I seriously cannot say enough good things about this venue. I got married here last weekend and it was the best experience for a number of reasons. The owners are simply amazing people, and made me feel so at ease. I knew I was in good hands and that everything was going to be taken care of. They went above and beyond with helping set up, the cocktails were amazing and so was the food. I cannot recommend this venue enough! Thank you for the BEST wedding ceremony/reception.
I was having a hard time deciding where I wanted to get married. I tried bouncing ideas off of my now-husband who wanted an outdoor wedding, so we thought of a garden, the beach, a farmhouse... and I checked out places like those. None of them fit the vibe or the budget. So I lost all hope of finding a place... until I saw Commune Norfolk online. It's not outdoors but food would already be a thing that I didn't have to find a third-party vendor for, so me and the hubby went for it. It had an industrial style look with the red brick walls and concrete columns, exposed ceiling air ventilation, huge factory style windows, and cute cafe lights. It screamed "this is my style". The even had "movable walls", which could be rearranged to fit any layout you needed, which I needed for both a ceremony and a reception. I met up with my wedding planner here a couple of times to get things together... and we both ordered food here, because why not? A couple weeks from the big day, we had a tasting and everything was super delicious. The chef was amazing. The staff as well as the owner were very accommodating. I'm glad I got married here... and now, it's my new favorite place for brunch, lunch, whatever.
We had a wonderful experience with our ceremony and reception venue, Commune Norfolk! After a bit of rough start due to management changes, and inevitable Covid difficulties, Head Chef Kip and Event Director Jesse made sure we were respected and amply taken care of, with every detail of the food and drinks lovingly considered, researched, and executed for that perfectly decadent guest experience we dreamed of. The custom cocktails they designed just for our tastes, the professionalism of Jesse and her event team in transforming the space during our cocktail hour, and the care and consideration Kip puts into his menus is evident. We had the vegans and native Florentines alike raving over the quality and innovation of our family-style, Virginia-sourced menu. They respected our budget, were an exceptional value, and their amazing charitable organization, the Crop Foundation, received support from our wedding, and who can be mad at that? We'd absolutely head back to Commune for any event where the food and the vibe are crucial aspects of the day, and where you want the very best in staff attitude and professionalism. Thank you for making our day perfect, Commune!
My wife and I were married at Commune this August and it was everything we hoped our wedding would be, all thanks to the staff. Jesse, the events coordinator was especially terrific. A few questions and she knew just what we wanted, and made it so—arranged the room, helped us decorate, kept the shipping sailing smoothly all night, and even distracted two of our more belligerent guests from their antics (ages three and six). And the food, let’s not forget: I’m told it was astoundingly good, though I don’t remember eating much myself in all the marital commotion. I do remember our tasting, though, ahead of the wedding, and the food really was spectacular. Such are the perks of a wedding at Norfolk’s choicest farm-to-table dining establishment. Kip, the head chief, is a culinary savant, and gladly worked with us to get the menu just as we wanted it. Aside from Jesse and Kip, the entire staff was stupendous—kind, accommodating, diligent and all around all-stars. What more do you want? Food: delicious. Venue: beautiful. People: the tops. Will definitely return for my second wedding (just kidding, hoho!).
