he Ranch’s financials, told me in writing and over the phone that I was required to provide my personal card information for the sole purpose of “incidentals.” Was totally fine with this and understandable. However, when waking up on the first morning of our stay, I got a notice from my bank that my account was overdrawn. I was shocked because I had over $500 in my account the night prior which I had saved for vacation activities, gas, etc. keep in mind, I’m only 27 years old so $500 set aside is a lot to have in this economy for my age. Contigo had used my personal card to DOUBLE CHARGE me for my entire 3 night stay all over again. Not only was I lied to about the card only being used in the case of incidentals, but they dishonestly charged me an additional $572 instead of debiting hotels.com for the amount I paid in march which is what was supposed to happen. After frantically contacting Tawni again to inquire about what happened, she acknowledged there was a payment error and initiated a refund. The only problem was that bank processing times can take 48-72 hours to post a refund, so I had zero dollars in my bank account until after my stay was over. I was then told it was ultimately my responsibility to carry additional funds in the case of a merchant “error,” and blamed me for their mistake. Ruined our entire vacation that took us several years to save for as what was supposed to be a special trip. Since my account was overdrawn until after our stay was over, we had no money to do anything but stay at our cottage. I had to work for UBER around Fredricksburg and deliver food, just to have gas money to get back home. We are more than devastated and nothing was done to fix the immediate problem as an absolute error from Contigos end. I was sick to my stomach for days over how badly this was handled. No alternative reimbursement, no offer for extra days, NOTHING. Just an “ultimately you’re responsible for our mistake,” text after working our butts off to afford a 3 day vacation for ourselves as a young, married couple.
