Clifton Mansion

The Historic Clifton Mansion is a National Historic Site in the City of Baltimore, MD. Once the home of the entrepreneur and philanthropist Johns Hopkins, this historic mansion, constructed in the 1800s, hosts weddings of all sizes, from small, informal ceremonies on the lawn to extravagant celebrations in the spacious and stately ballroom. Now you are invited to contribute a chapter of your own to the city’s wonderful, ever-expanding story. When you choose the Clifton Mansion for your wedding celebration, you will also be supporting Civic Works, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the people of Baltimore through various education, skills development, and community service initiatives. Clifton Mansion offers a choice of indoor and outdoor event layouts. The ballroom is perfect for ceremonies and receptions of 50 to 100 guests. It features intricate cornices and ceiling enrichments, brightened by the warm glow of majestic chandeliers. The mansion also boasts a charming Victorian sitting room and a delightful dining room, named after Captain Henry Thompson, hero of the War of 1812, and another of the mansion’s former owners. The building also boasts a beautiful grand staircase, perfect for wedding portraits, and the stairwell features a large, highly detailed mural of Naples, Italy. You can rent a single room or the entire first floor, including the wrap-around porch and grounds. As a special treat, you and your guests can climb to the top of the mansion’s 80-foot tower, from which vantage point you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city. With a tent rental from one of our fabulous partners, you can entertain up to 165 people. Imagine A Reception in a tent after cocktails on the Veranda and a ceremony on the lawn. And then head for the ballroom to dance the night away! Your guests will travel back in time, imagining parties of days gone by...and they'll create new memories to be shared for years to come! Clifton Mansion hosts engagement parties, showers, rehearsal dinners, wedding ceremonies, receptions, and elopements. Tables and chairs are provided, and on-site parking is available for your convenience. Package add-ons include the use of the second-floor library as a dressing room, guided tours of the mansion and more. The venue’s event monitor will also be on hand to assist with the wedding day logistics.
