Without a doubt going with Scott was the best thing we did for our wedding and you will not regret it!

Scott, who is both the owner and the primary DJ of Coastline, was so professional, he kept calm and told us he was actually available that day and wanted to discuss with us our expectations, and also gauge our personalities to see if we were a good fit. After talking with him over the phone and then in person, we saw how important chemistry and trust were when hiring a DJ, and how the wrong DJ could completely declass or derail an event. We appreciated that Scott has been a DJ for decades, as a living and not as a hobby or a side gig. This mattered because he was instantly reachable, and we also knew that on our wedding day, we would be getting Scott himself and that everything we discussed would be personally carried out by him. He showed us endless stacks of recommendations and glowing reviews from other couples who had hired him for their weddings. It was reassuring but even without all of that, we were already impressed by his level of knowledge, experience and professionalism. We were assured that he was going to give us a classy presence and represent us well. We had been to other weddings where the DJ did not listen to the couple or lacked awareness (e.g. turned a wedding raunchy in the presence of children and older relatives). Scott was the opposite of that and said, if we wanted a do not play list, or had specific instructions for the evening’s events or wanted to stick to specific song genres, then we could do that; He would not misrepresent us. We ultimately gave him a rough sketch of the music we liked and a few special requests, but trusted him to put together the playlist he thought was best. Our wedding day came and he did an amazing job engaging our guests, catching us up on a schedule that was running behind due to uncontrollable circumstances, staying organized with the toasts, and even staying alert to playing a particular song that cued select guests that the USC Trojan Marching Band had arrived, and it was time for said guests to nonchalantly join the band for a surprise entrance and performance (we’re band alumni and with Scott’s help had planned to join the gig and smoothly include other alumni guests, too). The seemingly flawless flow of events was a testament to Scott’s experience, and we appreciated how well he stayed coordinated with our wedding coordinator who was running the overall show. Scott was so tuned into what our guests wanted that we were shocked at how full the dance floor stayed, occupied even by guests who were normally wallflowers. We are still receiving praise for our DJ/MC hire from guests of all ages, from fresh out of college to past retirement. We really lucked out on Scott being available so close to our wedding date, because wow! No one else would have come close, and we are so grateful to Coastline Music being a major contributor to our perfect and beautiful wedding day.

ed up staying an extra hour at the venue because everyone was having a great time dancing! Scott was very helpful coordinating the music selection with my husband and I. He gave us a good variety of songs to select from, and he was also flexible to mix in songs from our own music library. Scott is very organized and professional. He is an articulate announcer, and we appreciated the time he spent with us on the phone to address our concerns and coordinate all details with respect to the music selection and announcements. We look forward to our next event with Scott!

His professionalism, warmth, and talent is remarkable. First of all, the organization and communication pre-event (beginning from approximately 1 year in advance) were outstanding. It was this ability to immediately convey his confidence, strong communication skills, and trustworthiness that made it an easy decision to hire him. He showed an extraordinary command of the entire emcee process and are clearly a highly-skilled and hard-working wedding professional. His work ethic is quite commendable. What's more, it is clear that he enjoys his work tremendously, has high standards for himself, and is dedicated to the highest quality of outcomes. That is always a virtue that is heartening to witness in any professional. On a personal level, he was engaged, displayed a fantastic sense of humor, was humble, and immediately made us feel comfortable and at ease. Considering the whole wedding process with all of the people you work with, he was a breath of fresh air. We never worried one moment that he would not perform any aspect of the job without 100% dedication and professionalism. I appreciated the fact that he solicited and welcomed feedback throughout the process, even on the dance floor the night of! He was able to read our guests, their preferences, and tailor the music accordingly. Thank you for taking this work so seriously and for allowing a great diversity of generations and cultures to enjoy the music and dance the night away. Our family, who can be a critical bunch at times, was quite impressed with your work as well. I would welcome any chance to work with him again for another event in the future, and will enthusiastically recommend you to anyone planning an event in the future.
