We got married at Danada House in Wheaton, so we decided to use the Crowne Plaza for our hotel block. We were extremely happy with our experience here.
Katie Smith, their Caterin...
g Sales Manager, was a pleasure to work with. She was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. This hotel also offered us the most benefits for booking with them and did not have many contingencies which we appreciated.
Some of the perks for weddings include:
-Their bridal suite is fantastic! It's super cute for photos. Although it is decorated in all blue with blue couches, it is definitely better than your typical hotel room background. Plus the rate for all of their rooms was the same or cheaper than all other hotels in the area, so to have this awesome bridal suite at a very affordable rate was more than I could ask for!
-They also have a grooms suite which is just as big as the bridal suite but not as cute/girly. It is perfect for the guys getting ready or if you just need another large suite.
-All the rooms were clean and had a nice set up. They also had light blocking curtains which is a huge deal for me, as well as refrigerators. All the rooms seemed to be updated and modernized.
-The pool area is really nice and big. This is great if you have any kids that want to swim or even time yourself to swim.
-They give you 1 free shuttle round trip for every 10 rooms booked. This is more generous than some of the other hotels in the area.
-If you provide welcome bags, they will hand them out to your guests.
-If you book 10 rooms they will provide a standard room to the bride and groom complimentary and if you book 20 rooms they will upgrade that complimentary room to the suite.
-The lobby area is very open, clean, and welcoming. It looks like a nicer high end hotel.
-They have a restaurant attached (Glen Prairie Restaurant) which can do private after parties.
-They also offer breakfast for guests for an additional $10 per person.
If we ever had any issues, Katie was quick to fix it. She always kept us in the loop and touched base frequently.
The day of our wedding, we were greeted at the front desk by Carlo, who was super excited for our wedding. We loved his excitement and his eagerness to help. We could tell that our guests would receive the welcome bags and shuttle information and would be well taken care of.
The breakfast is in the Glen Prairie restaurant but off in a private area. For $10 (as long as you buy at the front desk) it was totally worth it as you get coffee/juice and it's a small buffet breakfast. It's nothing extravagant but definitely better than the typical free breakfast offered at most hotels. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, cereal, etc. I definitely had enough to eat and it was worth not leaving the hotel.
Our after party was at Glen Prairie Restaurant from 12-2AM. They did a fantastic job. We had two bartenders for our party of 30-40 people which was perfect, they kept up with everyone's drink orders. We ordered mini burgers for our guests which was kept full the whole time and was a big hit with everyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful the entire night and let us play our own music in the bar.
I would highly recommend this hotel in general but especially for any events or room blocks as they go above and beyond for their guests.
I love the crowne plaza hotel it's so nice and fancy
The venue is beautiful and was perfect for our ceremony and reception of around 100 guests. I did all the planning and menu tasting with Frank and Sarah. They were both very help...
ful and things were extremely smooth until the night of the reception. There were a few service hiccups that made the night a bit more in the 'okay' category rather than great. However, the Director of Sales and General Manager called me together to discuss the issues from the wedding night and I feel I was fairly compensated for my concerns. I would recommend the venue to friends and family. The food is excellent.
We rented a block of rooms for our wedding. If your guests fill up the 20 room block, then you get a free round trip shuttle to your wedding venue. However, even if you don't, it's...
still really reasonable. The rooms were great and they gave us a complimentary suite for our wedding night. Thank you!
My husband and I had a perfect reception. The staff at the Crown Plaza are wonderful and very helpful and willing to fix any problems that may arise (My chair covers were wrong the...
night before the wedding but were the correct by the day of). Kyra was great and so helpful and willing to lend an ear and a suggestion whenever it was needed.
Our only concern was that we wanted to see how the layout would be the day before the wedding and we weren't able to do so, even though we were told we could, because a party was scheduled last minute. Make sure you double check everything before the day of and the Crown will be very cooperative.
We had a wedding in nearby Elmhurst and used the Crowne Plaza for our guests based on a recommendation of our venue planners. The hotel was great and the rooms are nice. Hotel is a...
n excellent value. Having a quality restaurant in the hotel was a big plus as well. Sales was easy to work with, on point, and informative
My fiance and I had so many problems going into our wedding with other vendors. The staff at the Crowne Plaza was amazing. They bent over backwards to make our wedding the most mem...
orable day of our lives. The venue looked gorgeous and was very affordable. They were willing to work withint our budget on every aspect of the wedding. We were able to have an expensive looking wedding on a budget thanks to the CP. We loved the video wall and the modern space. The food and the cake were to die for, we will continue to eat at the Glen Prairie restaurant for many years to come. We had some issues with the rooms in the room block, but they were immediately fixed by the fast and efficient staff members. It was a truly wonderful place to have a September wedding. Kyra was truly a gem to work with and I would recommend the CP to anyone getting married!
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Crowne Plaza and we cannot say enough thank yous to the wonderful staff who made sure this day was perfect.
The food from Glen Prai...
rie was amazing and all of my guests said how delicious it was.
We danced the night away in the spacious ballroom and everything was kept well stocked and there was always someone nearby to ask a question.
Kyra and Migdalia made sure everything went smoothly and I know I had been worried about everything being perfect but in the end, they put myself at ease when everything was a dream come true.
I am thrilled I was able to start my new life here at the Crowne and I hope many, many more brides do as wel..
The lobby is open and inviting and cozy and the indoor swimming pool area almost makes you feel like you're on a tropical island. All of the kids in my wedding had a blast swimming the day before and day after my wedding.
Some of my guests didn't want to leave their furry friends behind and thanks to the Pet friendly policy at the Crowne they were able to bring along their dogs.
A truly wonderful day was made even more special by us choosing the Crowne Plaza.
We had a great experience with the Crowne Plaza, until the week of the wedding. Our original room flooded the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding and we had to be moved to anoth...
er room. There was nothing that could be done about the flooding, but it was the hotel's reaction to the flooding that was very disappointing.
We were told from the beginning that there would be compensation for the change. First we were told that we would be given appetizers, desserts and a late night snack totaling over $1000. When we said that we felt the offer did not match what we were looking for, especially considering we could have ordered these foods from the beginning if we had wanted them, we were asked what we were looking for. We were also told that the management "did not want to over- or underwhelm us", which led us to believe that they were interested in working with us to rectify the situation.
I was then called one hour before our ceremony to be told that because of discounts we had already been given (based on negotiations made in December of 2010 which had nothing to do with the change in venue) we would be given nothing further. At the reception itself we were less than enthused with the extra food that we were given; we were later told it was worth less than $600, and when we went to the hotel bar after the reception, there were other hotel guests there eating and drinking. Considering we paid for the bartender to be there and the food was the hotel's "gift" to us, we were surprised to see people in the bar who were completely unrelated to our wedding party.
I feel like the Crowne Plaza took advantage of the fact that my husband and I were calm and understanding about the situation. We were told from the beginning that the change in venue would be made up to us, and the hotel chose to do nothing. I would be careful about choosing a wedding reception venue that does not keep its word.
My fiance and I were truly impressed from the very first visit to the Crowne Plaza. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step through the doors it trans...
forms into an upscale 5 star hotel! The rooms are gorgeous and totally exceeded our expectations. The bathrooms are covered in luscious granite, the sitting area features a plush velvet couch, and the master suite will make you feel like royalty. We decided to have brunch at the Glen Prairie restaurant which is attached to the hotel and the food was absolutely delicious! Upon booking our hotel block with Crowne Plaza, we received our honeymoon suite for free!
On the night of the wedding the driver of the free shuttle put all of our gifts in the back and even helped us up to our room with the gifts. Our guests really appreciated the shuttle service to and from the reception. We then headed down to the Glen Praire for their late night bar service which stayed open until 1:30am and enjoyed some more cocktails!
I would highly recommend the Glen Prairie to any couple who is considering providing guest accomodations for their wedding night - you will not be disappointed!
They forgot to pass out my welcome bags to guests as they checked in, the shuttle was 30 min late and had no air conditioning on an 85 degree night, they called last call at 11:30p...
m in the bar we had rented out until 1:30am. My mother spent 20 min with the woman checkin people in looking for my reservation they put under an incorrect name consequently making her late to the reception. The lady at the counter also told my mom to "give them a break" because they had 17 other reservation blocks to deal with. This hotel and their staff basically made every mistake possible while providing horrible service.
It was my contention from the first time I set foot in the lobby that this hotel was special...and incredibly deceiving from the outside. The outside of CP Glen Ellyn is fairly no...
n-descript, but the lobby, the rooms, and the special event facilities are perfect. Rooms were great. Food was great. Service was great. We were very pleased with our whole reception. The only downside was that we couldn't fully trust the new catering manager to do her job when we weren't hounding her. Part of the reason we signed the contract over a year in advance was Annalise. She was fantastic. But she's gone now. Would choose Crowne Plaza Glen Ellyn again in a heartbeat.
This hotel provided for us a lovely reception site and excellent service. Kyra and Annalise are great to work with. Whenever we had a question or needed an issue resolved, they alw...
ays got back to us quickly with a solution. On the down side, we didn't feel like we got a great deal on the price for our reception, and most of the extras we wanted were quite a bit extra in price. But the reception food was good and got a lot of compliments on it, and it's great having hotel rooms right upstairs from the reception. One thing we didn't like was that although they tell you that your wedding cake is included in the catering contract, that means that you have to use a particular vendor of theirs. Most of the cake flavors are a big upcharge, and we paid an additional $80 for the cake and $100 for the flowers used to decorate the cake, even though the cake was "included." We did not like working their cake vendor, but he did provide us with delicious and beautiful cake, so it worked out. We were happy with the reception hall and the service, and we would choose them again.
