Colvin House

We loved getting married at Colvin House! It is pretty challenging to choose a Chicago wedding venue when you live in California. But Sarah & Laura were so wonderful to work with. At one of our early zoom meetings, Sarah took us on a FaceTime tour of Colvin House so we could get a sense of the space and then made sure to accommodate our schedule when we were finally able to get out to Chicago a few months before our wedding. Colvin House itself is stunning. We loved all the character in the house - all of the details like the ceiling tiles, the sunburst window on the landing, the disco closet, the purple bathroom, and the basement speakeasy…they made the venue such a fun place to explore! All those details also meant the house itself didn’t need a lot of decoration, which was also great! Sarah was also our day-of coordinator and she was so great to work with. She helped us plan for all weather possibilities (October in Chicago could really go any direction, weather-wise!) and was accommodating of our questions and needs. She helped make every detail go smoothly on the day of our wedding and was a great point-of-contact for all of our other vendors. We had several children under 10 at our wedding and so we made little activity packs for each kid. One thing that Sarah did that I really loved - and that every parent at the wedding also loved - was personally hand-deliver those activity packs to each kid once they sat down at the tables. She also made sure their dinner was delivered first so parents were able to get kids settled before their food came. It made dinner go so smoothly and was such a thoughtful, personal touch! The only thing that was a bit of a hiccup at our wedding was that the dance floor got VERY hot. This is to be expected - it’s an old house and we had a lot of people who were on the dance floor all night (shout out to Modern Love DJs!) and Chicago had been experiencing a bit of a heatwave the week before our wedding! But it was pretty warm - so - brides - make sure your dress has some ventilation! Colvin House and Sarah were wonderful and I can’t recommend them highly enough to anyone in search of a Chicago venue! I can’t wait to get back to Chicago and check out one of their fun events!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience getting married at Colvin House last summer (July 2024). It's a lovely venue with both indoor and outdoor space, and enough natural beauty that you don't need a ton of additional decoration. There was a bit of a communication mishap early on--their lead planner left rather abruptly due to a personal emergency, and some services we expected to contract in-house were no longer offered. However, they had wonderful recommendations for replacement vendors, and we were absolutely delighted with how helpful and professional the staff were during both the planning process and the day itself. Could not recommend them highly enough!
