I was drawn to photography before I began studying the craft. There existed an undeniable pull to see through the camera's lens and capture the still moments of life. My mom gave me my first camera when I was 7 years old. It was a retro Kodak that photographed film. I immediately fell in love with taking photos and getting them processed. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a home where film was processed in a dark room. These are fond memories from growing up with a photographer mother. This was a part of my childhood and I thank my mother for introducing me to photography.

We used Jelani for both our engagement photos and wedding photos. He had all the lighting and equipment to capture all the shots in the different locations. During the ceremony he captured great pictures and wasn't distracting or at all disruptive to the ceremony. We had him out for our wedding day for 10 hours to get get the entire day. The pictures he produced came ahead of schedule and looked great.

Jelani was awesome. We had our wedding on 12/22/24, and we hired him for 4 hours. He was professional and communicated well throughout. I liked his laid-back vibe, it was definitely in line with us and our wedding. I cannot say enough good things, he was exactly what we wanted and exceeded expectations! We received our photos 2 days later and they are wonderful.

Jelani helped us capture our simple park wedding ceremony into beautiful photos that came out better than we ever could have imagined. He pays attention to the light, angles and scenery and other important details I had no idea can go into a photo. We do not take photos often and are often bad at it so the photos we received were better than we expected. Jelani confirmed our appointment time when it came closer to the wedding and arrived right on time, providing the relief that we needed that things are going as scheduled. Jelani helped us get started with different ideas for pictures which activated our creative juices with ideas of our own and he was more than open to our suggestions. He gave us a mix of photos that are structured plus photos in our natural environment which made the selections even more plentiful. My now husband likes structured photos and I prefer more natural environment photos so this was a win-win for both of us. I highly recommend Jelani for your photography needs and just talk to him on what you want and he's very warm and open. Thank you Jelani, for making our simple wedding look beautiful.

From the moment I reached out to set up a surprise proposal/engagement shoot until we received our photos, he could not have been easier to work with and the entire experience was perfect. Despite changing the time and venue multiple times, Jelani adjusted his schedule without hesitation to suit our needs. After describing my plan on how to keep the proposal a surprise, Jelani executed it flawlessly and captured the raw emotion of the moment. He then led us through an hour long photoshoot, and you could tell he throughly researched the perfect poses for the occasion. Jelani is the best! I am so happy I was able to hire him for my bridal portraits and wedding photographer! We did my bridals the day of and even with so much chaos happening he knocked it out of the park and was able to capture beautiful portraits and all the little moments! He worked so well with the other camera guys I had onsite doing video and was willing to do video as well to help them out. He was so polite the entire time not to interfere with their work but also wasn’t afraid to take charge when he needed too, a true professional! So thankful for him! Our photos are amazing and he made me feel so comfortable and pretty! I also have to add that we had a lot of wind and it was all outside so this wasn’t an easy task. While taking my bridal pics my veil flew out of my hair and was headed into the river. Jelani literally leaped into action ran the route and intercepted my veil like he was in the Super Bowl. My dad still talks about it.

We love Jelani! We had him as our photographer for a girls weekend and the girls were so excited it was the same photographer for the wedding! We had him for our small ceremony and big wedding. Our families loved him as well and couldn’t stop talking about how great and personable he is. We have loved having Jelani for all our events. He really takes the time to get to know what you are looking for and you as a couple/friends and family. And he makes it so much fun! Not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera but he does a great job of meeting everyone where they are and capturing beautiful moments and shots. Couldn’t recommend him more!! You won’t regret it!

Jelani was amazing. I normally don’t photograph well but the angles he got had me excited too view the final prints. We had him capture us with our guests which some we hadn’t seen in years and they came out breath taking. Additionally the way he captured our ceremony it’s like a poster for a movie. We hired Jelani Davis as our wedding photographer and we have no regrets! Communication from initial contact to after the wedding was consistent, professional and timely. The entire process from booking to receiving the photos was seamless and smooth. Jelani was very flexible and understanding of the specific shots we were looking for on our special day. He is very conscientious of the surroundings and has a knack to streamline and captivate each moment of our wedding day. We LOVED the candid shots and the specific couple pose shots. He was able to guide every shot revealing his professionalism and skill set. Although it was very hot during our photoshoot, Jelani was able to keep our spirits high and made us laugh throughout the shoot. We highly recommend Jelani and we will be contacting him again for future photoshoots!

Jelani was an amazing photographer and professional throughout our whole wedding. We had an outdoor wedding in the middle of July - so it was hot. Our ceremony was also delayed 20mins but Jelani got us back on schedule by coordinating the photos quickly and confidently. He was definitely not shy about directing traffic and ensuring there were no distractions in the background of our shots. Every extra request or extra picture opportunity was met with professionalism and honesty. We told Jelani we wanted a particular pose or shot and he told us where to stand, where to look. There was never a “no that won’t work” response. We couldn’t be more impressed with the outcome of the photos either. Those “must have” shots of placing our rings, saying our vows, candid shots throughout the day, he even captured the lighting of our unity candle with flame crystal clear on a sunny day! It was impressive. Highly recommend!

Conscious Dream was literally a dream. They made the stressful wedding pictures easy and gave us a story. My husband and I are not ones for picture taking, but they made us relive our story on our wedding day. It was so special, professional, and the pictures turned out amazing. We are so happy that we chose Jelani as the photographer for our wedding day! He was very professional, friendly and extremely active in taking photos from as many different angles and viewpoints possible, which resulted in a lovely collection of photographs that really captured the essence and atmosphere of the day which is exactly what we wanted! Best photographer I’ve ever worked with!! Jelani was so helpful in helping get everyone together for photos and coming up with poses and placements. The video they created is absolutely gorgeous, and the 400+ photos really captured the love and ambience of the event. So I need to give this guy a shout out. We changed our wedding last minute a only gave ourselves two months to plan it. We changed it to a extremely small wedding for just us and our close family. I started looking up photographers only like a month and a half to month before the wedding was. While researching I was finding all of these big photographers and non of their replies were personal. I emailed this guy on a Saturday or Sunday and he replied within a few hours. I was amazed. We had multiple locations (that were all pretty close together) that we wanted him to go to. He had no problem with that at all. Our wedding was pretty much a disorganized mess but in a good way. He kept everything going and moving. He but up with my crazy family with a bunch of babies. He was in great spirits and just all together a great guy! We had a lot of fun being his customers and if we ever need to hire a photographer again we will definitely reach out to him. We lost my mother in law unexpectedly about two weeks after our wedding and I emailed him to see if he had any more photos of her from the day. (The last true day we got to be with her) and he was able to send me more pictures. We love all of the pictures he took!!
