Collective DJs

Creating a wedding during COVID times is, for lack of a better word, challenging. After having to reschedule my wedding several times and eventually having to completely change venues was difficult and at times highly emotional. My saving grace was working with truly incredible people and working with DJ Carl and DJ Leni made everything so much better. When my date and venue changed DJ Carl got us in touch with DJ Leni who made the most AMAZING set list. I think the guests never stopped dancing through the whole event. I have had several people request the playlist for their own use. In meeting with DJ Leni I felt like he got the personality of my husband and I so well and created a theme around "80s/movie prom". Truly a joy to work with! Just perfect!

My husband and I both love to dance, but had thought that we could pull off DJ-ing ourselves. A few months before our wedding, we came to our senses and emailed DJ Carl and it just so happened he had a cancellation for our exact wedding day a few days earlier. I believe that to be divine intervention because DJ Carl, without a doubt, was one of the best decisions we have ever made (besides getting married ;-D) DJ Carl clearly loves all music and doesn't have any judgements against your music picks. He was very organized and helped us realize how music is an integral part to a wedding reception--from your opening song, to the atmosphere during dinner, to the cake cutting, to your first dance. All of these moments are a chance to insert your personal touch and style on your wedding day. DJ Carl was super professional, organized, and flexible. He has multiple ways for customers to give him their 'Do's/Don't' list. We chose to use spotify playlists, which was easy for us. We were having trouble deciding on our first dance song, since it wasn't a typical love song. But DJ Carl motivated us to go with a song that we love and we are so grateful for his encouragement to go with our gut. On our wedding day, he arrived with ample time until the reception, so played music on his speakers for the happy hour, which was going above and beyond what he had to do. The music during the reception was light hearted and playful, which matched the emotions in the room. Once some of the tables were pulled away, the dancing commenced and didn't stop for 4 hours! It was great song after great song that kept everyone dancing long after they thought they would. DJ Carl knows how to read the room and perfectly times slow songs and fast songs. I don't think I have danced that much since my college years, but I just couldn't help myself. Til this day, our guests still say how much fun they had dancing at our wedding, which is such a compliment to DJ Carl's skills. We are so grateful for his expertise and could not have imagined our wedding without him. If you still wavering on whether or not to have a DJ, I cannot argue enough for hiring DJ Carl. He takes the stress away, so that you can focus on celebrating. DJ Carl is more than just a DJ--he's truly passionate about all music and puts his heart and soul into make sure everyone is having a good time.

DJ Carl was fantastic! Throughout our process, he was communicative and open to ensuring the event was exactly as we envisioned. He managed the set up for each part of the wedding weekend flawlessly and our guests danced all night. It took us a long time to find the right DJ for us and we couldn’t have been happier to have Carl at our event.

DJ Carl is the best! Carl came highly recommended by a friend and she wasn't wrong. He is professional, easy to work with, and his passion for music is palpable. Choosing a DJ requires a lot of trust, because unlike other wedding vendors, it's hard to know in advance whether the DJ will create the atmosphere and dance party you're looking for. When talking and meeting with Carl before the wedding, we knew that he genuinely cared about our music tastes and what we wanted for our wedding, and knew he was the one. And he created the best dance party! Carl got all of our guests on the dance floor and we got so many compliments from our friends and family about the music. I highly recommend Carl for your wedding--or, any event!

DJ Carl was hands down amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed working with him to make our wedding the best wedding ever. He is extremely knowledgeable and has an extensive music collection. Once you meet him you can instantly tell that he truly has a passion for what he is doing. He played all of the songs we asked him to and mixed them seamlessly. There was not a single moment of down time once the music started. Our guests all had a blast and so did we!

Carl Jr. is an absolutely incredible DJ, and I HIGHLY recommend him for any event, especially one that necessitates dancing! He made the whole process of planning our playlist so easy and executed our vision masterfully. From the first meeting with him, my wife and I had full trust in his ability to inter-mix the vast genres of music we requested. He was able to pick the perfect songs at the perfect time and kept the whole party dancing the ENTIRE night.

DJ Carl and Leni were recommended by our caterer. After reading their awesome reviews and getting to know Carl through a series of phone chats, we knew they were the ones to DJ for our wedding. They are responsive and professional yet friendly and personable at the same time. 5 weeks post wedding and our friends and family are still talking about our DJ and the music! At the last song of the night, at 11pm, at least 90 of our guests were still dancing away, then chanted "one last song" until they played one more dance song. We loved working with them, and our guests loved dancing with them, as did we. I can only recommend these guys in the highest.

If you are looking for the best in the business, look no further. We were very fortunate that Carl could DJ our wedding. He was professional, flexible, and is passionate about music and his job. We had to travel from out of state for our wedding in Baltimore and he worked with us via FaceTime and email to make sure things were set. Music is also really important to us and we wanted specific songs for specific reasons. Carl understood that and worked with us on every playlist. Finally- our party was AMAZING and this had a lot to do with the music and the flow of the night. Carl is a quiet professional that you can trust will make the right musical choices on the dance floor. There was never an empty floor. Collective DJs is a vendor you do not have to worry about.

Carl took our eclectic play list and ran with it! Several times during the wedding, we looked around and all 193 guests were on the dance floor! Highly recommend him for his professionalism and skill in creating an excellent party. We're so glad he was recommended to us!

We had DJ Carl from Classic Collective for our wedding on May 27, and would emphatically recommend him to anybody looking for a DJ in the Baltimore area.  He worked closely with us in the run-up to the event and was very flexible about scheduling; moreover, he has set up a really excellent and thorough event information form that probably did as much to help us plan as any wedding book did.  During the event, he was responsive to sudden requests and changes in plan, and did a great job keeping the tempo up throughout the evening.  All of our other vendors had experience working with him and seemed quite happy (and sometimes even relieved) to hear that he would be the emcee.  Long story short: get DJ Carl.  He is great.

Leni K was our DJ and he was amazing!!! All of our guests were out on the dance floor. He got everyone's names right during the introductions (I work for a hotel in Baltimore and you would not believe the amount of DJs that mess this up!). We filled out a questionnaire and then met with Leni in person to review everything a couple weeks before the wedding. He nailed it! So professional and easy going. Also fulfilled some last minute song requests we sent him day of!

Carl was amazing. He did the music for our ceremony and cocktail hour. Before the wedding he sat down with me and my fiance to discuss the kind of music we wanted played and the feel we wanted for both portions of the wedding. Music is extremely important to us and Carl did a wonderful job. He was always very responsive and always very nice. He is a wonderful DJ and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ for their wedding.

Carl was absolutely amazing! Look no further. You have found your DJ. Seriously, he was so professional, kind, and talented. We had the best, crazy dance party which was what I was hoping for. Everyone and I mean everyone was on the dance floor even my 65 year old mother who never dances. I only wished it had lasted longer. Please book Carl! You won't regret it!

Leni K with Classic Collective DJs provided the music for our wedding reception in early May. He was absolutely amazing! We spoke over Facetime last summer and my fiance and I sat down with him a few weeks before the wedding to talk about our music interests and what sorts of music we were hoping to hear at the reception. I remember being nervous beforehand that I wasn't providing enough info. Should not have stressed--Leni hit it out of the park--he kept the night rolling with fun, lively music that everyone (friends, older family members alike) loved. The dance floor was packed the *entire time* which was exactly what we had hoped to achieve. Afterwards, we received so many compliments on the music. Leni was wonderful to work with, very professional and we could tel he had a lot of experience. You cannot go wrong with this group--they absolutely know what they're doing!!

Leni from Classic Collective DJs made our event!! I mean all of our vendors were outstanding, music though, it's the backbone. It sets the whole tone! Leni really made our wedding the most fun, most memorable, most amazing day of my life; he performed far beyond our expectations! Leni was very patient, professional, and helpful walking us through the process of choosing music and organizing a day-of timeline. He worked with our caterer and photographer to make all parts of our wedding day completely seamless! We couldn't even keep count of all the compliments we received on the music (Leni provided pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing music)!! Classic Collective DJs provided a great DJ service out our wedding. Carl Brashears is a good DJ if you are looking for someone who is a non-intrusive and tactful DJ. Carl was able to blend very well our selected songs into an evening that started with musical relaxation during cocktail hour and dinner and a ended with a raging dance floor after dinner. I strongly recommend Classic Collective DJs!

If you are looking for a DJ for your wedding you should definitely use Classic Collective DJs and use Carl. He is awesome! My Husband and I normally aren't big dancers, but we danced the entire night of our wedding and so did all of our guests! It was a blast. Carl does a great of reading a crowd and playing music that everyone can't help but dance to. Since our wedding we have had so many people tell us that our wedding was the best wedding they have ever been to and they've never seen so many people having fun and dancing. It was all thanks to Carl!

Our wedding planner referred us to Classic Collective DJ's and they were perfect! They were very professional, the announcements were done perfectly and they played exactly what we wanted. I definitely recommend them!

My husband and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Carl, our DJ from Classic DJs. From the first time we met to go over our music preferences and intro music to the day of the event, Carl put us at ease and made the experience fun. Carl has unbelievable knowledge of musical genres, and used that to provide mood music for the cocktail hour and dinner, then get nearly all 150 guests out on the dance floor. Our guests loved that he played music from different decades, and my husband and I loved that he worked in so many of our favorite songs. He did a great job of sticking to our schedule, and accommodated a last minute change that came up in the middle of the reception in a way that kept the flow of the evening. My guests could not stop talking about how much fun they had dancing, and he really helped to create memories that I will cherish for a lifetime.

My advice for brides-to-be? Hire Carl Brashears Jr. (Classic Disc Jockeys) for your wedding! Carl was so easy and fun to work with from the very beginning and made our wedding day absolutely incredible! He made sure that he understood exactly what we wanted – we trusted him completely and he did not disappoint! Carl was professional, engaged, and responsive throughout the entire planning process. One of our main goals was to keep people dancing – mission accomplished! Carl is wonderful. We met with him leading up to the wedding and his passion for music just seeps out of his pores. You can tell how excited he is about it, and that's what we wanted. We met with other DJs and they would give us a website or spreadsheet and say "fill in which songs you want me to play." Fail. That's why we are hiring a DJ We don't want to think about that! With Carl, you tell him the types of music you like, the feeling you want (I said current hits and dancing all night), and he recreates it. We did supply a list of some must plays and do not plays and he did a great job with that. He even did an ipod playlist for us for the cocktail hour He is not one of those in your face DJs, but again, that's what we wanted. He kept the dance floor packed all night (which was one of my biggest worries) and everyone had a blast! I would recommend Carl to anyone.

We are a military couple so it was hard to plan and wedding and get together with vendors while living in another state. Carl was very accommodating. In addition, he helped us with the process. Everyone at our wedding had a blast and people stayed on the dance floor until the lights came on and the vendor kicked us out.

He was great at reading the crowd and dealt expertly with some of the curveballs that were thrown at him last minute. I also tend to have an eclectic taste in music and he worked it in so that there were the standards all the guests like but then I also got to dance to music I never get to hear. And I loved that he knew when requests were ok and when they had to go through me first! And the guests all loved him- my friends who are notorious for bugging DJs really liked him even though they did probably put him through hell.
