Classic Catering and Events is a full service caterer serving the Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and surrounding areas. Classic Catering and Events was founded by Kim Adams and Heather Jones, a mother-daughter team. We have been in the wedding industry full time since 2016. Kim has over 30 years of catering experience, and Heather has been along for the ride since day one. Between the two, you can find a Caterer, Baker, and Bartender with Kim at Classic Catering and Events and a Florist, Planner, and Floral Preservation Artist with Heather at Once Upon A Bloom.
Kim and Heather go above and beyond to give each client the perfect event. Their goal is to provide you with a high quality service at a reasonable price. Because the client is reflected in each event, their goal is to give their clients a service to be proud of. Each event is different, and each event is completely customized. Kim and Heather make the perfect team and will do whatever it takes to make your vision a reality.

er when it came to during our wedding and after I couldn’t not be more disappointed. I was so excited for our food to come out. We did a plated and seated dinner service at our wedding and they absolutely dropped the ball. The entire head table and several of the family tables(over half of them) had cold or Luke warm and tough food. It was bad enough that after attempting to eat my sides that were Luke warm, I lost my appetite. At that point I went to the caterer, who was helping to serve, and pulled her aside to speak. I told her that I didn’t want another plate(they were preparing a warmer plate for me and my husband) as my appetite had been ruined and I would prefer if the other guests who’d received cold food could be the ones to get warm plates. To which I received a very unkind attitude. So I went to my planner to address the issue, who proceeded to witness another incredibly disrespectful comment and attitude. To which I asked my planner if I had approached this is in a rude manner and my planner stated that no I had not and the comments and attitude was indeed rude and extreme.
I was very upset with the attitude I received and did not find out the extent to which the cold food was given out until 2 weeks after the wedding. Several guests reached out and said they were starving and didn’t want to make a scene so they ate what they could but it was by no means good food. Especially for what they were charging a plate. Many went home hungry because they couldn’t finish the food with how bad it was.
At that point between the down right disrespect I’d received at the wedding and the guests complaining, I reached out to address it. I stated the state of affairs and that I felt that half of the guests going hungry warranted some form of compensation. To which the response turned it back on me saying a guest confronted them about serving cold food in a rude manner, and that my comment about my appetite being ruined was implied as out of line. As I understand it they plated the food as the reception was starting and I recognize that we were a touch behind, but not by that much. So by the time the food reached the tables it was nearly inedible. They did not plan accordingly and I know my planner kept them informed as to where we were in the timeline. Rude confrontation or not, when you are paying several grand for a nice dinner at your wedding, you expect them to adapt and not be rude when asked to adjust tactics by a bride on her wedding day. Classic catering did apologize for the staff members attitude but it was obviously a placating note after trying to pin our dissatisfaction with their service on our guest’s response being outside of what they wanted. While I would have liked some compensation, the attitude at the beginning of the email was uncalled for and unprofessional. I would not recommend using their services to any bride if there is even a remote chance you won’t like their food or attitude.

She sent over all the detailed menu and alcohol options, and had so many great options to choose from, it was hard to pick just a couple! Not to mention, everything was so affordable compared to other vendors we researched. On our wedding day, Heather and her team showed up on time, and had set up everything so beautifully! Heather was always so quick to respond to my emails and work with me on all my millions of questions. She felt more like a friend, then someone we were paying to provide food for our wedding. It was so shocking how Heather Jones was not understanding or compassionate during a time when everyone is being impacted by such unprecedented times. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this company for your wedding or catering events. Their unwillingness to work with us shows their true unconcern for their customers. We talked through many different ideas and menus and she was so lovely to work with and answer any questions that I had. Of course, with covid-19 this was more important than ever- she was so flexible, accommodating, and creative and was willing to work with the restrictions that we were given. I would recommend booking early just so you have time to go to plenty of tastings because they have such an extensive menu and we enjoyed being able to try a variety of dishes/cake flavors to help us pick our menu! We used them for food, flowers, bride’s cake, groom’s desserts, bar service, and directing of the rehearsal and the wedding. As the mother of the bride it was such a relief to know that Heather was taking care of everything. I was able to relax and enjoy the day with my daughter without stressing!
The food they prepared was delicious and the florals were gorgeous. The wedding cake was the best I have ever tasted. I was very pleased with the pricing. Classic was the most affordable catering service I found while searching. The fact that they attended to every little detail made them the perfect choice for our daughter’s wedding weekend.

mean WOW. Probably the thing we have heard most in the days following our wedding is how excellent the food was! They made sure to prepare a to-go box for my husband and I to take with us since we didn't get to eat at our reception, and we have to agree with our guests. The food was EXCELLENT! It was also displayed beautifully. From the photographs I have seen, it almost looked as good as it all tasted. Since we had a December wedding, we also had a hot chocolate and coffee bar provided by Kim and Heather. People certainly enjoyed it, and commented on how yummy and warm the drinks were! There was plenty of food and beverages for everyone. When it had all been eaten, the staff at Classic Catering and Events made sure that everything was spotless.
The best part of booking with Classic Catering and Events was not even the food, though. Kim and Heather were an absolute JOY to work with. They are such kind and attentive people, and you could tell that they genuinely care about making weddings special for the couples they work with. Whether I needed to make a change in my headcount or add to the menu, or even if I just had a quick question, they were always so responsive and helpful. I know how completely busy they were with a wedding or event almost every weekend of the year, but when I needed them, they made me feel like I was their only bride.
