I had my wedding at The Columbia two years ago and I still can’t believe how badly they handled it. From the moment I paid my final deposit—half of the total bill—their cooperation...
stopped. They gave me only two hours to set up before the ceremony, and when I said that wasn’t enough, I was told, “Most people have a wedding planner.” My friends who came early to help weren’t even allowed into the reserved space at the agreed-upon time, so nothing got set up properly. It caused unnecessary stress and tension between people who were just trying to help. Then, halfway through the reception—while I was the bride, enjoying my own wedding—a waiter came up to me demanding payment, even though we were told the balance would be due after the event. I was treated like I was going to skip out on the bill. It was humiliating. To top it off, after the wedding they charged my credit card again for the flamenco dancers—even though the contract clearly stated that the best man was paying for them and they already had his card on file. When I called, the woman I spoke to was rude and condescending, asking, “Well who did you think was going to pay for it?” Only after I pointed out the written agreement did anyone bother to apologize. The entire experience was a disaster. They treated me like a problem to get rid of instead of a paying customer on one of the most important days of my life. I wouldn’t recommend The Columbia for any event—especially not a wedding.

the Columbia's catering and events team made everything so easy. Our reception was perfect and everything we hoped it would be. Jill was in constant communication with us. Caroline let us tour the space and helped us decide what options would work best for us. The room we had was perfect and allowed us to have a nice intimate dinner with our family and friends and everyone enjoyed their meal. Plus, we had some allergies and special diets and the serving staff perfectly handled all of our requests. My family is still talking about how perfect the whole dinner was. And, the restaurant is so beautifully decorated and rich with history. This is a one of a kind place and made our wedding feel the same.

Sabrina was our coordinator and she was so helpful and patient with all of our questions and Ernesto was in charge of our room on our wedding night and he did a perfect job making sure everything ran smoothly. There was also a gentleman who worked at the restaurant who came to the rescue at the last minute to help all the groomsmen figure out how to tie their bow ties! 😂The food was delicious and we are so happy we chose to get married here!

My husband and I really appreciated that the buffet was refilled a few times and that our guests could enjoy themselves to the fullest. The bar (3 hour package for our room) was also lovely and the sangria was a huge hit.
The service of the two gentlemen who manned our bar and buffet was exceptional. They were so attentive and charming and they made us feel very welcome. Loreta was also so wonderful and we truly appreciated her flexibility and professionalism.
All in all, we could not mention any complaints from either ourselves or our guests. This is a perfect place for a unique event or dinner!

Their staff will also help with suggestions for anything else you may need. It is central located in Ybor city with a great combination of elegant decor and authentic old tampa/ybor flavor. est. Anytime I emailed her she emailed me back quickly. If I needed to schedule a time to meet her she was flexible and always so nice. The day of the reception they were great. The service was quick and the staff was very kind. They went over and beyond my expectations. They even cut our cake for us and brought out containers for people to take some cake home if they would like (no extra charge). If I ever have another event I will definitely have it a the Columbia. Very glad I picked them for one of the most important days of my life.
