Coastal Photography

Your wedding is probably the most expensive party you’ve ever thrown, so you might as well have some really good photos of it. I’m Jeff Tillquist, the photographer behind Coastal Photography, specializing in weddings that are elegant, emotional, wildly fun, and occasionally just a tiny bit chaotic. Based in Ventura, California, I photograph weddings throughout California and wherever a great couple, a beautiful location, and a boarding pass happen to take me. My approach is equal parts editorial, documentary, and “holy smokes, that just happened". I want your photos to feel elevated and intentional without making your wedding feel like a staged production. The beautifully composed portraits matter, obviously. But so do the champagne spills, the ugly crying, the questionable dance moves, your grandmother absolutely owning the dance floor, and the moment your best friend says something during the ceremony that definitely was not in the program. I believe luxury photography should feel effortless. You shouldn’t spend your wedding day wondering where your photographer is, being dragged away from your guests for 47 different versions of the same pose, or feeling like you accidentally hired a director for a very expensive reality show. Instead, I’m there to anticipate what’s coming, make you look incredible, and quietly document the moments you didn’t even realize were happening. The result is a gallery that feels editorial without being sterile, timeless without being boring, and authentic without looking like someone handed you a disposable camera. Whether you’re planning a coastal California celebration, an intimate destination wedding, or an elaborate party that requires its own weather system, I’m here for it. Because twenty years from now, you probably won’t remember what color the napkins were. But you’ll remember exactly how it felt. And, thankfully, We’ll have incredible photos.
