request :)). He is incredibly kind, and will go above and beyond to get you exactly the experience that you want. Chris takes the time to try and get to know you as a couple through personal meetings as well as a wedding questionnaire. My husband and I were so overwhelmed with work during the wedding planning that we didn't get to give Chris details of our likes and dislikes. But, Chris is 100% the person i would trust to make the party perfect. He has the experience to read the room and the vibe, and he kept the party flowing with perfect timing for fun dance music, slow dance music and even persian music (for my side of the family). We have been to so many weddings since, and realized that Chris has real talent in getting the party started and keeping it going. He was the highlight of our wedding (other than getting married ;))

The most stressful part of wedding planning for me was probably the DJ: I’ve been to several weddings with empty dance floors, bad music, or DJs who just did their own thing--even ...
when the bride or groom asked them to play something else. This was NOT the case with Chris. I’ve never seen a dance floor immediately fill up when dancing opened (seriously, there were like two people sitting) or stay full the whole night. The dance floor was so crowded that we had to ask the venue to blast the AC. At one point, my MOH abruptly left a conversation to run onto the dance floor, and I often saw people dancing at the bar while they waited for their drinks. One of our guests “complained” that he hated Chris because the music was too good and he never took a break from dancing. Our other complaint (this was a real one) was from a guest who said Chris had denied her request: when my husband asked him about it, Chris said he was happy to play it but he thought we wouldn’t want him to--and he was totally right! This wasn’t even a song on our “Do Not Play”; Chris just understood our vibe and stuck to it the entire night. I danced for almost three hours straight, which is exactly what I wanted from our wedding. It’s also worth noting that he cut our first dance song down by about two minutes and did such a good job that at first my husband thought he’d accidentally sent us the original file. If you want your wedding to be a big party with a packed dance floor, you should hire Chris.

he repeatedly went above and beyond to help us make our wedding exactly as we had dreamed it. At times during the planning process things were stressful but I felt I could always reach out to Chris and he would point me in the right direction. As our wedding day got closer, we had our consultation with Scott who knew everything we had discussed with Chris. It was as if Scott was with us throughout all of our planning sessions. Simply put, he was the best! The night of our wedding, he even took the time to come check on me and make sure everything was going as planned. Our guests had a blast dancing the night away. ing a DJ. I wanted someone who could do two things. 1) Play excellent music that we liked (and not play what we didn't like) and 2) Have complete control of the room as our wedding was pretty big. Chris went above and beyond in both categories and we could not have been happier. Planning the wedding can be stressful at times but Chris removed the stress from the ceremony and reception because we felt he had it all under control...And he did! There were, of course, some last minute changes and he handled them like they were part of the original plan. We could not have been happier with the choice we made and highly recommend Chris!

Our reception went without a flaw mainly because of how organized and professional Chris was. He made sure our timeline for the reception was functional and what we wanted. During the reception he came up to us many times to assure that we were having a good time (and a drink in our hand)!
Most importantly he played the BEST music which kept our dance floor completely packed the entire reception. Everyone was having a blast dancing and he played all the songs we had requested. I can't tell you the amount of people who came up to me after the wedding and told me that it was the best music and dance atmosphere they had ever experienced at a wedding. To hear that from so many people was just priceless!

played exactly the right music for our crowd. The dance floor was busy all night long. My grandparents have been married 56 years and danced all night long which they never do. He is a miracle worker. They went back home and told all of their friends how much fun the wedding was. Everyone of our guests commented on how they loved the DJ. The night was PERFECT! and Forget" so I could concentrate on my bride and my guests and everyone there could have a great time. I also couldn't have just any joker up there, because a bad dj would have been like nails on a chalkboard.
Chris was a pleasure to talk with, he has a high attention to detail and the years of experience to ensure we were properly taken care of, getting all our questions answered and needs met. After working out the primary details of the wedding, package and scheduling they then set us up with our actual DJ, Ryan.
He is someone who's work I've seen a few times in the past and it has always been exemplary. He met with us ahead of the wedding to work out all of the details and discuss our concerns . The day of he was there setup before we (the bridal) party made it near the hall. Everything looked great; clean & professional. All the music that greeted our guests was tasteful, classy and fit the overall tone of our wedding. He took our vague suggestions and hit the nail on the head. Everything sounded great throughout the ceremony.
The reception was a blast, and it ran like clockwork. All the special events, toasts, etc. ran smoothly. The music choices had the dance floor filled almost all night, he easily handled requests. Very impressive, considering how wide-ranging my guests were. We had tons of kids, toddlers, teenagers, college kids, adults, and grandparents out there dancing. Ryan definitely let his skills show by keeping them all moving and having a great time!
I did get some complaints a few days later, mostly from people with sore legs from all the dancing! They all loved Ryan's work, I thought he put on a great show and ran a tight ship. I had no worries about the evening as a result so I enjoyed myself too!
Ryan's abilities and experience as a DJ and Master of Ceremonies definitely were a root cause for our wedding being such a great party.
I would DEFINITELY recommend CJ's Disc Jockey Service (and Ryan) for your next wedding or event. All of their employees hold themselves and the services offered to a very high standard.
You will get a 5-star experience with them, which makes the stressful chaos of wedding planning and execution just a little bit better.

Not only is he a fantastic DJ, but he was pretty much like our wedding coordinator for our reception. He made sure that all of the details were exactly what I wanted and made them happen. He wasn't afraid to direct our very rowdy wedding party when we arrived. As a bride, having Chris as our DJ gave me a huge piece of mind. I didn't have to worry about anything all night, as Chris truly handled anything that came up. He also does a terrific job of keeping the night on track so that everything gets done. I cannot recommend Chris Johnson enough to any bride. He is truly the best of the best!
