We had the pleasure of working with Craig at Craig Paulson studio for our engagement shoot, our micro wedding, and our large reception. We are so thrilled with the photos that Craig took for all of our events, as well as our experience working with him. His years of experience in the industry were very helpful when we were planning out the timing and events of our large celebration. He was very accommodating when we had to postpone our event multiple times due to the pandemic. He did a great job capturing the intimate moments from our micro wedding, as well as the excitement from our 200+ person reception. We feel lucky to have incredible shots in both New York City for our engagement shoot and micro wedding, and at a more rural setting for our large reception with beautiful fall foliage. We had second shooters who worked with Craig for all of our events, and they took amazing photos as well.
Our wedding was a multi-cultural, Indian and American fusion wedding. It was important to us to have a photographer who had experience shooting at both types of events, and Craig has substantial experience with both. He took beautiful photos of the elements from both of our cultures. He did an especially great job shooting our Baraat, capturing all of the dancing and fun.
Our final photos are beautifully curated and edited. We have incredible portraits, and really special candid moments captured. We are so happy with the pictures and the memories that are forever commemorated with them.
Our photos are absolutely beautiful! Lorraine was amazing to work with! We took photos in Central Park, and in most photos, you would think we were in a secret garden even though there were a million people just outside the frames. Lorraine was also very fun and calming, and a great person to spend our wedding day with!
Craig and his team are the absolute best! We had Craig and Lorraine all day at our wedding and they were amazing. They captured every shot that we wanted perfectly (even with a challenging 40 person wedding party) and we love our album. They were so easy to work with and responsive leading up to the wedding, on the day of, and when putting together our albums. We would definitely use them again for future events and can't recommend them enough for anyone looking for a wedding photographer.
We had Craig and Lorraine photograph our wedding in August at the Greenpoint Loft. Working with them was definitely one of the best decisions we made. From the beginning Anja and Craig were very responsive. We met in person and filled out a survey to ensure that the team was fully prepped for the day of. It was a great way for them to get to know us as a couple and for us to get to know Craig. On the day of, Craig started with our bridal party and Lorraine was with my husband and his grooms party. He never felt in the way. He was just doing a great job documenting everything that was happening. Everything felt very natural while the photos were being taken. He gave great direction without feeling pushy and adjusted quickly based on light, who he was photographing and what was going on at the moment. When it came time to really take pictures as a couple we had so much fun! We had heavy rains that morning, and he was constantly making sure that my dress didn't end up in a puddle. We had never taken photographs as a couple before and I thought it would be awkward, but it really wasn't. The rest of the night was a whirlwind. After the wedding day my mother kept saying how amazed she was watching Craig shoot. He seemed to be everywhere at once and constantly photographing. We just received our top 100 photos and are SOOO excited to see the next. They are so beautiful! His photos are timeless and elegant and fun and do not sacrifice anything. He caught so many laughs, and great moments. We would definitely recommend Craig and his team to anyone looking for a photographer.
We learned of Craig Paulson and Kim Espinosa through our friends after seeing our candid photos from their wedding. Kim and Haim were a pleasure - they were creative, hardworking, on top of checklists and their offices had great communication throughout the entire process. They moved seamlessly throughout the wedding taking beautiful pictures of our us and our guests. They were sincere, funny and became part of the party. We were so happy to work with them and now we will have these beautiful pictures to remind us of our day.
I can't say enough good things about Craig and his team! He had shot my cousins wedding ten years ago and I've been looking at his fabulous pictures on our walls since then. So when we were getting married I knew it had to be Craig! His team was so wonderful and easy to work with leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding was just so much fun, Craig, Lorraine, and Alex were so easy to have around. They literally got fabulous candid pictures of everyone and made us feel so comfortable on front of the camera. I gave Craig a list of "special shots" we wanted before the wedding and he made sure we got each one.
Now, having seen the pictures, I'm even more in love. They took so many and I literally can't choose a favorite because they are all so unique and beautiful. Each one is worthy of a frame!
I recommend him to anyone I know getting married! You'll be so happy you chose them!
Em & Nate 2018
AMAZING. hire them. The fastest responses of any of my vendors, so lovely, polite, professional. I seriously forgot they were there. I hate taking pictures and somehow they made it such a fun experience. HIRE THEM.
they know how to move quickly, while getting the perfect shots.
I literally had no clue where they were at anytime aka they blended in with the party :)
the most common feedback i get when sharing my photos is "these look like a magazine!!! who was your photographer?!?"
amazing and hope to work with them again
These guys were the best. We worked with Kim Espinosa and she was extremely professional (especially when trying to keep our bridal party on time with pictures), very sweet and very knowledgeable about where to take pictures. We got amazing pictures that people are still raving about. I definitely recommend this team they were amazing!
Sadly, we did not know about Craig when we got married BUT luckily we do now and have used him every year since our 12 year old daughter was born for family Christmas photos. Not only are the pictures fabulous (sometimes we have trouble selecting which pictures to include) but after receiving our card, many families/friends comment how much they love our card and look forward to it every year. If you want a unique, non-studio portrait experience, this is your photographer. This could be the start of a life-long relationship!
So much fun! We had our engagement shoot with C.P.P. in NYC.
They were very opened to some of the area we wanted to shoot and the rest is history starting from union square to LES, Nolita, Chinatown area. We captured amazing shots and had a blast! It was relaxing and adventurous shoot. I would highly recommend their team there turn around was impressive!
We used Craig Paulson for our wedding and, while we wound up with some beautiful pictures, the experience was very frustrating. Customer service is not their strong suit.
We were told that in order to have some fairly basic retouching done on our photos, we would have to pay an extra per hour fee for the labor. Every time we had to retrieve items from their office (flash drives, photos, photo books, etc.), they would not mail them to us without a high charge, and we had to find a way to be at their office during limited business hours (regardless of the fact that we needed to be at work then too). When speaking to anyone in their office, I felt like they thought they were doing me a favor. In spite of informing them that we did not care much for detail shots of shoes, ties, etc., we received dozens if not hundreds of these photos. Also, when we initially booked Craig Paulson, we loved the idea of getting a small highlight reel type book of 100 photos soon after the wedding. I am not sure if those pictures were randomly selected, but some are extremely unflattering to the point of being almost comical. We will not use or display that book. We also used their album service to create an album of our personally selected photos and had numerous communication difficulties in that process. For example, after an email with comments was not responded to for over a week, I followed up only to be told that the company was having problems with their internet.
They took enough photos that some turned out great, but given how expensive this studio is relative to others we looked at coupled with our frustrating experience, I regret choosing them and would not do so again.
Best choice in the entire process of planning a wedding. Craig and his team were amazing and so wonderful to work with. From the first meeting, i felt comfortable with Craig and his team for our wedding photographers. They were professional, got great photos, and also delivered everything so much faster than I anticipated! He was the first vendor that we booked, and I couldn't have been happier!
My wedding at Grand Cascades Lodge in Hamburg, NJ, was a rock n roll glamour wedding, and Craig went all the way there with us. I know I shouldn't be writing a review before I see the photos, but I just know he is going to deliver a really special product that we'll treasure forever!
Craig's amazing sense of space, his spontaneous journalistic photo style, and great sense of humor is what drew me to his company in the first place. He is definitely pricey, but if he digs the vibe of your wedding, he will throw in some great deals because he knows he'll have some opportunities for really cool shots.
If you are looking for traditional, super-formal shots & ridiculous glamour Photoshopping, or lighting tricks, Craig is not your guy. He captures real beauty and true-to-life, authentic moments. He and his second shooter Michael (he has others on his staff who are all amazing) are pros at sneaking quietly around, snapping everyone and everything at the most snappable time.
If you're down for first-looks (aka bride reveals her outfit to the groom before the ceremony) and taking all the family and bridal party pics first, Craig is also your guy. He comes with an info sheet of all the necessary formal portraits and snaps them all in a flash (no pun intended). He is very sensitive to family dynamics, and he makes sure everyone gets the shots they want. As for the main couple, he pulled us away a few times pre and post-ceremony, as well as post-reception, and captured romantic, fun, and unique shots that definitely reflected how we were feeling together at every moment.
My favorite set of photos for sure was the short session we did with our band. All the guys were groomsmen in our wedding, so I threw on a white transparent faux-latex biker jacket and bedazzled Lennon shades, and we did some awesome walking shots and badass posed photos.
Needless to say, I cannot wait for the flash drive, 100-page brag book, and all the other goodies he'll deliver to us shortly. (Don't worry, he can make you a traditional album if you want one) He was excellent!!
Craig and his team are extremely nice, and have great, very professional service. I spent a lot of time researching photographers, and chose Craig Paulson bc he was responsive, seemed really pleasant, and had a great book of reportage-style photography that we really liked. Our engagement photos turned out amazing. However, on the day-of the wedding I felt he was a bit rushed. Being strict about how many hours they were present rather than allowing time to capture a lot of the correct portraits, even after paying for an extra hour of service. He captured beautiful images of the ceremony and the reception in our wedding which was in a dark venue with tall ceilings. However, I really wasn't happy with the couple portraits, which it seemed there weren't many of at all. Most of the portraits captured city-scenes more than close-up portraits of us as a couple. Same went for the family portraits, which turned out dark in the location he chose and which were very rushed. Apart from the portraits, the more candid photos of the wedding itself were shot beautifully and we were happy with. They also offer great photo album services and a lot of options.
But I'm already confident enough to know that we're going to love them. Jean took our favorite picture of ourselves EVER at a wedding we attended so we were thrilled to work with the company for our own wedding. Even just getting a glimpse of the shots on Michae's camera day-of, I know they're going to be something special and we have been nothing but happy with the whole company from moment one.
We were referred to Craig Paulson photography through a friend. Working with Craig and his team was an absolute delight. Craig is an artist and it comes through in his wedding photography. It was very important to my husband and I that our photographs not look stale and boring. We wanted our photographer to capture candid and special moments of the wedding rather than being posed in portrait after portrait. We could not have been happier with the outcome of our pictures. We had so much fun shooting our portraits with Craig on the day of our wedding and it was all captured in images that we will have forever.
Personally, I think the photographer is your most important vendor. You will be working with your photographer for the longest amount of time on the actual day of your wedding. Craig and his staff are very easy to work with and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. The photographer is also responsible for giving you images of your wedding that will last a lifetime. Unlike the flowers and the music, the work your photographer does will be your most lasting, tangible memories from your wedding. I cannot say enough good things about Craig Paulson photography. If you are looking for eye catching, artistic and original photographs, look no further.
Jean Spencer from Craig Paulson photography was the best! She had great ideas, was receptive to what we wanted and was just super professional from Day 1. We haven't gotten our pictures back yet but I know that she will have captured what we wanted. They have many photographers in different budget ranges and can work with what you need.
