With nearly 3,000 square feet of event space, the ballroom can accommodate up to 300 guests and offers the exclusive ability to welcome guests through the grand stairway of the historic entrance, a unique opportunity reserved only for private, after-hours events. Alternatively, say “I do” with an outdoor ceremony in one of two courtyards, which offer unique water features and towering trees, depending on the space selected. The courtyards are also fantastic settings for cocktail hour and al fresco receptions. The Museum’s largest event space is the indoor Friedman Court, which has the capacity to host up to 700 guests in an airy and modern environment with stunning art backdrops.
To take full advantage of this one-of-a-kind venue, couples can treat their guests to private gallery access during the event. The Crocker Art Museum offers dedicated event staff who will work with you through your booking process and be present on the wedding day to facilitate building access. Amazing and inspiring art collection! Loved it more than any in SF! Was able to see everything in about 3hrs. Highly recommend. Plenty of metered parking nearby even on a weekend.

During a heatwave that extended into the weekend, I was trying to think of a family activity/outing that would keep us cool. My 13 year old (who has a fondness for art & history) suggested that we visit the Crocker Art Museum. My wife and I had...
n’t been in years (I believe the last time I visited was when I was in grade school), so we loved this idea and were excited! Unfortunately, this was a last minute decision, so we would only have 1.5 hours to enjoy before they closed.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly employee at the desk who issued our tickets. We started at the French art exhibits, which if I’m being honest, I found to be boring and a bit depressing. However, this feeling quickly dissipated when we entered the modern art sections. One of my favorite pieces of artwork was “Empanadas Dulces/Sweet Turnovers;” something about seeing a multigenerational family coming together to accomplish one goal is beautiful to me.
Overall, we enjoyed the Crocker Art Museum and are planning a return visit for the near future (this time around we’ll plan for a longer visit)!

Amazing collection from time periods and variety in types of art. Carefully curated art pieces nicely positioned and placed. Beautiful display setting, lighting, spacing all done perfectly. One of the top best art museums.

The Crocker Art Museum is way bigger than we expected—there’s seriously so much to see. We didn’t even have enough time to finish the third floor! Every room is filled with beautiful artwork, from classic pieces to more modern installations. It...
’s the kind of place you could get lost in for hours. Definitely planning to come back soon to see the rest. Perfect spot for a date too—relaxing, inspiring, and easy to enjoy together.

Of special note is the unique descriptions for almost ever single piece on display in the permanent collection that gave immense detail on the artist, subject, and “what to focus on” that helps give special context on the piece.
