the most meaningful moments of our wedding. Our photos from our Charleston engagement shoot were even PUBLISHED in Carolina Bride Magazine! So much more than just photos, they truly are heirloom quality pieces. Truly, her photography will be cherished for generations to come. Before meeting our photographer, my biggest fear was that our photos would look like that couples section of the high school yearbook. We definitely didn't want anything too cheesy or generic. While she does lots of portraiture, many more from her shoots are of a photo-journalistic or documentary style. Even in doing portraits, she doesn't do stiff posing. Her photos just have that something extra. Though she helped to coach us into some of the shots, we were so relaxed and happy that we completely forgot that she was there. Critsey shot our wedding with her husband, Thomas Geist. They're always in sync - both relaxed and deliberate. They communicate so well verbally and non-verbally - each watching what the other is doing to get different perspectives/shots to compliment the other. Besides the gorgeous photos, we absolutely love Critsey as a person. She is so down to Earth and laid back. It can be extremely nerve-wracking to have photos taken professionally the first time. Critsey can make even the most nervous-Nellie/control freak/type A person (aka me) feel super relaxed and comfortable during a shoot. Critsey also helped me to create a book of sensual and beautiful photos for my husband's groom's gift on our wedding night. It gave us a moment to pause and to have quiet time together after such a wonderful whirlwind of a wedding. We were then able to switch gears and to just focus on each other during our first night as husband and wife.

I checked out her blog, site, and social media (I’m not a stalker, I just couldn’t get enough), I didn’t care what it cost I had to have CRP, and showing my husband her work convinced him to choose her and Thomas over anyone else. I seriously could not stop looking at not just her work at weddings but anything she catches in her lens, some photos I literally could stare at all day. It’s the type of work that would be in a chic gallery in NYC, or in a magazine spread (which she is always in the popular bridal magazines, she even got published in Carolina Bride’s book, how cool is that?). When you look at her pictures youll notice she just has an eye for light and the way she works it is majestic! Also, I love the geometry in her work, you can tell she has a thing for symmetrical patterns. I’ve looked at some other photographers, and there are a lot of great photographers, but Critsey isn’t a photographer she is a professional artist and the camera is her medium, and she has a unique style. Her face needs to be beside the word photography in the dictionary. People spend hours and hours in photoshop trying to get what comes so naturally to her. My husband and I have never participated in a professional photo shoot, but Critsey and Thomas made us feel so comfortable and guided us along the way. They made us look like super models, as my mom says, and we really did! I even use one of the headshots she took from our engagement session on my resume! Looking at my bridal portraits was spell bounding! I love them so much, I cannot stop looking at them. I can’t wait to see what they did at our wedding. Working with Critsey was truly an honor, it’s like having a world renowned artist paint your portrait. I feel so blessed that CRP was able to capture the memories that my husband and I will cherish for life, and that (Lord willing) our children, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren will be able to look at in awe of the love she captured that day. When I finally chose her, there was this sense that she was as excited as I was! From the beginning, Critsey was great with communication and was never more than a few days in responding to my emails. I decided to do a boudoir shoot with her when she was visiting Chicago so I could finally meet her and get a fabulous wedding present for my hubby. They scoped out the resort the day before our wedding and took some amazing sunset/sunrise and resort photos to add to our album. On the day of the wedding, Critsey showed up while I was getting my hair and makeup done while Thomas took care of the boys, family, and ceremony location pre photos. I have to say I lucked out when I got this husband and wife team. They both have their own amazing styles; yet compliment each other so nicely. Critsey calmed my nerves several times and reminded me on many occasions not to sweat the small stuff and just focus on being beautiful (which she made easy with her artistic talent). During the wedding, I barely noticed Critsey or Thomas, yet when we got our photos back, I can’t understand how I didn’t see them everywhere, because they got so many shots! They are great at working under the radar! I also have to say they are great at time management. We lost a lot of time when some things went wrong and we had to start the wedding late. However, from looking at our photos, you never would have guessed we were pressed for time. We had all the right shots and at several romantic locations and lighting. They made sure to do everything in their power to get the shots that were important to us. They caught every detail of the reception that I could imagine, from the cake to the champagne flutes, the favors to the centerpieces, to birds, and waves, a rainbow, the way a butterfly landed on my bouquet, the lights of the city at night, the kids being their goofy selves and so many other things. Several people commented on how involved they were and were very impressed. I was so thankful I spent so much effort on my décor because Critsey made it worth that effort with all that she captured. Our after session was the next day. Critsey and Thomas were entirely dedicated the entire time they stayed. We were up and shooting before the sun rose and shot for several hours. Shortly after we started, it rained so bad that the entire resort shut down. Luckily, Critsey and Thomas jumped right in and got lots of fun shots anyway. They even gave us an extra day to make up for the weather so we could do the underwater shots that I had been dreaming of! Even after our wedding, Critsey made us feel special. We were not interested in traditional wedding photo's that we all have seen and begrudgingly been part of. Critsey's work stood out above all other photographers because of her use and understanding of background beauty; colors, patterns and shapes to accentuate a couples beauty. With today's technology anyone can take good photographs of people, but a true photographer can create art that will last generations. Our engagement photos were taken at Freedom Park. Admittedly I was apprehensive about the location because I have been to the park many times. But after viewing the photographs, and the beauty Critsey was able to draw from the natural landscape, I was shocked! If we had any doubt about Critsey's talent, they were eliminated. Our wedding...began before lunch and went on well after midnight. Critsey's style is to capture the day without getting in the way. Critsey captured many candid moments that we will cherish forever, but also took more traditional photo's that didn't seem cheesy or overtly staged. Here's the kicker! We had two ceremonies, Christian and Hindu. Hindu inside with all the color and tradition of an Indian wedding, followed by an outdoor Christian wedding under the canopy of a beautiful old tree. Critsey captured both ceremonies like only a true professional could; able to direct and organize when needed, yet seemingly disappear, only to have captured the moment as if it were our own mental snap shots. Critsey's talents are remarkable, and near genius! Critsey Rowe is a True Professional Photographer, and one that my family highly recommends.
