Chris and co. were easy to work with, rocked the reception, provided excellent live background music during dinner and the cocktail hour, and did a great job handling the audio at our ceremony. They're not cheap (though not particularly expensive, either), but don't let cost scare you away. The peace of mind you get from hiring professionals like them is well worth the cost. Highly recommended.

We are hoping this review helps inform other brides & grooms plan their special day, as we would recommend Cover Story overall but also believe some improvements can be made to their business. We previewed the band in Salem the fall before our wedding, & they excitedly told us they would be able to play an acoustic Grateful Dead set during dinner. When our wedding coordinator tried to confirm that with them, she experienced these conversations as rude & unhelpful. Fortunately, they sorted things out, accounting for some venue restrictions, & a single guitarist performed during dinner service. Unfortunately, the groom’s favorite Grateful Dead song was never played during the reception as previously discussed. Also, the scheduled pre-wedding phone call was in theory helpful; however, it could have been much more effective & forthright. We went through the play- & do not play- lists thoroughly. Despite this, these lists appeared to be neglected during the actual wedding reception (suggestion: bold, asterisk, & DIRECTLY communicate to them your top songs - multiple times - & do NOT rely on the lists or even the lengthy wedding document alone). Countless times the bride approached the band to ask for specific songs from the playlist to be played, only to be disappointed & told they did not have those songs. This is confusing: if they did not have the song mp3s, why would they not communicate that to us during the phone call so we could send them the mp3s? When I raised this issue with them post-wedding, they blamed the wifi, which seems a tad last-minute & demonstrates poor preparedness. Overall, the musicians are talented & engaging with the crowd. The packages were reasonably priced. While we enjoyed working with them overall, there were some flaws along the way.

And the quality of the vocalists, which was very important to me, is really awesome live – a lot better than the recorded videos you can watch online. nd hear about our wedding. During planning they were extremely responsive and answered all of our questions. On the actual night of our wedding the band was truly phenomonal. They accommodated all of our requests and even learned to play specific songs that were important to us. The dance floor was packed from the moment they started and playing and they never even took a break. They totally understood our vision of what we were looking for. I had people stopping me all night asking where we found our band and saying they were the best they’d ever seen at a wedding. Our wedding was truly the perfect night, and We can’t thank Chris and Cover Story enough!

My wife is from Brazil and they were able to accommodate Bossa Nova style music for cocktail hour and even played a few extra Brazilian songs throughout the evening. In addition to the band and DJ, we used their up-lighting and Photobooth services - which put everything over the top. The up-lighting provided a warm ambiance and the photobooth produced endless entertainment for our guests. We received a completed photobooth albulm - which is always great to look over after the wedding. We want to thank Chris and the Band for helping make our special day a little bit extra special.

They did an amazing job keeping the flow of the wedding between speeches, dinner, and dancing. They kept the mood going, playing a wide variety of music. Our guests were on the dance floor the entire evening. The acoustic guitar during our cocktail hour was also a solid touch. Working with Chris and team before the wedding was also extremely easy. He kept it honest, and guided us through the whole process. We were so impressed by the performance, AND the band was well within our budget. Would highly recommend to any couple looking for a kick ass band to play your wedding.

It was songs everyone knew with the added feel of a live concert as sometimes when our group got really into a song they would point the mics at us and let us belt out as a group our favorite lyrics. The band was easy to plan with, we filled out our worksheet with "play" and "don't play" lists from their long playlist, picked our special songs, made the schedule of events, etc., and just had a phone meeting a week beforehand. We saw them at a bar in Portsmouth during planning too - they were a hit there as well! On the day of the wedding we left it all in their hands and they really made for a party we will talk about for a long time! The guests really just raved about the band, and it was clear how much we loved them when we begged for an encore at the end of the night! The band obliged, and finally everyone left with huge smiles, carrying our shoes to the after party 😉 Thanks Cover Story!!

He was very thoughtful of our wishes and made sure to meet them. He even showed us how to properly cut the cake which we will always remember. :) The band brought down the house with their incredible music and talent. Everyone had such a blast and no one wanted to go home! We highly recommend Cover Story Entertainment. Wish we could do it all over again!
