AC was our DJ and he was absolutely phenomenal! He played most of the songs we requested and kept everyone dancing the whole night! He also did a wonderful job keeping everything on time and organized. They were also extremely pro-active during the planning phases (Carrie is wonderful!) and helped us work out every detail. We added a photo booth to our DJ package and it was super fun - Charles was our photo booth guy and he was great!

I originally saw Colonial DJs at a bridal show prior to the pandemic. Carrie was very diligent about staying in touch with me. When we were ready to move forward with the wedding, Carrie helped set everything up and get the ball rolling. Talking to her is like talking to a long-lost friend. Jeff was our DJ for the evening. He was amazing! He was able to create a personalized wedding song for us in a short amount of time that made me cry! They sent us a copy of our love story they had written for us, which also made me cry. Jeff handled our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception - seamlessly! We even had a last-minute hiccup when my father had to unexpectedly leave prior to our dance and Jeff was able to quickly adjust my father-daughter dance to be a touching 1st dance with my son instead. Colonial DJs had a perfect set up for us and Jeff adjusted the evening as needed. I cannot say enough good things about them. Jeff was my DJ for my 5/22/21 wedding. Jeff came highly recommended, and he did not disappoint! From the beginning Jeff was great at communicating and making sure we were on the same page. Jeff, along with my wedding coordinator, came up with a timeline and stuck with it to keep the wedding reception flowing perfectly. Prior to the wedding, I did little planning as far as selecting songs I wanted played, and Jeff did an amazing job at selecting songs that kept everyone on the dance floor. As a fellow wedding vendor, we loved working with the Colonial DJ team 3 times in 2020. They communicated with us throughout the night to ensure we were prepared for each moment and kept people on the dance floor, with is so important for us so that we can capture the best reception photos. BRIDES: A vendor team that works well together is SO important. We loved working with them and hope to work with him again in the future!

Our wedding plans changed a lot between our first meeting with Jeff and the wedding itself. He accommodated all of the changes, up to the very last minute, and did an awesome job at both the ceremony where we did our first dance (we made some unusual COVID-inspired choices) and the reception. With Colonial DJs, you are in good hands!

Jeff Bristowe traveled to Lexington, VA for our big day and was wonderful! We didn't get a chance to meet in person prior to the wedding, but it didn't seem to matter as Jeff was very responsive via email. He played all of the songs we asked for and omitted the ones we didn't want. I even asked him to play the youtube version of our first dance song and there were no issues whatsoever! The lights he had were so fun for the dance floor and our guests had a blast. Thank you Jeff!

My husband and I booked Colonial DJs for our wedding, and we are so glad that we did. CJ was our DJ, and he was thorough and met all of our requests with a smile and professionalism. He was funny, did a fantastic job MC-ing, and kept the dance floor rolling (my #1 request)! CJ had great suggestions for us when we were unsure of certain aspects of the reception and cocktail hour, and he was full of great energy until the very end. Thank you for being a part of making our wedding so fun!

We had Howie for our October wedding. He was excellent as master of ceremony and making sure we stuck to the timeline and were on track with everything during both the ceremony and reception--we are very appreciative of that. Our ceremony was perfect thanks to him. When it came to our reception music, we left the wedding a bit disappointed. We specifically asked no music requests from wedding guests unless it was a) from our parents b) from the MOH. Unfortunately, there were several song requests made and played that were NOT approved by my husband or me and weren't from parents or MOH. In addition, none of the group dances (Macarena, wobble, electric slide, etc.) we specifically requested were played. Also, the last song of the night played was unfortunately the wrong song, and I had to have him change it to the correct one. We spent hours picking songs, creating a playlist and filling out forms, and we gave him more than enough to pick from, and unfortunately many of the songs that should have been played were not and replaced with songs we didn't want played, including two chosen by the DJ. We drove from DC to Yorktown to have an hour long consultation with him to go over everything as well. I know this may seem like a minor issue to many people, but it is something I will remember from our wedding day. Thankfully, everyone still had an amazing time, but we wish our playlist and plan were respected a bit more. While I find the emails from the DJ very unprofessional after submitting our honest survey and review, I would still recommend the Colonial DJs company as a whole to others, but I would share my experience first. I think we unfortunately had a rare experience compared to others.

As a Father of the Bride and having had the great joy of walking my tow daughters down the aisle let me say that your choice of DJ is critical in planning your wedding. To that end Jeff Bristow of Colonial DJ's was a great choice for our daughter's wedding in Williamsburg, VA on September 15th. From my perspective Jeff was responsive, attentive, professional and just a pleasure to do business with and a great deal of fun on the day of the wedding. Jeff played music at the ceremony site that was perfect, played music at the cocktail hour that was perfect, played dinner music that was perfect and then carried the evening with a great mix of dance music...Jeff was so tuned in to our family and guests and made sure we all had a great time ! Jeff also handled the events of the evening from bride and groom entry, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc and of course to the speeches and toasts from parents and bridal party. To me the most important aspect of the DJ is that they are NOT over the top used car salesman fake enthusiasm person....Jeff was so spot on and such an integral part of a great evening ! Thank you Jeff for contributing to and supporting our wonderful evening ! If you are searching for a DJ in my opinion Jeff should jump to the top of your list !

DJ Howie Rocked it! We had DJ Howie and his wife Karen for our wedding reception at Williamsburg Winery. They were very professional from first interaction on. I had to plan my wedding from Florida (long distance) and they were completely accommodating! Howie played every song I requested and ensured that everything had planned went according to the plan!! Karen was great with the photo booth which was a COMPLETE HIT. WOW! They were thorough and I loved the online planning portal they have on their site!!! An OCD person like myself would love this couple! ha!!!

Howie was hands down one of the best parts of our wedding. During the planning process he made sure that we were always on the same page and that he knew exactly what our vision was for our wedding. When it came to our wedding day, Howie was what kept the party going and people on the dancefloor until literally the sendoff. We look back on our wedding day and think wow it was the perfect day and so much of that is thanks to Howie and his ability to read a crowd and keep a party poppin'

I chose Colonial Disc Jockeys from a recommendation, and got Howie. Wow, he is hilarious and full of so many great ideas! He knows how to bring the party, which was really helpful because we had a mostly older crowd and not many people initially wanted to dance. He tries hard and is very dedicated and enthusiastic about making everything as special as possible!

We wanted a reception where everyone would dance all night long. Jeff at Colonial DJs delivered. He played the right song at the right time -- time after time. Everyone had a blast!

Howie was awesome! He was so helpful getting everything set up prior to the wedding and helped us pick out songs for the ceremony and everything else. We only picked a few must play songs and he did great picking out the rest of the music for the reception. Everyone had so much fun!

Jeff did an awesome job! I was a little nervous about how the music during the ceremony would sound, since we were in an outdoor venue but everything went smoothly and sounded great. Our guests had a blast, he kept the energy up all evening - thank you for everything!

I booked Colonial DJs for my reception this past April. Eric, my DJ, did a fantastic job. The weather took a turn on us and he managed to brave the cold for us and still get people to dance :) I would've given it 5 stars but my only complaint is that on their website their is a client portal where they want you to fill out forms for your songs and event details but they did not tell me about it when I booked. I ended up finding it myself and filling out the forms but I'm not sure the assigned DJ had the information anyway.

I worked at a venue in Newport News for 2 years and ALWAYS happily referred Jeff and his team to my clients. Every single client was so happy with the services from Colonial DJs! From a business perspective, they are incredibly responsive and reliable, and they offer much more than just a DJ (photo booth, uplighting, etc.). This past summer, I referred Jeff to my close friend whose wedding I was in, and unsurprisingly, he was a huge hit. He took requests from the guests (per the bride's instruction) and had the best/funniest comments throughout the night. He was so amazing that my fiance and I have asked him to travel down to SC to DJ our wedding this August, and I'm so excited to have a great friend and great DJ to provide the entertainment for my wedding! I was so impressed with Ed!!! He was an amazing DJ and kept the dance floor packed the whole wedding! Ed was also able to adjust to some last minute changes during the ceremony. He was so much fun to have and our guests had a blast giving requests and he even let me get the mic and sing along!! :) We would highly recommend him as he really knows what he's doing and is able to keep the party going!!!

A.C. Walker was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!! We were able to discuss the details of my wedding reception on the phone prior to the event, and he ROCKED THE HOUSE. He completely understood my vision, and I couldn't have asked for anything more. He checked in with us throughout the event to make sure everything was going how we wanted to, and to see if there was anything else that we needed/wanted. I cannot say enough good things about A.C. Walker! He was my dream DJ, and I have soo many great memories from working with him. I highly recommend him and Colonial DJ's to anyone for any event!!!! A million times A+. Jeff was our wedding DJ and we could not have had a better DJ! He worked well with our crowd and did everything we asked for and more! Colonial DJs - These are the Guys you WANT Chris Hansin and the crew at Colonial DJs did a fantastic job with our daughter's September wedding at the Williamsburg Winery. This was not our first wedding rodeo nor our first work with DJs and the ease of communication (they get RIGHT back to you); their equipment, lights, wireless microphones -- all of it -- is simply first rate. These guys LISTEN to you. Their web site allows you request songs be added or avoided, it plays snippets of tracks you might be unsure of, tells you of available "different versions," it gives you lots of great ideas. Colonial mic'd the outdoor ceremony for us on a breezy day and all you heard were clear voices. They were there early, set up/take down cleanly. Inside the winery the set up was just as we'd asked. Throughout the night I got lots of favorable comments and many "what's his name I need his card" inquiries about Chris. Prior to this thing, he spoke at length with both my daughter and her fiancé and even put up with me (father of the bride) to incorporate our ideas and work out those bridal party entrances and toasts. He had some innate sense of what the crowd wanted and where to take it. We had all ages at that wedding and EVERYONE was on that dance floor. At one point Chris knew "just when" to distribute party favor sunglasses and light up the floor with "I wear my sunglasses at night" and Seger's "Old fashioned Rock n Roll." No kidding - at one point I went back to where post-dinner tired staff had collected -- and THEY were all dancing. Have not seen that before - ever. This was one vendor we had absolutely no worries about. Cannot overstate this recommendation.

These guys are the real deal! Howie was the DJ for our wedding last weekend, and we could not have asked for a better experience. Howie really took the time to get to know my husband and I and to put together a celebration that was uniquely ours - he even recommended the photographer we ended up hiring. No matter what crazy questions or requests I had, he was always extremely gracious and accommodating - the consummate professional! Everything went off without a hitch, from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, and their prices are more than reasonable. Howie also deserves an extra special shout out for putting together a great night of fun despite my husband and I giving him exactly zero songs for our preferred song list. Thank you Colonial DJs for helping us dance the night away! We won't soon forget it.

We hired Jeff for both Friday and Saturday night for my Fiance and I's April 2017 wedding. After the Rehearsal Dinner on Friday night, we did a Karaoke party for all of our family and friends who came into town early to celebrate with us!! We ALL had the BEST time with Karaoke! It was so much fun and Jeff kept the party going!! Then on Saturday, Jeff was our DJ at our wedding and we had SOOO MUCH FUN!!! All of our family and friends could not stop raving about Jeff!!! I would highly recommend Colonial DJs!! They were great to work with and very professional!!

Chris Hansin did an amazing job at our wedding! He got everyone on the dance floor by playing a fun mix of old and new dance songs. We had a blast on the dance floor with all of our guests. Colonial DJ is professional, easy to work with, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Colonial Djs was wonderful from the first contact - very responsive and professional!! We had a last minute change in our DJ due to a family emergency but CJ did a fantastic job and all our guest were dancing and had a great time! I also used uplighting through colonial DJs and the room looked amazing! Highly recommend!

Colonial Djs knocked our wedding out of the park!!! We had Howie running our reception and we couldn't be happier! We LOVE Colonial DJs' Jeff Bristow and Chris Hansin! We employed them for our June 25, 2016 wedding and wedding reception and had a blast!. From start to finish they were both professional and personable. They know exactly how to create whatever kind of party you ask for. Chris was very easy to communicated with, gave amazing suggestions and was just an overall great fit for our event. He was WELL VERSED in all genres of music. He kept the party going and openly took requests, which our guests loved!! He was organized in getting our song lists before the wedding and helping us decide on songs. Colonial also handled the sound for our wedding ceremony and coordinated with our pianist and singer to provide excellent sound. They provided AMAZING uplighting and a dance floor wash for recetption that totally transformed the room!! We first saw Jeff Bristow DJ at our best friends wedding a little under two years ago. Being from VA Beach all we have seen at weddings was Astro entertainment. We were so impressed with Jeff's performance that as soon as we got engaged (a week after our best friends wedding--and yes, i caught the bouquet lol), we knew exactly who we wanted. Jeff goes above and beyond to make sure his clients have the best day possible. He worked with my aunt and uncle behind the scenes so that he could help set them up to play guitar and sing in our ceremony and even came early to help them do a quick sound check prior to the guest arrival. The photo booth and props were amazing and it was slam packed the entire night. I can be very organized so I sent a schedule list to Jeff and he blew it out of the water--everything went as smooth as possible. I cant say enough about how impressed we were with colonial DJs. If you are looking for someone who genuinely cares for their clients,, enjoys their job and knows how to get the party started then we highly recommend them for any event!

Did an excellent job at my wedding ceremony and reception! Sound was great, Mr. Bristow was set up on time and had everything looking great and very professional. Got people out on the dance floor and encouraged song requests from guests. Would definitely recommend them!

We had the wedding nightmare you only read about from start to finish but Colonials DJ's-Ed Muddiman flexed and did an outstanding professional job. In specific, due to hurricane type forecasts, our ceremony and reception all had to be changed less than 36 hours before our wedding. Ed not only DJ’d a beautiful ceremony and reception now located between two locations that were not even previewed in advance. The ceremony (involving over 25 bridesmaids and groomsmen and 215 guests) was at the Williamsburg Regional Library-not your typical wedding venue. The reception was flipped into the William and Mary Alumni House. Ed didn't miss a beat and calmly helped us reinvent both spaces all the while staying on track with our written reception plan. We were smart to have chosen such a professional organization to walk with us that weekend. Most of our guests were really surprised by how perfectly everything went. Ed was extremely calm in spite of the craziness and we felt very blessed!-Thank you Ed M. and Colonial DJ's.

My wife and I had the pleasure of booking Colonial DJs for our recent wedding and could not have been happier with our choice! Our DJ (Howie) was fantastic to work with, helping us every step of the way, and walking us through the process of planning the music for each part of our reception. The online planning forms and worksheets that Howie went through with my wife and I during our one-on-one in-person planning session were invaluable in helping us plan everything from the bridal party entrance music to the schedule of events to the final song--everything down to the last detail. They were so accommodating of all of our requests and helped us customize everything to make it unique and specifically tailored for us, even creating a special mix/medley of song clips to use for my mother-son dance. As a groom, music was the thing I probably cared most about in terms of planning the reception, and working with Colonial DJs made everything so easy and stress-free. The reception went off without a hitch, Howie was a fantastic emcee, and the music selection was exactly what I had envisioned. I would highly recommend Colonial DJs to anyone as the best option for anyone looking for a great DJ for their wedding!

Howie was absolutely WONDERFUL! He spent the entire day at our venue from 11:30 AM until about 10 PM, and we SO appreciate all his hard work! We used Howie/Colonial DJs for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and everything was perfect. He incorporated all of our music requests, as well as music that kept everyone dancing and entertained throughout the night. Everyone commented on how fun the "Shoe Game" was, and we received so many compliments from guests saying it was the most fun wedding they've been to, thanks to the awesome DJ! There were a few minor changes to the flow of things during the reception, which he handled quickly and professionally. He even went above and beyond when I forgot the garter and thought we'd have to skip that part of the reception--he had an extra garter in his van and saved the day! I will recommend Howie and Colonial DJs to everyone I know who is planning an event.

We had Jeff as our DJ for our wedding. He did the ceremony music as well as the reception. Jeff is such a fun DJ! He did a great job of playing music that everyone could dance too! We used Colonial DJs for our July 2015 wedding. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED them! We booked Howie for our wedding and reception but also interacted with Jeff Bristow. Both men we interacted with were professional, helpful, and kind. They made you feel as if they were a part of your family. During our wedding Howie went above and beyond and make our evening perfect! I would recommend Colonial DJ's to anyone! They made our night a night we will never forget!

Our DJ Howie was pretty laid back but man does he know how to throw a party!! He listened to all the suggestions we had and answered all of our questions and gave us pointers for how it would work best to plan the reception. We had a blast and he played the best music. He even helped us with our ceremony music because we were having someone else do it but they were missing a cord and he came to the rescue! I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! Highly recommend!!

Howard did an AMAZING job before and druing my wedding to get us prepared and organized! He was easy to stay in contact with and knew what he was doing! There were a few snags at the wedding with like two songs playing more than once, but he had high energy and I danced all night long! I will forever suggest them to others! We got married in October at the Founders Inn in Va. Beach, Va, and Jeff Bristow of Colonial DJs was our DJ. He did our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and lighting. He was wonderful - he played exactly the type of songs that we wanted, did NOT play songs/genres we didn't want (even if guests requested them), and kept the crowd entertained and on their feet. He also did lighting in our reception as well as a monogrammed BOGO projector. The prices were competitive and affordable. We got many compliments on how good our DJ was. He was both fun and professional. Couldn't have asked for anyone better! Thanks!

Colonial DJs is a great company. I enjoyed using their online tools to make a must play song list and a do not play song list. Howard was a great DJ to work with. The music wasn't too loud, the selections the company offered were great, and Howard was very engaging. He got out and did the electric slide with our guests! In person meetings were easy to schedule, and Howard replied promptly to emails. I recommend this company!

We had A.C. Walker as our DJ and he was absolutely wonderful! He had fun ideas for us to do during the garter removal and toss which really fit with our fun-loving friends and family. He was always so quick to respond to us when we wanted to add music or change things. I would recommend him to anyone!
