We had the best experience with Ruth at Colorado Couples Dance Connection! We started with two intro lessons and then purchased five lessons to learn our first dance. Neither of us had much dance experience, but Ruth immediately made us feel comfortable and never made us feel nervous or self-conscious.
As an educator myself, I was especially impressed by how well Ruth teaches. She modeled each step, broke things down in a way that made sense, gave us plenty of time to practice, and offered encouragement and helpful tips along the way. She is kind, professional, approachable, and so easy to work with. We went from wondering how we would ever learn a choreographed dance to feeling confident and excited for our first dance! We are so grateful for Ruth and highly recommend her! ❤️

Which Wedding Dance Will You Choose?
In your first two consult lessons, you will learn how to move together as one unit. You will be introduced to the basic concepts, techniques, and movements that are foundational for beginning most styles of partner dance. From there, if you choose to stay with Colorado Couples Dance Connection, your wedding dance becomes collaborative between you and your dance teacher. Your dance is choreographed based on individual comfort levels, timeframes, and retained skills, week by week, rather than some preconceived routine and strict lesson plan.
The Beginner Becomes The Master

Ruth Burger
Owner and Lead Instructor
I'm a little different than the average dance teacher; I didn't learn to dance until I was in my 30s! I wanted to dance since childhood, but the opportunity to begin didn't occur until 2016.
I accidentally wandered into a dance fitness class (NIA) at my local YMCA and I began exploring movement and body awareness. I eventually became a certified NIA instructor in 2018 and began hosting my own NIA dance fitness classes.
In 2019, I was invited on a date to a local bar that hosted weekly Country Two-Step classes taught by a local dance professional and competitor. By the end of the first class, I was hooked by couple's dance. I loved teaching NIA but I knew that learning, dancing, and eventually teaching couples dance was my calling.
I continued dancing at the local bar, taking group lessons each week and learning to dance with the locals in attendance.
I started training professionally and competing on the UCWDC circuit in 2021, winning the Colorado Country Classic. I have continued to compete and professionally train since then, winning multiple divisions in both Chicago, IL and Albuquerque, NM, along with titles in Denver, CO.
I began teaching couples dance in 2024, mainly working with wedding couples, and I continue to teach to this day.
My joy in teaching comes from watching students grow from their first, timid, steps as individuals into a couple that moves in sync, as one, together, on the floor.
