I have been in the events industry for over a decade and knew that, if and when I ever got married, Mark Frye and the Creative Occasions team would be my very first choice. My husband and I initially planned a micro wedding but ended up having to pivot to something even smaller. Mark was with me every step of the way and, even though the larger vision never came to fruition, he still absolutely nailed my vision of a bright and bold bouquet with touches of whimsy (plus coordinating boutonnieres and a corsage for my husband and parents). When he brought the bouquet out, I was speechless for about a minute or so--the bouquet of my dreams! My mother also reached out to him a few weeks before our wedding day and brought a piece of my grandmother's silver to be used for an arrangement for our celebration brunch at their home. This arrangement, paired with my parents wedding china, was one of my favorite details from that day. We are so eternally grateful and thankful to Mark and his team for sharing their talents with us to make our perfect day come together.

Mark and his team were absolutely fantastic! He was so easy to work with and had some incredible ideas on how to bring my wedding day vision to life. My bridal bouquet was the prettiest thing I have EVER seen. Mark took my ideas and favorite flowers and created the most beautiful and perfect bouquet! He also helped create a chapel feel/vibe for our ceremony at the Hotel Roanoke. The centerpieces were beautiful and guests even commented on how wonderful and floral the ballroom smelled. My husband was very impressed with how the flowers from the ceremony were repurposed for the reception as well. I took home extra flowers from bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces to have them preserved in epoxy and some pressed. I love that the quality of the flowers has made it possible for me to enjoy them in these precious keepsakes for decades to come! We used Mark and his team as our florist for our wedding on October 1st at Natural Bridge, Virginia. Since we live in North Carolina, we had to coordinate everything remotely. Mark was incredibly accommodating with last minute changes and even offered to pick up a vegan dessert for my son and his wife to bring to the reception venue since the bakery was right across the street from his shop. I hired Mark to do the flowers for a memorial brunch celebration of life. He was very responsive and easy to work with. I described the event and venue and he shared his thoughts but was open to changes along the way. He even advised me on table line s which worked great. The buffet center piece was beautiful.

Planning a wedding during a pandemic is never the ideal situation.. Mark made it feel effortless and fun! We met over zoom multiple times to make sure everything was right and I even changed some things/added to my original requests during our last conversation (about a month out) and he happily accommodated. The florals were actual masterpieces that I wish I could have kept alive FOREVER. They truly brought my wedding to life. I'm anxiously awaiting the photos of my wedding so that I can relive the full blooms of our day.

I cannot say enough good things about Mark Frye and his team at Creative Occasions! My daughter has worked with him at many weddings, events and photo shoots, so when it came time for her own wedding, Mark was the first person we called. Mark was so amazing to work with. Sadly, due to Covid I never got to meet with him in person. I spoke with him a few times over the phone and shared with him my style and vision for my wedding and showed him some pinterest photo ideas. From just that, Mark put together all of the florals for our wedding EXACTLY how I imagined them. My bouquet was STUNNING- my arbor was decorated beautifully, and the groomsman and bridesmaid flowers were perfect. Every single thing Mark put together was exactly the way I wanted it. The flowers he chose were so beautiful and fit the vibe of my wedding so well and complimented each other perfectly. I can’t say enough good things about him. He was super responsive, super kind and eager to make sure everything was perfect, and super talented. I am so glad I chose Creative Occasions to decorate our wedding so beautifully.

I can’t say enough good things about working with Mark. So that this review is helpful for others, I’ll frame our wedding. First off, it was in October of 2020, so it goes without saying that my husband and I were working with a LOT of uncertainty. My husband and I are Hokies located in Chicago, IL, so we were planning the whole wedding remotely and did not get to see anything until the day of. Mark went out of his way to understand our wedding vision, communicate with me, answer all my questions, and even hopped on Zoom appointments to walk through the details of each part of the wedding. Many vendors we worked with shared their anxieties with us and drew attention away from the actual joy of the wedding to “how could you possibly be doing this right now?” Instead, Mark only shared enthusiasm and was empathetic to all the uncertainty. My matron of honor had to cancel 10 days before the wedding (covid complications), and we were changing the seating arrangements for the reception 48 hours before the wedding. Mark was able to take my matron of honor’s bouquet and turn it into additional boutonnieres and a table arrangement with very little notice. I was impressed with and so thankful for his flexibility when it felt like everything was spinning around me. Additionally, Mark was able to take a brooch that has been passed down to the women in my family for generations and incorporate it into my floral arrangement. Luckily, my husband and I were blessed with a flexible budget for our wedding. When I first talked to Mark, I knew that we wanted to go with him. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and was willing to work with my requests. Therefore, I didn’t spend a lot of time comparing to other florists. So, I’m not sure how his pricing compared to others in the area. However, I believe he and his floral arrangements were worth every penny. If you are working with a budget, he is knowledgeable enough to recommend particular flowers that are in season or easier to come by to save some money. If your ceremony and reception are in different locations, he is also able to figure out the logistics to repurpose flowers from the ceremony at the reception location to save some money and resources there, too. After the reception, he told us that he could leave behind arrangements for family members and guests. Something I did not do as effectively as I would have liked was communicated with family members that they could take these arrangements home. (Make sure you remember to do this! 😊) Some folks took them home, but others were repurposed at the reception location (Mountain Lake Lodge). I highly recommend Mark as a wedding florist!!

I loved working with Mark throughout the past year! He was always so helpful and knew exactly what I had in mind for my florals and design. The flowers and bouquets were SO beautiful, and I can't imagine having anyone else as our florist for our wedding!!

Creative Occasions made our day amazing. Mark is so easy to work with and makes sure to work with your budget. We gave him our color scheme and told him to work his magic. We couldn't have dreamed of better looking flowers. The colors were so bright and the flowers were big and full. We had the pleasure of meeting with Mark when we were planning our wedding and he was so accommodating and helpful in helping us decide what flowers/centerpieces would fit within our color scheme and budget.
