Cravin' Flavas

We were let down on our big day. We travelled from northern Virginia to waldorf Maryland to find a black owned caterer for our wedding. Even went to his home and met his family. On the day of he was an hour late with his child in tow. My husband was contacted while in the limo on the way to the venue. Can you imagine? As if we didn't have enough nerves with Hurricane Ian passing through that weekend. None of the food or drink was what we were promised. We had less guests then expected and still didn't have enough food. The quality was clearly rushed as chicken was pink and appetizers were ice cold. We asked for strawberry lemonade and was given tea instead that we didn't ask for. Very saddened that our hotel food came out better than the wedding. This was a Kenyan wedding and all our aunties were judging the food. Thank God we didn't make menus because we would've been even more embarrassed. I believe we wouldn't have had much of anything if the venue didn't step in to help with cooking. This is upsetting because we wanted good soul food cooking...the opposite of what the venue provides. It was apparent it wasn't the same cook on all the dishes as the rice was overly salty but the mac n cheese didn't have 1 pepper flake to be found. I believe he was double booked the weekend of our wedding and we were put on the back burner. We planned for 3 years through a global pandemic for this moment. It's frustrating to see your chef post about his own wedding while simultaneously ruining ours.
