My sisters in law did a phenomenal job planning my bridal shower at cooking skills academy. I love cooking and enjoy sharing my dishes and this was a great way to get my friends (both novice and expert) involved in my passion. Cooking skills academy is located in a building that used to be a golf store but is now transformed into a space for kitchen design and classes. Chef Paul designed a class for 25 in which we made apple brined pork chops, sweet potato gratin, and green beans with bacon. Most of the ingredients were mise en place (already prepped) but the chef explained all the cooking techniques and tips before letting the group loose to cook with our own burners/kitchen tools in groups of two. At this point, Chef Paul walked around supervising each group to make sure the dishes looked correct, then once everything was in the oven or keeping warm, we sat down at a long table together. When all the dishes were all finished, Chef Paul and his assistant called out each group's #s and we played our own dishes. Small dessert bites were provided by my sisters and then we opened gifts. Most people would complain about going to a 5 hour long shower, but most of my friends have confessed this was their most favorite shower ever!
