Frank and the team at Crested Hen were an absolute pleasure to work with. The wedding was gorgeous even with it pouring rain on our day. It truly is such a dreamy spot with all the wild flowers and the old barn, and there is a very sweet progression from ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner and reception.
Frank and his team were so flexible with our crazy ideas, and made it all work for us!
My daughter was married on July 1 at Crested Hen Farms in High Falls, N..Y, in a beautiful refurbished barn surrounded by acres of lawn filled with benches, chairs and comfy tables where guests could gather and look out at a gorgeous stream. All this amid vast fields. It was amazing how Frank Macagnone and his staff, including a venue manager, a bar manager, an assistant manager and others -- a team of of valets among them -- transformed the enormous interior into a beautiful space filled with enough tables to seat 160 guests for a sit-down dinner cooked on premises and served by our caterers. And yet there was still enough room for a DJ's booth at one corner next to a dance floor that got plenty of use after the dinner and toasts. (There was also an outdoor bar sheltered by an overhang, and several bar packages to choose from.) Despite what had seemed a certain forecast for rain, necessitating a tent to be put up outside, with seating provided for all the guests, the weather cooperated and my daughter and son-in-law had a picture-perfect outdoor ceremony. It couldn't have gone better! I must emphasize what a terrific person Frank is -- so friendly and accommodating, way above and beyond! From the very start, six months earlier, he was able to reassure us that all would work out. And it did! I feel like we've made a friend, and I hope to keep in touch with him. I can't recommend Crested Hen Farms enough. Sincerely, Mitch Vinicor
Crested Hen Farms is a magical place, and it enchanted me from the minute I stepped onto the property. With the gorgeous historic barn, idyllic creek, and sprawling fields and gardens, it has a fairytale quality that's hard to describe unless you visit yourself. Being there is like walking through a dream, and it feels less like a wedding venue and more like getting married on a property that's been in the family for years. Frank and his team treated us like family throughout the entire process and were so amazing about letting us visit multiple times before our wedding. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place for our wedding, and loved that we were able to use Crested Hen's antique tables, chairs, and dishes for dinner. They also have a shed full of antique decor you can use, and we set up little vignettes that added the perfect rustic touch. Our guests loved having so much space to roam, and the venue has lawn games for use during cocktail hour. We feel so lucky to have had our wedding at Crested Hen!
Frank and his team at Crested Hen are simply the best. They went above and beyond to make sure our weekend was gorgeous and memorable. It was such a comfort to know our guests and our party were in such good hands. We can't wait to have an anniversary party at the Farm in the future!
This could NOT have been a more perfect venue for our daughter's wedding! It is owned by Frank, a warm and generous man, who was readily available throughout the entire process of planning and then executing this very special occasion. Crested Hen Farms is located on a quiet, country road, and provided complete privacy for the event. Its property consists of large sprawling lawns and well-maintained gardens, and sits alongside a wide creek. The wedding ceremony took place right by the water, in the shade of two beautiful sycamore trees, both hundreds of years old. Then came the cocktail hour, with flowers everywhere and plenty of space for people to mingle. The reception was then held inside an old barn, beautifully cared for and extremely welcoming. Frank's crew had the floors and tables highly polished, chandeliers and soft lights lit up the room, and everything within felt "magical". After a delicious dinner, while many chose to dance, others wandered outdoors to sit by the fire pit, or chat in the well-lit large bar area. From the hors d'oeuvres, to the last bit of dessert, the food provided by Kevin and Patrice of EP Experience was fantastic. In addition to this wonderful venue, our fee included two large private houses across the street. Besides providing a place nearby for people to stay, it offered a wonderful After Party location, with a big lawn, chairs, and another fire pit. In every respect, Crested Hen Farms was, for us, the perfect place to celebrate our daughter's wedding.
Where to begin?! Frank and Rich are two amazing business owners that genuinely care about their clients. We got married at Crested Hen during covid and they were there for us every step of the way. The venue is beyond gorgeous and they take pristine care of the property. I could go on and on but if you're looking for a venue or considering having a wedding here, just do it! There are a ton of venues out there to choose from (and we considered many) but we could not have imagined getting married anywhere else or working with anyone other than Frank and Rich. They went above and beyond to ensure we had the wedding day we always envisioned and they delivered in every aspect and more.

Best Wedding Venue! We absolutely had the best wedding ever and couldn't be more grateful for Frank and Rich. From the first visit to Crested Hen, to our wedding day, every time it got more and more magical. I found Crested Hen years ago on Instagram before I met my husband and always felt this connection with the space. When my husband and I got engaged I knew we had to go and when we went, we both fell in love right away. We knew we had to have our wedding there. Frank was so welcoming and friendly and Rich was just as friendly and funny to speak with. We even got farm fresh eggs from the hens, and they were delicious!
Frank and Rich were so amazing to work with and helpful, we were so lucky to have them. We had some bumps in the road with planning and they made sure on their end to make it as easy as possible and went above and beyond to help us. They were so responsive throughout the whole process and were so organized. Also Frank and Rich really know the area and gave us the best recommendations and directions. We are so thankful for them and feel like we gained friends out of Rich and Frank. We will miss talking to them all the time !
The venue is absolutely breathtaking and the day of the wedding the space really came alive. The venue has a barn full of vintage, collectible, hidden antique gems you could use for your wedding day - that was absolutely amazing and helped save us a lot of money on décor and went with the vibe of the venue. The venue also provided wooden farm tables, chairs and mismatched silverware and plates, that looked absolutely stunning! I wanted a rustic romantic eclectic style wedding - and it came out perfect with everything from crested hen!! Also the property is meticulously maintained with beautiful landscaping. After all the planning and minimal decorations and our personal touches (cause the space is beautiful on its own) everything looked perfect. Also I must note, the Crested Hen Staff the day of the wedding and leading up did an amazing job facilitating everything from table setup, valet, to setting up the bonfire, the heat lamps, thank you all! All our pictures came out STUNNING and we wish we could relive this day over and over again.
We also rented the houses across the street for friends and family and it was a perfect add on to our day. It is a quick walk across the street to the venue and made it easier for our family to get to and from.
We couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. It was a one of a kind wedding and everyone we came continues to say how amazing the venue and wedding was. Thank you for everything and helping us make our dream wedding come true!
From our first visit on a snowy day to kind texts the day after the wedding our experience with Frank, Crested Hens owner and Richie, his venue manager was nothing short of magical. We truly felt like family and had all of our needs met for our big day. The property is stunning with its flowers, plants and decor and they offer a prop house with everything you could dream of for a perfect rustic farm wedding. A DIY wedding can seem intimidating, but Richie and Frank at Crested Hen offered so many highly qualified vendors and suggestions that made the process very easy. I highly recommend this place for a Hudson Valley wedding close to NYC!

Where to begin! Crested Hen Farms was an amazing venue for our wedding. CHF was one of the first venues we saw, back when I was still trying to wrap my head around what type of wedding we wanted. The farm happened to be down the road from where my mom had just moved and as soon as we arrived we were hooked. Frank and Richie are amazing people and they really dive in to the process with you. The venue is beautiful, with the combination of the barn and nature allowing couples to get as creative as they want during the planning. We wanted to have the ceremony overlooking the river and then the reception inside the barn, but there are a million different ways to do it. You bring all of the vendors in but Frank is there to answer any and all questions you may have, complete with recommendations!. Almost all of our vendors were from the Hudson Valley area, many of which had worked at the farm before - it created a nice familiar vibe through the process.
Another wonderful bonus is that they have their own antique wooden tables and chairs, along with all sorts of china and flatware. You can rent and bring anything in if you prefer a unified look, however we really loved the old wood and mismatched place settings. They have a private house where the wedding party can get ready and endless photo-worthy spots for your photographer to play with. And true to their name, they have a a chicken coop with all different breeds of chicken!
I had never thought much about my wedding day, but I surprised myself by how much fun it could be and a lot of this comes from how wonderful working with CHF was. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful venue for such a special occasion!
From the first time we met with Frank and Richie through our perfect wedding day 18 months later, every bit of our experience with Crested Hen was exceptional. Beyond the stunning, beautifully kept venue and breadth of included elements, like the gorgeous pews and props, it was Frank and Richie's unbelievably warm and accommodating approach that made everything about the planning process and the wedding day so special. It truly felt like we were planning a wedding at the home of close family friends - they were totally invested in making everything perfect and special for us, and every touch was helpful, thoughtful and personal to us. The team held our hands through every part of vendor selection, planning, and made themselves available whenever we had questions or requests. We loved having the farm to ourselves for the week of the wedding and the day following, and the freedom to make it 'ours' for our week. Our wedding day was so much more beautiful and special than we even imagined it would be, and we loved hearing from our guests how much they loved everything we did about the venue. The property lends itself so well to a fantastic party, we loved watching our guests totally enjoy the outdoor spaces, the gorgeous barn, the perfect bar area, the fire pit, and the lovely ceremony space. One of our favorite parts of the weekend was sitting around the fire pit the morning following the wedding reliving the day with our immediate families! Everything was absolutely perfect and so warmly, beautifully done. We are so grateful to CHF for our dream-come-true wedding week and planning experience.
Our daughter's wedding took place this past Saturday, May 5, 2018. Up until 2 weeks earlier it was supposed to be held at a different venue that was not completely built, as they had promised. We desperately scrambled to find a place for 165 guests, all coming from out of town, to celebrate the wedding. After much scouting around the area, we came across Crested Hen Farms. They said they could do our wedding, even though they usually start their weddings a little later in the season. To say that we were overwhelmed by our experience with Frank and Rich at Crested Hen Farms, is truly an understatement. From the moment we met these two wonderful gentlemen, we knew we had made a fabulous decision. We made our decision just 12 days before the event. We were told that that the venue would be wedding ready by May 5th and it was perfect! From the moment we signed our contract, the staff at the farm started cleaning up after the winter, planting, and readying the venue for the most fabulous wedding ever. The grounds are spectacular. The ceremony was held on the lawn overlooking a gorgeous stream with beautiful wildlife all around the huge property including a bald eagle nest which fascinated our guests. The venue is so unique with an enormous amount of antiques that are available for use by the brides and grooms. Two days before the wedding my daughter went with her wedding planner to choose the antiques that they wanted to use as accessories. There was nothing that we couldn't use. Every request we had was answered with an enthusiastic "no problem" and it was done immediately. The barn holds the dance floor and band and about 100 people. We added a tent for the extra people which was just beautiful extending from the barn. The cocktail hour was on the lawn and in the bar area which is made with reclaimed wood . We were just blown away by the uniqueness of the venue. All chairs and tables, china and silver, are antiques. They are all one of a kind. When they are set up, the barn becomes the most beautiful venue I've ever seen. But, the best part of this whole experience was working with Frank and Rich! I feel like we have made friends for life. They worked tirelessly to make sure that our couple was happy with every single detail. They opened the main house to a team of 6 hair and makeup specialists and about 15 ladies in the bridal party early in the morning on the day of the wedding. They fed us and made us so very comfortable. There was never a moment of hesitation to fulfill every request we had. Their staff was superb in every way. Every guest at our wedding raved about the charm, elegance and all over beauty of this venue. I only wish we could replay this beautiful event. I never dreamed that it could be so fabulous. Thank you, Frank and Rich and the rest of the staff at Crested Hens Farms, for truly making this the best day of our daughter and son in laws life!
The venue was stunning and the staff could not have been more friendly. They made for the perfect day!
I attended a wedding there in July of 2017 and it was one of the best times I have ever had at someone else wedding. Crested Hen Farms was magical. The barn was a perfect place to celebrate my friends wedding. The staff--from the valet parking crew all the way up to the owner--were polite and professional. And the fire pit at the end was the perfect way to top off a perfect wedding.
We got married at CHF in May 2017 and had the wedding of a lifetime. The venue is absolutely stunning, rain or shine, and was really like a dream come true. The venue owner, Frank, is the most welcoming and kindest person ever! We could not have asked for a better experience in every single way. We are now looking for excuses to have another event at the Farm in the future. Thank you both Frank and Richie for meeting and exceeding all of our expectations, and letting us have a wedding that was truly "us."
My fiance and I visited this venue as an option for our wedding back in early 2016. The property is beautiful and we were blown away with Frank's hospitality! After we had a tour of the property, he invited us back into his home for tea and gave us some fresh eggs from his farm as a parting gift. They were the most delicious eggs we had ever had. Frank couldn't thank us enough for stopping by and considering them for our special day.
We ultimately did not choose this venue for our wedding as we needed more indoor space to accommodate the amount of guests we had, but we would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for that picture-perfect rustic wedding!
Attended a wedding at Crested Hen Farms earlier in October. It was stunning- I wish I had my wedding there. Wasn't a bad drive from Manhattan either and I loved their fire pit!
My daughter got married at Crested Hen October 9 and we couldn't be more pleased! You will not find a more beautiful setting. The ceremony was by the creek with guests seated on antique wooden pews supplied by the farm. The cocktail hour was outside centered around the lovely bar area, and we moved inside the barn for dinner and dancing. With a buffet and the dance floor, the barn comfortably accommodated our 100 guests. The farm supplied wooden farm tables, along with mix and match vintage chairs, china and glassware. There is also a "prop house" with all kinds of additional pieces that can be used to decorate the grounds and the barn. Crested Hen's owner Frank and property manager Richie feel like family. They were committed to making the wedding perfect and special in every way that was important to us. They were so easy to work with---helpful, patient and kind throughout. They require a wedding planner to coordinate everything since this is an "a la carte" venue where you put together everything yourselves--all the vendors, decor, etc. The farm staff on the day of the wedding were very pleasant and responsive as well as efficient. Many guests commented on how magical the venue was and how it was the nicest wedding they had ever attended!
I am fortunate enough to say that my husband and I were the first couple to get married at Crested Hen Farms. We arrived on the farm January 2016 to take a look at this new venue and fell in love right away. It's a completely blank slate and we envisioned something truly romantic and different than a typical cookie cutter wedding. This 1800's dairy barn had been completely renovated, but kept its unique charm with its vintage Edison light bulbs and classic blue stone patios. The reclaimed wood bar is picture perfect and one you want to drink a signature cocktail from.
Frank (Property owner) and Rich (Property manager) are so accommodating, full of knowledge, creative ideas and were available for numerous visits prior to our big day. (It was truly amazing to see the ground's and barn's transformation from January to September) The property is very well maintained, beautiful gardens, and perfect for an outdoor ceremony along the Rondout Creek. My wedding planner was thrilled with the catering hookups and layout of the property and felt that it was a prime wedding venue and location.
On our wedding day, the bridal party arrived at the Farm to breakfast, tea and coffee and lots of space for the 6 of us to get ready. Rich and Frank help us with any last minute things, kept the evening running smooth with the help of my wedding planner and the Crested Hen Team. As far as I know, our wedding ran as smooth as butter with no beats missed.
With all of this said, if you are leaning towards this wedding venue, a wedding planner is a must. There are many aspects that need to be covered and coordinated because it is a blank slate. You bring all your own stuff in. Caterer, rentals, bathroom, flowers, music, cake, and decor to name a few.
All in all, we loved our experience at Crested Hen Farms.
Thank you Frank and Rich! You made our classic vintage wedding a reality!
Love, Kaitlin and Frank Ruffini
Attended the first wedding on the property at Crested Hen Farms and what a peaceful and romantic setting. The place is stunning and carefully maintained. The staff are generous with their time, ideas and lovely to work with. It was a really wonderful experience. Highly recommend this for your Hudson Valley wedding.
We went there to look at the place for our daughter's wedding. When they say rustic, that's an understatement. And they haven't even had any weddings there yet. I'd approach with caution.
