I am so glad I chose Dan and critical entertainment as our wedding dj. From the initial meeting where they were super polite and helpful. Their goal was to make our experience what we wanted it to be. The day of the event they were very professional. On time, and very receptive to any requests we had. He used the songs we asked for and I gave him some freedom to play things based on the crowd. The dance floor was packed a lot and it was only a 75 person event. They are great at reading the crowd to see what works. I would 100% recommend Dan and his crew to anyone whether it be their wedding or any special event.

This team was awesome! Arrived on time for our wedding, organized the event exactly as we wanted it, and was flexible when things didn't go exactly according to plan. My mother has mobility issues, and was going to be introduced at the table, but she decided on wedding day that she was going to do the walk into the patty with the bridal party! Mike helped make that a smooth reality and it made the day.

Mike Festa and his team were excellent from the very beginning when we booked Critical Entertainment Disc Jockeys for our Wedding. We decided on the combo package of DJ Services, Photography, and Videography. His prices were reasonable for our budget and booking multiple services also came with a discount. The payment plan really helped , which allowed us to pay up to a week before our wedding.Throughout the process Mike Festa and his entire crew made us feel like family. Also his overall honesty and caring throughout was a nice change in todays society. Mike Festa has over 20 plus years experience in which his expertise, planning and coordination really showed during our big day. The uplighting services he provided were phenomenal! The banquet room looked like something out of a movie! Everything from the music selection to keeping the dance-floor full was on point. The participation dances were awesome! We hired Critical Entertainment to DJ our wedding at Bill Miller’s Castle on Oct. 23, 2022. Mike was our DJ. I loved their online portal. We were able to customize every song and add songs to our playlist all from our computers. Mike kept everyone on the dance floor all night. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because he walked into our bridal suit without warning like he was supposed to be there, and never introduced himself. I am from out-of-state so I’ve only spoken to him once over zoom. It was weird to me that he walked into a room where we were all dressing, with a drink in hand like he owned the place. I also didn’t like that he stopped playing music before 10pm. He played his last song at a quarter to 10 and was packed up and out the door before we even had time to clear the dance floor. Overall I recommend booking with them. The ease of planning and his ability to DJ outweighed the negative.

Hired Critical Entertainment for my September 17th wedding - Jim was our DJ and he was wonderful! He was super attentive and was always checking in on us throughout the night making sure we were happy and if we needed anything. The music was on point throughout the night and he played pretty much all of the requests that we selected as well as our guests requests. Would highly recommend them!

I highly recommend this company for your wedding! Dave did an awesome job with the music and MC! Everyone was so easy to work with and they had everything I needed. They were reliable, kept to their word, honest, and flexible with any ideas of changes I wanted to make. This company also had a great photo booth so many fun props, backgrounds and frames styles. Loads of choices to choose from. And the photo booth attendant was great as well! Will definitely use this company again for special occasions.

Mike was fantastic. For all the 1,000+ things you have to worry about on your wedding day, Mike takes stressing about the music & party completely off your plate. Didn't have to even think about it the day-of. I felt completely confident tat he was our guy from the first meeting. He's so personable, and you can tell he wants your wedding to feel unique. Not like the "wedding factory" places I kept stumbling upon. His website was helpful and user friendly. My wife and I were able to get all of the must-have dogs, intro music, etc all neatly in one place. I wish I could give Mike 6 stars.

We had Mike Festa at our wedding at Maneeley's in South Windsor, Ct. Everything went so smoothly and we have no complaints. Mike went above and beyond than what was required. We had hired Mike for DJ'ing and his photobooth as well. He also took it upon himself to take some photos throughout the day and some videos! Said photos and videos are available on his website and they are very quality. We did not hire a videographer and now we have a few videos that we can always look back on. He did this all on his own, and we did not even know about them until he told us the next day. All the guests loved the photobooth, which I think is a wedding necessity nowadays as another thing to entertain your guests. He was very professional and kept everything organized during introductions, but kept it fun for everyone at the same time.

We were blown away with Dan. His professionalism and energy are unmatched. He went above and beyond to make our night nothing but spectacular! He surpassed our expectations in every way. Dan made sure he had every fine detail prior to our event to ensure our night went smoothly. He ended up becoming our event coordinator when ours left without notice. We also had a lighting package and it was done so beautifully. I highly recommend.

DJ Dan was AMAZING!!! He made sure the dance floor was popping all night long!! Super professional, hilarious and he was better than my bridal attendant! Made sure everything was going smooth all night and checked in to make sure we were happy! Videographer Dan was perfect too! We used an outside photographer and they both got along perfectly!! Photobooth was a HUGE hit to the wedding! Everyone loved all the props and loved how many people you can squeeze in a photo!! :)

Critical Entertainment did a FANTASTIC job for entertainment the day of our wedding. After rescheduling our wedding due to COVID we found Critical Entertainment. The first meeting my husband said that he automatically felt comfortable with Mike and trusted him. During our wedding - we didn't have ONE song where the dance floor was not packed. They did an awesome job getting everyone up and moving, feeling the vibe of the room, and all while being extremely professional. If we were to do it all over again we would choose them. Could not speak more highly of them!

Dan Schmidt was beyond fantastic at our wedding!!!!! His personality and professionalism were perfect! He guided us through all the formalities and had everyone partying and dancing all night long! He was awesome! My guests have been telling me how wonderful he was and that I have to refer him to anyone who needs a DJ!

Jim and the rest of the crew were fabulous! We had such a great time with them. They played exactly everything we wanted to hear and Jim was very attentive to us. They gave us a flash drive right after the wedding so it was fun to go through those photos right away. We had our wedding in our backyard, which I am sure is even more difficult than at a venue as a DJ to ensure everything runs smoothly, but Mike did an incredible job. We dealt with unpredictable weather and extreme heat but our guests still had a great time all thanks to him. He really understood our guests and played music that was to everyone's liking. Critical Entertainment exceeded all of our expectations. It is hard to describe their services as DJs since they played so many other roles on our special day- they were truly more like wedding planners than just the people playing the music! The yard games (ring toss, jenga, cornhole, connect 4) were huge hits in addition to the photobooth and props. In addition to making sure the night ran smoothly, they also offered support to my father who needed a pep talk after his father daughter dance and before the father of the bride speech. They also took amazing footage of the dance floor throughout the entire night. I would HIGHLY recommend Critical Entertainment for all our your wedding needs. The price was affordable, the online wedding planner leading up to the event was easy to use, communication was clear and concise, and they added such an element of entertainment to our special day. Mike and his team were great at our wedding! They were supportive and there throughout all the changes and rescheduling due to COVID. His online system was easy to use and even had tons of suggestions. Everyone was on the dance floor all night and we had a blast! He shared pictures with us the next day and it was awesome to see them all so soon after the wedding!

I had critical entertainment Dj photo booth and photography and all 3 was a success they made sure everything came out perfect and were very friendly 😃 mike made sure people were on the dance floor dancing and having a good time . Mike was an amazing DJ, he was always available to answer my questions via email, phone, or text. Mike planned everything perfectly, he knew what songs to play at what times, he got the crowd dancing, and was able to take last minute requests which i greatly appreciate. After all the hard work that my wife and I put in setting up the wedding we just wanted to sit back and enjoy the day. What we wanted most was for someone to take control and let us relax. Critical entertainment did just that for us. When we showed up to the venue everything was already set up and organized with the staff. With just a short briefing, Dan had the rest of the wedding under control. The sound for the ceremony was crystal clear and set to a perfect volume. The music was right on time and exactly what we planned for. Mike and Dan were very diligent when making sure we had the exact version of the songs we chose for the entire wedding. Their wedding site allowed for us to customize each part of the day very easily and made us feel comfortable that everyone was on the same page. He makes you feel like he cares about your event more than you, which convinced us about how much he loves his job and professional he is. We totally felt like we were in good hands. He wanted us to choose some songs that we'd prefer to hear, and he managed the rest of the songs. Also, we picked some songs in another language which Mike is not even familiar with, but again he managed it so very well. Critical Entertainment was one of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made for our wedding. The music was great, and everybody loved the party. Our guests just cannot stop dancing. Mike and Cory made our day incredible. They kept our day on schedule while still getting all the photos I asked for plus so so many more. I never felt rushed by them. It was a perfect balance of photos and dancing on my wedding night thanks to Cory. Whatever I asked for Cory made sure it happened. The specific songs I requested, played during cocktail hour just as I had asked and it was wonderful. Mike got everyone on the dance floor right from the start and kept them there the whole night. Our reception ran so smoothly because of Mike and Cory and I couldn’t be more thankful.

We got married in May of 2019 at an outdoor venue in CT. My biggest worry was the sound for the outside ceremony and the sound in the outdoor dance floor. My worries were put to rest as Critical Entertainment put on an amazing ceremony and reception. The equipment was high quality and the professionalism exceeded our expectations. I thought Mike and his team were great! They were prompt in communication with me (which is a huge part of my rating) and he went above and beyond to get the timing right for some of my picky song desires! The only note I have is that there were some songs played during dinner that I would have liked to have danced to, so make sure you specify which ones you really want During which part. The online worksheet was very easy to be able to choose music, and the schedule of events for the wedding (intro, speeches, cake cutting etc). Mike was able to get specific music we wanted that he didn’t have, and checked in with us before the wedding to make sure everything was correct. When we began to plan our wedding we knew right away who would be our DJ and photographer. We’ve hired CE for many events in the past and they have never let us down! Our wedding had approximately 200 guests and the dance floor was always full and they played music for everyone. Everyone had a great time! We especially appreciated that the DJ and photographer worked together and coordinated the day so that we could enjoy our wedding and not have to worry about what was happening behind the scenes. With a 22 person bridal party this was a big help! We would without a doubt recommend Critical Entertainment for all of your wedding needs. They never disappoint! Thank you Mike and Corey!

From beginning to end mike made my husband and I feel confident that everything was going to be perfect for our wedding reception. Man did he deliver! The music was great, everyone was up dancing. He even gave out glow sticks and maracas!!! He was interactive to help include the crowd in group dances...I really can’t say enough positive things. Everything was perfect. Mike thanks again for making my husband and I’s night memorable. It couldn’t have been any better. I would say if anyone is looking for a DJ Mike is your guy.

Mike killed it at our wedding! The uplighting was a beautiful and fun addition. He is very involved with the crowd in amping everyone up. He even gave out maracas and glow sticks! You can't go wrong with Critical Entertainment!

We went against the recommended DJ services for Critical Entertainment DJs and couldn't be happier!! We interviewed both but at the end we felt most comfortable with Mike. There are a few reasons: (1) Critical Entertainment DJ'd 3 weddings we went to before and they were awesome! Including one where the couple only wanted '50's based music... seriously, it was a good time! I still don't know how Mike pulled that off! We knew he was good and that was very comforting. (2) The icing was everything being in one place! The photographer (Cory Talton Photography) came to our appointment and showed us a sampling of his work and it was PHENOMENAL! Cory does the photography and he came to meet with us during our initial meeting with Mike which saved a ton of time from having to meet with everyone individually. Add to that both of us felt instantly comfortable with Cory and really enjoyed his work. It was a great presentation! Critical Entertainment was one stop shopping and we LOVED that! We got the DJ, photography, photo booth (have to have the photo booth!!) and uplighting (trust me, you want it) all in one place on one invoice! That also meant everyone worked together and in unison. We had ZERO issues at our wedding (CT Wedding Group will get a separate review... they were phenomenal) but from the outdoor ceremony to the music, to the lighting, photography and Photo Booth it all went smoothly. Also, a BIG plus, we left with our Photo Booth album at the end of the night!! It was so nice to have something in hand to sit and look at the next day. I am truly over the moon with their services. The final piece which no one wants to mention but we certainly kept an eye on, is the budget. Critical Entertainment provided the MOST services at the BEST price and that was a huge bonus!!! Oh, did I mention the custom GOBO that they had made and shining on the wall... SPECTACULAR!! More than a few people told us that this was the best wedding they had gone to in a while! Awesome DJ, an on top of it photographer, Photo Booth and cigar roller = a wedding to brag about!! Our Pastor was awesome too but I will save that for another review... Our wedding last night was unforgettable. Mike and Corey were nothing but professional and so genuine. My husband and I will aways be a grateful for all those late night phone calls making sure everything would be perfect for our day. They treated us like family and we can’t wait to see photos!

Mike was the 1st and only person we considered for our wedding DJ and it was THE best decision! Our package included himself, an additional DJ and Cory as our photographer. Mike helped me through the song choices for our ceremony and made it all easier on me. With the concerns of a wedding day and the anxiety of what can go wrong, Mike's "performance" was NEVER a worry and he truly didn't let us down! Cory got to the event early and lit up the room with his captivating personality and charming smile. I underestimated the importance of a photographers demeanor until he started snapping photos! Smiling and laughter was natural and constant with Cory behind the camera. I am still getting texts about how much fun he was! He undoubtedly loves what he does and in turn greatly contributed to creating the best night ever! And Mike, I can't say enough! He was professional, punctual and dead on for every song. Our guests were so excited he was on the dance floor leading line dances. The music and lighting will be talked about for years to come. I am still dancing around to the playlists he perfectly orchestrated. He was thoughtful and thinking on the spot of more ways to make our night special and memorable. An extra song dedicated to my mom, helping us with cake cutting, keeping our guests dancing and happy!! My husband and I are so pleased with Critical Entertainment and every service they offered and executed perfectly. Thank You Mike and Cory for everything!!!!!

I will start this by saying that Critical Entertainment did a great job Dj-ing and MC-ing at my wedding. The reason I am only giving them 3 stars instead of 5 is for the hassle I had to go with before and during the wedding and the irritating, borderline harassment, I had to endure after. My brother found Mike and Critical Entertainment by searching The Knot for local DJs for my and my husband to use for our wedding. We were pretty excited becasue the reviews were very positive. When we sat down with him, all he could talk about at first was how great his business was and all the awards he has gotten, which is great, everyone should be happy with their accomplishments. What irritated me right off the bat was that he used the fact that he had gotten all of those awards as an excuse that he didn't have to go tour our venue before day of. Now, if I was getting married in a typical wedding venue where everything is the same as others like it, that's one thing, but I was getting married at the Zoo. Completely different set up situation. He pretty much told me he didn't have to go before day of to look because he has looked at pictures...That didn't work for me. I asked if he could meet up with my wedding coordinator at the zoo so he could make sure he knew where he would be for our outside ceremony and our reception in the carousel building. He FINALLY went and it was a good thing too, because my wedding coordinator said there would have been an issue with set up otherwise. Also, they would send emails about trying to add-on stuff, like up lighting and things like that, I know that is usual because it is a business, but it just felt impersonal. The day of the wedding arrives, and he is there setting up. I was told by a few family members that he was incredibly rude to them and kept bragging about the places he had been before for weddings. Not the time, nor the place. Before the ceremony he comes and asks me questions, like if it would be ok if he could change after the ceremony, and other stuff he shouldn't have bothered the bride about. So, he was at my wedding ceremony in a t-shirt... The ceremony went beautifully. Everything was great, except he used the wrong version of the song I walked down the aisle with my dad. The reception was so much fun! We were all dancing, and everyone was having a good time! When it came time to cut the cake though, I felt rushed through it, he went so fast. The rest of the reception went great and everyone had so much fun! There were a few issues, but nothing too out of the ordinary. What really irritated me and why I took some stars away is the fact that, starting on the day of my wedding, I was emailed about leaving a review for him. I was emailed twice the day after my wedding about leaving a review, I was emailed twice 5 days after my wedding, when we were on our honeymoon, the day we came back from our honeymoon, he sent me a text about leaving him a review, and then I was emailed again about it. I do not appreciate that, I think it is tacky and very irritating. With all of the stuff I had to do when I came back from our honeymoon, reviewing our DJ was near the bottom. I definitely will be reviewing all of my vendors because our wedding so amazing, but it will take me a little while to get back into the swing of things. Again, he was great to use as a DJ, everyone will be on the dance floor, just be prepared to deal with his inflated ego.
