We found her on The Knot way in advance of our date, saw her excellent reviews, and saw that her photography style (documentary, artistic, modern) matched what we were looking for. She was easy to contact and very communicative leading up to our engagement session (which we are so glad we did with her!) and wedding. Clara was an absolute dream to work with. Her flexibility, professionalism, and calm demeanor helped us to feel confident with our decision. Clara was the best photographer we could have asked for. We had a civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall and she was experienced shooting there, so she knew all the best spots. She put my husband and I at ease in a way I didn't think possible considering how uncomfortable we normally are in front of a lens. Clara is an incredible photographer and, on top of that, she’s got such a good heart. She was a dream to have around on my wedding day — she is so kind and so helpful. And, she has this really calm and positive energy (which helped, because I was a little nervous about being in the spotlight!). You can tell that she really cares about what she does. Right before the ceremony, she helped with lots of little things, like putting on my veil, helping us stay on track (time-wise) while staying relaxed, giving us suggestions for photos. During the ceremony, she captured some truly special, beautiful, irreplaceable moments between me and my groom, all while staying out of the way (I honestly didn’t notice she was there). My husband and I found Clara at a booth she'd set up at a Big Fake Wedding vendor show in San Francisco. We each had our own ideas about the style of the photos, but knew we wanted them to be "different than what we usually saw". Enter: Clara Rice. She has a gorgeous, stark/editorial style that we loved immediately, and a way of capturing stunning candid moments. She was also totally game to try out some rolls of film, which we wanted! Our venue was woodsy and dark, so she had her work cut out for her finding interesting lighting solutions. She was communicative, organized, independent in the space, and always calm. We are so happy with the way the photos turned out, and would work with Clara again anytime!

Clara is absolutely lovely, and her photographs are beautiful. Neither my husband nor I enjoy being a photo subject, and Clara did a fantastic job putting us at ease and taking pictures we greatly cherish. We spoke to a lot of photographers before we found Clara, and no one else was as willing to listen to what we wanted (and did not want) and to actually hear us. Clara was spectacular on our wedding day. She really took to heart the feedback we gave her at our pre-wedding meeting and made both of us feel incredibly comfortable throughout. I even hate getting my picture taken but Clara somehow made me forget there was a camera snapping throughout. The pictures themselves are stunning. We cannot stop looking at them and there are so many amazing ones, we are having a hard time deciding on our 20 favorites. We recently got all of our photos back from our wedding and it brings us such joy to re-live our memories from our wedding date. We got married on June 2nd, 2018, and we had Clara as our wedding photographer. Definitely one of the best choices we made was hiring her to capture our very special day. Photography was definitely one thing we didn't want to skimp out on, and we spent a long time looking for a photographer whose style looked the most timeless and beautifully captured. Clara fit the bill on that. Her style is timeless, feels like film, and always natural lighting. Not only was she incredibly brilliant in her composition, lighting and artistry, but she was also fantastic to be around. She made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera, and extremely down to Earth. The photos we received were absolutely stunning. It was also really fun to see all the moments she captured of the guests and bridal party. These are moments that we wouldn't have been able to see ourselves, given the wedding day was so jam packed, but we're so happy Clara managed to capture it all. We found Clara after seeing her lovely work featured on 7x7.com . Her portfolio impressed us too, so we knew that she would be right for us. Clara has a talent for finding great angles and positions to take full advantage of the natural surroundings. She made us feel at ease, so the wedding photos clearly reflected our joy. From an artistic perspective, the overall tone and composition of Clara's photos along with her attention to detail are outstanding. Also Clara was very responsive, arrived early to the venue, and delivered the final images even faster than expected. Clara deserves 5 stars for artistry and professionalism!

My husband and I were lucky enough to have Clara's company on the day we eloped! Not only did she capture some beautiful moments, her easygoing demeanor calmed our nerves when unexpected events threw off our wedding day plans. Although our families were not present on our big day, we were able to show off amazing photos of us getting ready, exchanging vows, and exploring Bernal Heights (great suggestion by Clara). We got a ton of photos during our 2 hour session (which was very reasonably priced). Clara is very fair and flexible and did not charge for travel time. If I could do it all over again, I would have added another hour so that we could have added another destination or taken more photos at City Hall.

We found Clara thanks to a lucky Google search. Clara took the time to get to know us to ensure that the photos of our wedding would reflect our personalities even though we were miles apart. Clara’s friendly personality allowed us to completely relax in her company and be our true selves. Clara captured all the emotions, laughter and love perfectly. How to put this into words...in early Nov, Dani (my wife's) mom was very sick and we decided on a Tuesday in to get married the following Sunday (five days later). Somehow, with the dedication, love, and support of our community and people like Clara - Clara rearranged her schedule to be there for us and she was there the entire time, from 11am to 11pm - we pulled it all off. Clara was a central part of an event that became much more than our wedding. Her intimate skill captured a raw and important moment in our lives and in the lives of our families. She masterfully captured the love and magnitude of this moment. She captured the joy in our hearts and the bittersweet moment of celebrating love/the future while at death's doorstep. Dani's mom passed away three weeks later. The photos we have of her -- dancing, reading her own poetry during the ceremony, hanging amongst family and friends -- we will forever cherish. Life is so rich in these photos and it is due to Clara's skill and ability to be present but not intrusive that we were able to end up with this beautiful result. I am bringing my review from WeddingWire here -- because you need to hire Clara. She's the top. Clara was a dream to work with. She did come as a word of mouth recommendation & she shot a friend's wedding. I loved my friend's photos & was hopeful I'd have photos I love similarly -- and boy, were my expectations exceeded! :) The process -- we contacted Clara, and she got us on the phone right away to learn about us & what we wanted as a final product. She knows what she is doing. She was super opened minded to locations to shoot at & has many on her blog you can look at. She's a Bay Area native & knows great spots to shoot in. Sadly, the Napa fires started just 2 days prior to our planned engagement session. I felt selfish for worrying about that while others were losing homes... Clara reassured me that it would work out. And it truly did. Some of the photos look like an incredible sci-fi scene. And there is something tragic & beautiful in taking photos with the man you love and being reminded that life is unpredictable. Enjoy the moments you have... But I digress too much. Clara was incredibly supportive throughout the shoot & knowing that I was anxious - she shared some visuals with me as she was taking photos to reassure me. Also, with the fires starting, we changed our mind on location a few times & Clara was honest about her schedule & flexible to make a location and time work on the day was specified. True professional. Clara was incredibly responsive to my inquiry. Always responded to email within 24 hours - unless she had pre-warned us she was going to be on another shoot or out of town. Also, if she said she would send you something - she would. She sent us some great teasers within a day of the shoot, and she did. It was super helpful in tiding us over while we waited for the final product. She is very relaxed & easy to talk to. We were worried about being posed & feeling uncomfortable - but right from the start, she was an excellent photographer. I would absolutely recommend her for any type of photo session.

We had Clara shoot our engagement photos and we are extremely happy with the photos! We have never had a professional take our photos before this engagement session. Therefore, we weren't sure how we should move/pose/act during the shoot. Clara gave us great directions to make our photos look amazing! We wanted to have our photos look and feel natural and not be too look "posed" or forced. Clara understood this and we are very happy with how the photos turned out. I admit that I tend to be very awkward in pictures and I am amazed how Clara turned this awkwardness to great pictures. Before I was even dating long enough to think about an engagement, I only knew one thing about my future wedding... And that was that Clara would shoot it! Her work is spectacular! The laid back vibe and etherial closeups in her portfolio came to life in our own session. All I could think was, "is that really ME??!!" I knew if someone would be able to pull out some shots from my awkward non-photogenic self, it would be her. And she got way more than "some shots". Clara behind the lens is pure magic. You would never think to ask for some of the moments she catches, but no worry, she is always around! Inside jokes & those little moments of laughter are her specialty. She dealt with those rowdy boys like a champ, managed to make all of us girls look like models, and isn't afraid to corral the families & get those moms under control! LOL. She was around to keep us calm when things started going awry the morning of. She easily adapted to the extreme change in weather from 80 degrees and sunny the day before, to 30 degrees and snowing that night!! Talk about working magic with low light! AMAZING. Not only that, she agreed to make 2 trips out to YOSEMITE, so that we could capture some "engagement" style photos in the middle of the valley before the wedding, and then again the day of the the party. She worked her butt off for us! TWICE! The easiest part is that she is just an email away, with a very speedy response, at any given time. She offers help from the first step, and was way more organized than our own on the spot coordinator. As for after, the photo sneak peak came out super fast, and were some of the coolest pics Ive ever seen. The website is super easy to use for sharing, saving, & printing, and we can't wait to work on an album with her. Don't skimp out on your photographer. Everything happens so fast! This is what you have to remember this magical day. GO WITH CLARA! Thank you Clara!! You were everything we could have wished for & more!

One thing I didn't realize about a wedding is how much time you spend with your photographer. The great thing about working with Clara is that she is sweet and funny, and was an incredibly calming presence throughout the day. She got us to relax during the wedding, even when we were an hour behind schedule. We just loved having her around! Should probably also mention that the photos turned out beautifully! They feel like "us" but also made me and my husband feel like models. Crisp, classic, and perfect photos! Finally, I really appreciated Clara's quick response time and willingness to help with the day-of timeline and answer questions.

WOW!!! How do I write a review for Clara with only 3500 characters....She is truly amazing. At this point we only have a dozen+ previews to work off of (just got married 3 days ago) and not only are they AMAZING, but she is so easy to work with. She's extremely easy going, very relaxed, blends into the crowd when needed to get candid shots and has a million great idea's to get the perfect shots. At our venue she used the benches, swing, fire pit, redwoods as props for what I know will be gorgeous shots. Clara is so easy to work with. I dread taking pictures. I was sure that we'd get stuck taking directions from her and getting directed to do this, do that, but she was not at all like that. If she needed a shot due to timing or whatever, she was laid back about it. Being the groom and not looking forward to doing pictures and being side-tracked with friends and family, I did drag my feet a little on getting things done and she was very patient with me. She also seemed to genuinely have fun with what she does. We had a second shooter (through her) just for different angles and additional shots but I am confident she would of been fine without having the 2nd photographer. When looking for a photographer I shopped around a lot, read reviews and was impressed with how prompt Clara was in our communication. I can't say enough nice things about her. We will definitely recommend her to anyone that needs a photographer. Clara is AWESOME!!!

Clara is *the best.* My husband Ottar and I got married in Sonoma on November 12, 2016 and hiring Clara as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made. Clara's photography truly captures the beauty, joy, and unique character of our special day. She put everyone at ease, including the camera-shy, from the wedding party to rambunctious kids to elderly family members. Our final photos are stunning---great light quality, vibrant color, and excellent composition. Plus, everyone looks fantastic! Planning my wedding, there was one thing I would not compromise on - a great photographer. It could not just be anyone who had a digital camera, but someone with true finesse and skill who could capture the whole feeling and emotions of the day. Congratulations! You have discovered one of the Bay area’s most amazing photographer! When planning my wedding, I knew the one thing I didn’t want to ‘skimp’ on was a photographer. This is the one essential decision my husband I agreed on. I did research for a LONG time. From the time I booked Clara, to our actual wedding, was about a year and a half. During this time, we were in contact, and when I had silly request, or questions, she was there to answer them quickly! Communication, check. During the weeks following up to our wedding, she made the drive from the Bay Area, to Santa Rosa, just to meet with us and discuss details! Reliability, Check. The day of our wedding flew by in what seemed like an hour. Clara spent ALL day with us. From the ‘getting ready’ part, to the garter and bouquet toss, she got it ALL! But the thing my husband and I admired most, was all the time in between. She made us feel so comfortable, and ourselves, that there were no ‘forced’ smiles that day for the camera. Every emotion was so genuine, because we felt like we were just hanging out with a friend, with a camera :) Amazing person, Check.
