If I were to put a label on it I’d call it photojournalism fused with unique artistic design.

We navigated planning our wedding in the 2020 Pandemic and Steve remained committed to our wedding date, professional in communication, and flexible with adapting to Covid policies and photographing our family and friends while respecting their preferences for keeping masks on. Hiring Steve was the best decision for us! His experience helped guide us in preparation for and throughout our wedding day comfortably. His talent in being the sole photographer and capturing mostly all of the moments throughout our special day is invaluable and so were the copious photos we received on our digital drive. I personally appreciated his patience and communication throughout a challenging process of planning a pandemic wedding.
Since my guest count was limited due to the pandemic and our guest congregation areas were few, one photographer was perfect for our needs. I would recommend hiring Steve's partner photographer for a second shooter with 100+ guests and multiple areas to congregate.
One caveat to know is that photo processing/ editing takes a while. It is communicated up front that turn around is not fast and it took us 6 months to receive photos. Steve is a one-man show from start to finish and that is how he maintains a quality product! He was always timely and did a fabulous job!

y venue. Boy, am I glad I used this approach, as it is how we found Steve. His online portfolio looked great, so we met him at a coffee shop convenient for both of us. His deameanor is what tipped it over the edge for us. He came off as laid-back, open-minded, and a nature lover which was important to us knowing the terrain of our venue. Shortly before the wedding, we met up once more to discuss the timeline I proposed, which took a huge load of stress off. On the day of the wedding, he was truly a calming presence. We wanted the vast majority of our portraits to be just us (our first look and in various fields, barns, etc. at our venue), so our timeline included nearly 3 hours for just us. This paid off extremely well - it gave us plenty of time to relax into picture-taking (something my husband nor I are very fond of). Steve doesn't make you do wacky poses or anything you're not comfortable with. We just strolled through the farm/park, stopping at points of interest along the way, and smiled! He delivered our pictures at an unheard of speed, and they are absolutely gorgeous. Our portraits are naturally my favorite, but I'm also in love with both of our getting ready pics, creative pics of our stationery/rings/accessories/etc., ceremony pics (he really captured all of the emotions, from the unieasiness we both felt the first minute or two, to us easing into the ceremony, to pure joy and happiness by the end!), our cake cutting pics, and all candids on the dance floor. I was so happy to see all the pics of me smiling and laughing with family and friends, because beyond the portraits we took with our immediate families right before the ceremony, Steve was a ghost. I truly didn't realize he was capturing everything! It was important to us that we came away with beautiful pictures without feeling like complete sellouts to the wedding industry, and Steve gave us just that. And I know he also offers options for a second shooter, videographer, etc. if those things are important and/or necessary for you and your wedding. Thanks so much again, Steve. We loved working with you and you genuinely contributed to making our day so special and memorable :)

On the day of our wedding, a sunny early morning in June of 2016 they were there and ready to go. Steve and his grew were very personable, while keeping things light and fun, and knew exactly what they were doing.
Everyone keeps telling us how incredible the pictures and videos are and we couldn’t agree more. They captured every critical moment and got moments we couldn’t see ourselves. When we were given the link to our album and videos almost every picture and the video made us feel like we were right back in that very moment. Steve not only captured every single detail of the wedding, including the sign board, ceremony decor, reception table setting, wedding cake, and the skylight in the reception room, but he also filmed candid moments that I shared with my bridal party and my mom. I did not even notice that I was being filmed.
Steve also did a great job editing and seamlessly inserting various songs to the film. Thanks to Steven's great work, my husband and I were able to relive our wedding day.

I could some up him in one word it would be UNDERSTANDING! He understands his profession and understands couples! He will make you and your significant other feel comfortable and in full control of the entire photography process from the signing to the proofs. During our shoot we had to make a change of clothes and it took time away from the allotted 2hrs but he was willing to stay a little longer to make sure we get all the shots we wanted and also the shots he felt would best fit us and express is as a couple. He had the photos done in a timely manner and was flexible when we asked him for a few touch-ups. I could go on but ill save the rest for after the wedding! If you don't even at least have a sit down with Steve/Crystal Lake Pictures to discuss options your are missing out!

In the package I requested, I had 2 videographers for the duration of the day and recieved a highlight summary video set to music and then the entire day broken out into chapters. perience! My fiancé and I rarely take photos of ourselves, so I was a little nervous that we would look stiff or uncomfortable in our photos. Quite the opposite, though! Steve and his assistant did a great job of putting us at ease and making the whole thing a very fun experience! As a result, I think our photos came out fantastic! We have a really good mixture of more serious and sentimental (mantle-worthy) photos, along with fun, lighthearted ones that we’ll smile at for years to come. In addition to the photos themselves, we ordered a photo album from Crystal Lake Pictures, and I think they did really nice job of laying out the photos in a unique and beautiful way. After the photo shoot experience, we are really looking forward to having Crystal Lake Pictures record our wedding day, too!
