Scam #1: Not Really Telling You the Cost of the Wedding Dress: I've known of the shop since it was located on Broadway but I saw the shop in the list on The Knot. There were no reviews. Before booking an appointment at the bridal shop I came in to see if the shop sold dresses in my price range as they don't have a website. I really wanted to support a Black-Owned Business. I visited the shop four times and selected a wedding dress. On the second occasion, I came in with my mom. We talked about the budget, the dress style, and the designers. We were told to browse, and Crystal selected dresses as well. I tried on six dresses. We narrowed them down to two. We talked price again, and she shared a story about a bride who went up the street to Elegant and was overcharged for her dress, so I was certain she understood my concern to stay within budget. On the next appointment, I actually left because there were too many people in the shop and it was just a mess. After checking other stores that sold Morilee dresses I had not seen any other shops carrying the two dresses I had narrowed down to. So I rescheduled my appointment. On the day that I came ready to select my dress, I tried on the two dresses again. I said yes to my dress, and we headed to the counter. I was quoted a price that exceeded my budget by more than $1,200 after she spoke with her dress vendor. I spoke with Crystal about my concern as I was clear about my budget. Crystal knew my budget and should have never put me in a gown that is out of my budget. The dresses are not marked, so I depended on her to ensure the dresses selected were within my budget. She's very talkative but at that moment she was quiet. As you know, once you fall in love with a dress, it is what it is. You know, to be careful of a slimy car salesman but I had no clue this could be the experience in a bridal shop. If she cannot guarantee the price of a dress she should make you aware in the beginning.  I can not recommend this shop as a result.
