I’ve hosted several events with Cocktail Compass, everyone of these events has been elevated by having them there whether it’s just as a bartender sharing, exquisitely crafted, cocktails, or sitting down and actually developing cocktails designed around my palette and gaining a better understanding of what I prefer in a cocktail so I never have to worry what kind of a drink I’m going to like at a special event or business trip. Cocktail compass has given me confidence to order drinks that I know I’m going to enjoy in any different setting from dive bar to a high-end cocktail lounge. The education is amazing and the cocktails are exquisite. I would recommend them to anyone!
My friends and I were new to drinking, so we hired Daniel with Cocktail Compass for the event “What Should I Order?” a hands on tasting of six classic cocktails. It was such a fun experience! Not only did we get to try a variety of drinks, but we also learned so much about our own tastes and preferences. Daniel has an incredible depth of knowledge and answered all our questions, from the basics of different spirits to how each cocktail is built.
By the end, we all felt more confident in understanding what we actually enjoy and how to order at a bar without hesitation. Knowing the base spirits that matched our palates gave us the tools to explore and expand our drink choices in a way that felt approachable and fun.

Hi, I’m Daniel Carter, founder of Cocktail Compass. For me, cocktails are about more than what’s in the glass, they’re about connection, curiosity, and unforgettable shared moments. Every event I create is designed to feel both magical and approachable, blending craft with storytelling in a way that brings people together.
I bring over six years of experience in the wedding industry, ten years as a trainer and teacher, and more than eight years as a professional performer — so creating atmosphere, engaging groups, and keeping energy high are second nature to me. I’m also detail-oriented and data-driven, which means I’m brimming with knowledge about cocktails and spirits, and I love sharing that knowledge in ways that feel fun, hands-on, and approachable.
Education is at the heart of what I do. I love crafting spaces where guests can ask questions, explore without pressure, and try things out without needing to “be right” or even like every flavor. It’s about discovery as much as enjoyment. Whether it’s tasting through a lineup, learning why certain ingredients work together, or savoring a beautifully made drink, the focus is always on curiosity, connection, and delight.
