First, we will talk about the positive experiences we had with Cocoa Bites. Glenda is so very sweet and her cakes are VERY delicious. We had a 3 layered cake, each with different flavors. We had a lemon cake with raspberry filling, a cranberry orange with a cream cheese filling and a plain vanilla cake. We also ordered a groom's cake for the rehearsal dinner that was half chocolate raspberry and half vanilla. All cakes were so good and I know our guests really enjoyed the cakes!
Now, for the negatives. While Glenda did produce our cake and did her job, she wasn't very responsive to our emails. We had to ask her many questions instead of her telling us what to expect like pricing, verify delivery times, and other logistics.
At our initial meeting, we asked if she could do an Ombre design for our 3 tiered cake, which you can see the example. We reiterated a few other times via email if she could do this design and she said yes. But our final product/design was nothing like the ombre design and our cake was kind of lopsided! When we sat down for our dinner at the reception, we looked at our cake and got kind of worried that our cake would fall over, thank goodness it didn't!
As for our groom's cake (the UC cake), when my wife picked it up for the rehearsal, Glenda did not provide a box for the cake! It was a 12 inch round cake and had to carry it in the open, got so worried that it would get ruined from the drive there to our rehearsal dinner location. Again, this is something that should've been communicated with us so we could've been prepared for it.
While the cake there tastes good, it's not a large scale, reliable operation because they're just local bakery. We went with Cocoa Bites because the flavor of the cakes are fantastic but the logistics and communication were kind of poor, especially making a cake for a large event like a wedding.
We had a simple two tiered sweetheart cake for our daughter's wedding June 27, 2021. We were serving other desserts so did not need a cake that would feed 200+. Glenda treated us with love and respect even though ours was a small cake. Because we didn't serve it to all of our guests, we had leftover cake to bring home and eat. Let me tell you, the Lemon Raspberry Cake was TO DIE for. It was probably the most moist and flavorful cake I've ever tasted. And it was covered in a delectable buttercream in perfect proportion to the cake. Now I'd love to have a little cake from Cocoa Bites every week. Truly remarkable. Highly recommend.
We ordered a small 6" topper cake for our daughter's wedding to go on top of a macaron cookie tower. Our daughter has a gluten allergy and we had read in a local magazine, that Cocoa Bites bakes gluten free cakes too. They did a delicious lemon cake with raspberry filling and our daughter said it was the best gluten free cake she has ever had! As new residents to Loveland, we will now be regular clients at Cocoa Bites. Thank you for making our daughter's wedding day that much sweeter!
