This space was incredible. We loved the use of the garden patio space more than anything. After painting a mural inside Coterie, my husband and I decided to get married and host ou...r reception in Charleston.
So, during the inception of Coterie, there was actually the beginning of two humans falling into the feeling, that maybe, we should get married. I think that energy still lives at Coterie.
We worked with team to create a totally original 7 course menu at the time along with craft cocktails made by their amazing bartenders. Our guests were able to have cocktails unlike any others I have had at a wedding.
The overhanging flowers on the patio made it feel like a dream. We were able to use all the beautiful greens to create a garden party reception along with our florals. More importantly, the originality of this venue shows during events. It is warm, different, dream like, and it feels like you can truly enjoy yourself. And that's because, it isn't just a wedding venue gimmick. It is actually a space of creative talent within hospitality.
For the couple that wants to create an original experience - this is the right fit. As an artist who creates murals, I never wanted to have a basic wedding at a venue where everything is picked from a big binder of outdated vendors, and Coterie allowed me to escape that dreaded experience. I was able to craft an evening that felt truly me.
We worked with their team to even create a menu that honored the backgrounds of an Asian-Caribbean//American menu. We were able to have oysters, charcuterie platters, and beautiful cocktails with our name melted into our ice cubes and cocktails featuring our name + art. We cut our cake inside with the art as our backdrop.
I loved this venue for so many reasons, but more than anything, I recommend it for the bride who wants something she can dream of, but can't quite find at a traditional wedding venue. The creative talent at Coterie can make it happen. I am a lot when it comes to what I imagine, but Coterie was able to work with my planner in Charleston and make this happen. For reference, I live in NJ, and this was planned and organized by their team working with my planner to get the right rentals for napkins, table clothes, vases and more. This allowed me to feel safe that I was able to curate the exact vibe I was going for.
