Jeff, Lisa, and Bruce at the Colby Hill Inn made our wedding everything we could possibly have imagined. Their warmth, artistry, kindness and thoughtful touches made it the perfect event. Terrific TERRIFIC food, incredible ambiance, wonderful amenities--and pool, cookies in the guests rooms etc...the whole 9 yards. I'd get married there again in a heartbeat! 10/10
Colby hill inn is truly a hidden gem. The venue executed a wonderful wedding weekend from a welcome lunch on Friday through brunch on Sunday. Jeff and Lisa were fantastic and very responsive throughout the planning process. Our guests raved about the food, service and attention to detail. The food is incredible and plentiful! The venue offers 14 rooms on site for guests with old New England charm. An excellent venue for anyone looking for an easy wedding planning experience as they take care of food, bar, design, signage, transportation, florals, planning assistance and coordinating the weekend. Truly a 5 star experience start to finish!
It has been two days since our wedding, and we are still in awe with the overall quality of our experience. Our phones have not stopped ringing with compliments. On three consecutive days, the Colby Hill Inn hosted our rehearsal dinner, wedding, and next-day brunch. Each event was executed flawlessly.
The food at the Colby Hill Inn is exceptional. Despite many guests and multiple events, Bruce’s cuisine remained that of a 5-star restaurant. Our next-day brunch was packed because our guests could not get enough. Their cocktails were similarly phenomenal. Jeff and Bruce also provided a wide variety of locally-sourced beer and cider, which our out-of-state guests greatly enjoyed.
Jeff and Lisa are amazing. On our wedding day, we did not have to worry about set-up or take-down. They and their team flawlessly executed our plan despite many revisions and a global pandemic.
They are talented, detail-oriented, experienced, and accommodating. They responded quickly and, more importantly, thoughtfully, to all of our inquiries. When Jeff learned about the groom’s favorite beer, he personally visited the brewery and purchased it for the event, so the groom’s friends and family could enjoy it. Jeff and Lisa were personally invested in the success of our event and we could trust them with the details, which was relieving.
The rooms at the Colby Hill Inn are updated, spacious, clean, and offer many amenities, including an in-ground pool. It was invaluable and convenient for us and our families to be on-site and within steps of the venue in the days leading up to the wedding. If you would like to have your dog present for your special day—or, in our case, part of the wedding—some of the rooms are pet friendly.
Almost the entire property was curated for our events. There were so many different spaces and scenes that were created for our guests. The “Into the Woods” setting we used for our rehearsal dinner was fantastical, resembling something out of C.S. Lewis novel. The reception space was perfectly sized and the loft above the dance floor provides a perfect location to stash a DJ. We were originally concerned about the size of the dance floor but it turned out being a perfect size. It never felt cramped, even with a large group, and never appeared empty which encouraged everyone to get on the dance floor.
We would call this venue “all-inclusive” but that would cheapen the level of customization and care we were provided. There is no cookie-cutter package A, B, or C—Jeff and Lisa will adapt to your tastes and put on the best event they can at your price range.
Overall, we cannot recommend this venue and the people that work there enough. Having your wedding at the Colby Hill Inn is a great way to start a marriage.
I’m not sure where to even begin... I had my wedding weekend on October 4-6 of this year, and when I say there was a sort of magic in the air the entire time, I am not kidding. As a rustic barn wedding venue, you could not ask for anything better in my opinion. Jeff and his team went above and beyond to make our whole weekend something extra special. To start, our rehearsal dinner was Oktoberfest themed and held outside amongst the foliage on the back lawn... I was pretty laid back when it came to that evening, so I did not give much direction when it came to decor. I was absolutely blown away when I saw the setup that the team had prepared for my family and friends... just WOW. Liz was on point with making sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed, and she continued to be such a joy to see all weekend through breakfast Sunday morning.
Day of the wedding, everyone was working around the clock to make sure things flowed smoothly. Lisa Spahl (our florist and pretty much anything we needed her to be that day) went above and beyond my expectations. I could write a novel about her and not just her ability to take my lack of floral direction and turn it into a masterpiece, but her outstanding work ethic. If you ever have the chance to work with her, know that you are in the best possible hands.
Jeff and his team at Colby Hill Inn were some of the most pleasant and accommodating people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Leading up to the wedding, Jeff was so receptive to any and all ideas, and he really went above and beyond to help me design the entire wedding from scratch. He is so knowledgeable and really cared and made sure that my husband and I got everything we could have ever wanted for our special day.
I can’t even tell you how many people were walking around the property all weekend just in awe of the food, the service, and the setting. It really is the this quaint little inn with SO much to offer. I kept turning corners and finding even more places to explore. The property is like none other... beautiful landscapes, and an all encompassing package. And the food! Oh my the food.... delicious, unique, creative dishes that wowed our guests left and right.
I so look forward to visiting in the fall again, as it really is quite a sight to be seen, and a place to behold. I will forever cherish our wedding weekend not just for the obvious reasons, but because of where it was and the amazing people who were involved in making it all happen.
To everyone at Colby Hill Inn, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Jeff and Bruce and all of the staff at Colby Hill Inn are incredible!! We highly recommend having your wedding or special event here. The scenery is beautiful and the food incredible. We had both our rehearsal dinner and ceremony/reception on site. All said and done, if we had to do it all over again, we would choose Colby Hill again. No detail was left undone and everything was perfect. We cannot wait to go back and celebrate another occasion!
The Colby Hill Inn provided a beautiful, rustic, and magical place for the recent wedding of our daughter.
The day was everything that was promised & more. And best of all it was all done smoothly, efficiently and with such graciousness on the part of all the staff at Colby Hill directed by Jeff & Bruce. The year's process & planning leading up to to the event was smooth, hassel-free & well organized. Jeff was extremely patient and helpful answering many questions with kind and clear answers that made me feel like he was truly invested in making sure we had just the kind of wedding our daughter & her finacee wanted. The wedding dinner served elegantly was absolutely delicious and though we knew Bruce's kitchen had excellent ratings, we were still awed by the presentation, attention to detail, and really delectable cuisine served to such a large group of people.
All our family & friends who took over the Inn for the wedding week end had rave reviews about the accommodations, including the sumptuous breakfasts server both mornings in the very pleasant dining room.
All in all it was a perfect week end wedding celebration and even the sun shone on us. As the mother of the bride, I must say that every penny spent for this special place was well worth it. I recommend it highly to any couple who is looking for a serene & bucolic setting with a staff that works to provide the kind of beautiful wedding that they would want for one of their own.
We will not soon forget the lovely Colby Hill Inn.
Thank you Jeff & Bruce.
We had our ceremony outside in front of the pen in August 2017 (with the goats in attendance by choice) and our reception in the barn. Everything was exactly how we imagined. Jeff created a fabulous array of drinks for our guests while Bruce cooked up some delicious food with locally sourced ingredients. Our family and friends loved staying at the Inn and enjoyed the amenities and ambiance all weekend long. Jeff and Bruce were a dream to work with! They are very well organized and extremely helpful. We highly recommend Colby Hill Inn for your wedding!
Not only is the Colby Hill Inn a beautiful location to get married and have your reception (we did both on site), the innkeepers and all of their staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They're extremely accommodating, flexible, and are willing to do just about anything to make sure your day goes and looks how you want it to. This is a particularly great location if you have a lot of traveling guests as you have to rent out the whole inn for Friday and Saturday night. Unlike other places where this is required, you don't have to pay the money upfront for all the rooms. Your guests will pay for their own rooms, but you'll be responsible for what doesn't fill. I personally found it really nice to have everyone and everything all in the same location. We all know your wedding day flies by so it was nice having that extra time with our closest guests who we rarely get to see. Another thing that made this location convenient is that the Inn takes care of all of the tent, chair, and table rentals as well as all of the catering and bartending. Their food is delicious! You don't get free tastings, but they open to the public for dinner so you can go and try some of their dishes before making a decision. I can't speak more highly of this location. If you're looking for a location that is not too expensive (as far as weddings go - especially compared to Boston nearby), this place is definitely worth a look. I can't remember the exact cost we paid to the inn, but it included all of the rentals, the food, and the use of the space for the weekend. I highly recommend checking them out.
This was our first night hotel. It was just perfect. The staff was lovely, accommodating, welcoming and made me and my husband feel like royalty. The grounds are superb, beautiful and historic. The rooms are beautiful and the whole place is completely authentic. The included brunch the following morning was served in their lovely restaurant and the food was all exceptionally delicious. I would recommend this in a heartbeat to anyone and it was the perfect location to get away while still being within reach of the festivities. Thank you so much!
we were married on the Henniker covered bridge at New England College and then our outdoor "garden" reception at the Colby Hill Inn. I have to say I was so impressed with the way things turned out that we can't thank Mason enough. Every guest more then once even weeks after kept commenting on how delicious the food was and wasn't your typical "wedding" dish. Kudos to the chef!
