Negative 1...🤢 First the lady who works on Sundays for cake tasting...needs to improve her customer service. She didn't mention that when you add food coloring to icing....it will takes HORRIBLE. They delivered a burnt cake and the icing made everyones mouth turn colors waste of money. They had the nerve to say they never had any bad complaints and don't give refunds...LIAR. ORDER A DISPLAY CAKE IT MIGHT TASTE BETTER✌🏼

Our wedding cupcakes were nearly the star of the show!! From the free tasting to seeing the final cupcake tower, the entire process with Custom Cake Design was easy and super tasty. This was the second bakery we tasted (the first being a dry and too sweet disappointment) and we knew immediately this was the right place. The cake itself was incredibly moist and the frosting flavorful but not cloyingly sweet. We were able to do 100 cupcakes in five different flavors (peanut butter cup, salted caramel, mint chocolate chip, wild strawberry, and red velvet) as well as a small cutting cake, and they were super flexible with us changing up small details and flavor combinations. The final product was even more beautiful and yummy than we could have imagined and delivery and setup was seamless. Our guests raved about all the flavors and we were lucky to have a couple extra to enjoy post wedding. The cutting cake was divine and we look forward to having more in a year!! Absolutely delicious cake--everybody (including our caterers) were raving about it! Everybody was extremely easy to work with as well. We had our florist drop off flowers to drape around our cake, and it turned out gorgeous.

From the moment we walked into the shop for a tasting, we were impressed! We tasted every type of cake imaginable (it seemed) and all their cakes on display helped us choose the type of cake and design we wanted. They were very accommodating if we wanted to taste multiple flavors multiple times. My husband ended up dropping off flowers and the topper for the cake (with artistic liberty for the flowers) for them to put on and they did a fantastic job! Everyone raved about the cake flavors and couldn't stop taking photos and telling us how beautiful it was. All 3 tiers were moist and delicious! The only negative for us was we weren't super impressed with any of their icing choices and definitely weren't about to pay extra for icing we didn't love, so we went with the basic buttercream and we had mixed reviews about that at the wedding. It tasted very greasy to us and we ended up scraping it off our pieces, which was minor in the grand scheme of things!

Delicious cake!! We received so many compliments about the cake! It tasted so good and the service was great. Raquel and her team made everything so easy from the tasting to Sunday delivery. They also send the top layer of cake home with instructions about how to freeze and save it to enjoy on our anniversary. We will definitely use them again for other occasions!

I had an excellent experience with the team. Emails were returned promptly along with proof of payments. While the location is a little hidden, this buisness is a real gem! They becautifully mirrored a design I had seen online, they even suggested getting the same flavour sheet cake instead of extra layers which was cost cutting gold! My in-laws, hubby-to-be and I, spent a happy hour or so looking at cake designs and tasting about 13 different flavours! We were never rushed and enjoyed peacefully chomping away as happy customers came in and out of the store and picked up the most beautiful cakes. I was able to leave a swatch of the purple I wanted the sugar flowers for my cake to be and they were done beautifully. It was a tough decision but we ended up going for chocoloate raspberry with chocolate mousse filling which was delicious!

Cake was beautiful and delicious. We received many compliments from our guests. They also called a few days before to review all the details and be sure our cake was well done. Also no problems with delivery to the reception venue. Would highly recommend!

We ordered our wedding cake from Custom Cake Design and it was absolutely beautiful and tasty. They matched the design I requested perfectly and for the amount of cake we needed we were able to choose three different flavors! For our cake tasting, we got to try over 10 different flavors of cake, each different and delicious - even flavors I didn't expect to like were delectable. We ended up going with a 3-tier cake along with a sheet cake for about 170 people. We chose the marbled chocolate and vanilla, raspberry chocolate and vanilla cakes. All of our guests raved about the cake. It was so fresh, moist and absolutely delicious. They were definitely reasonably priced for the quality and amount of cake we ordered and I would definitely recommend them for anyone's cake needs in the DMV.

Custom Cake Design did an amazing job on our wedding cake! It was not only stunning (and looked just like the picture I gave), it was so delicious!!! We had a 4 layer cake (Raspberry cake with Raspberry mousse and Almond cake with Raspberry fruit)! So so good! I also have a lot of family members who are gluten free and I was able to order gluten free cupcakes! Thank you Custom Cake Design!!

Raquel and Custom Cake Design were recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad they were! Custom Cake Design did my bridal shower cake which was AMAZING (it was a replica of our "save the date" card) AND our wedding cake AND groom's cake. The wedding cake was the most delicious almond dessert you could ever imagine and the groom's cake was a replica of my groom's favorite Colombian snack cake (like a Twinkie). Raquel is so immensely talented! We received so many rave reviews from our guests. Our cakes turned out exactly how we wanted and were beautiful! Our consultation before the wedding was also easy to schedule and the tasting of the cakes was helpful! The cake they made for us to take home was also so beautiful and best part is we don't have to freeze it and eat it in a year because we can get a new one made just like it for free! I am so happy we used Custom Cake Design and would highly recommend them!

We went to two other cake bakers and Custom Cake Designs provided the most cost affordable estimate. Their cake tasting was helpful and we liked the butter rum the best, and it was the most moist. We wanted the design of the cake to be inspired by our invitations, and the cake turned out pretty, but nothing that "wowed" us. I would suggest having a clear vision of what you want the cake to look like. But they were very professional and there were no issues working with them during the whole process, and the price was right! I would use Custom Cake Designs again.

This place was one of the highlights of my wedding. I was planning my wedding from out of town and nervous that the cake wouldn't be exactly what I wanted simply because it would get "lost in translation" from the distance. I'm also exceptionally picky yet not exactly a cake expert so I can tell you what I don't like but maybe not exactly what I do. The owner was able to ask me some very pointed questions, send me pictures to say "yes" or "no" for specific elements. She ended up creating exactly what I wanted. Her experience in the industry is evident. More than that, she gave me an amazing price. It was the ONE thing in my wedding that came in under budget. The taste was great (Almond was exactly what I had in mind). The only frustration in the whole process was when I attended the open house. Expect that you will have to wait a while for a consultation and that the queue isn't precisely managed. I was more sensitive to that because I had flown from out of town for it. However, when I spoke up everyone quickly accommodated me. The owner was a pleasure to work with. I even saw her slip out after delivering my cake and she happily smiled and waved with her delivery guy (who I assume is her husband?). I could not have had a better experience!

Thank you Custom cake and specially Raquel, for the great service. They were very pleasant to work with, they had great flavors of cake and I would recommend to add fruit cream to your cakes, it is just delicious. The guests at the wedding love the cake. You really want to go and try the different flavors, and if you are interested in the creams, mention it at the moment of setting the appointment so they can prepare them for you.

OK! Picking a wedding cake is not easy; all the flavors and choices is so overwhelming. However I stumble acrossed my last stop with the attitude this is it cause I refuse to taste any more cake. Well God bless the search engine that stopped on Custom Cake Design. When I walked in I met the owner (lady who was in charged-feel terrible that I dont remember her name) she showed me pictures and display cakes, then provided me with samples. With only 30-45 days before the wedding -I wanted to be as simple as possible. So I choose quickly without trying to overthink it. Top tier- white raspberry, middle tier- carmel, bottom tier -white raspberry with raspberry filling. I had never tried these flavors before but it won over my orinigal thoughts of (lemon cake, carrort cake, or vanilla). The white raspberry-lets just say you have to try it to understand why its their signature cake. And the carmel was basically a vanilla cake but a little sweeter. When she came to deliver the cake on the day of the wedding she arrive on time- I mean early which is always a plus when you know things are in order before they start. And the cake looked absolutely beautiful (I was told it smelled good too). When it came to taste everyone raved about this cake 2 weeks after it was gone. Best wedding cake I've ever had- and when they say people will remember the cake its the truth. Can't wait until our anniversary to have another slice. Only thing I would suggest is that maybe they offer an anniversary cake instead of couples having to freeze it- I know its tradition but I'm a little unsure about eating year old cake. Roughly $530 but you have to pay for delivery - still a really good price.

We were very happy with our wedding cake. We got a lot of compliments. The flavor was delicious and not dry at all. The staff was so helpful, and really helped us to create our dream cake. The only thing I was a little upset about was how they decorated the cake with my flowers. I wanted roses on the top and going down the side. They did the top, but used baby’s breathe down the sides. Not what I was hoping for but that’s okay. I really recommend them and thank them for the delicious cake.

We ordered the almond and chocolate raspberry cupcakes with various topics, and I would definitely recommend any of their chocolate flavors! it was the hit of the wedding. The almond was delicious too!

We absolutely loved our cake from Custom Cake Design. They did exactly what we asked and it came out perfectly. The staff at the cake tasting were very nice and helpful. They worked with me to get exactly what we wanted. When I saw our cake on our wedding day it looked better than I could have ever imagined! We were very impressed with their work and the flavors were great! We had requested quotes from several other cake companies and Custom Cake Design had the best price by far.

Their white raspberry def is the best flavor! Their open house as well as appointments are very convenient. They have tons of cake ideas to choose from!

I loved their cakes and the cake tasting they offer are very convenient to a full week's work schedule. The models of cakes they display give you a real feel for what you will be ordering than just a picture can offer you. They are very easy to work with. My cake was included in our reception package so it included many different options and if we wanted any upgrades it would be an additional cost but we were more than happy with the options we had to choose from! The cake was delicious and very moist w/ LOTS great icing so if you don't like icing you can take some off but if you like icing you will be in heaven!! We chose the butter yellow cake w/ raspberry filling which was wonderful (which was an additional cost but worth it)! I also loved the almond and rum flavored cake!!

Very affordable and beautiful cake design!! I picked the most basic design in square and it was lovely. All of the guests LOVED the cake and continued commenting on how moist the cake was and how delicious the "signature" flavor was. I would definitely recommend!

Custom Cake design was a wonderful choice for our cake. The cake is very delicious and moist, our favorite flavor was almond flavored cake. We chose a very simple cake with just white butter cream icing and a very traditional design. The only thing I will say is that I thought the prices for the "add-ons" on the cake were a bit pricy, it you wanted any color on your cake it was an addition $1 per slice, that can add up when you have a 150 person cake. I thought I might like some color at the time, but didn't because of our budget. I am so happy I chose an all white classic cake! So if you like simple and delicious this is a good pick, they of course make fancy cakes with lots of extras but the price goes up very quickly! The website is full of beautiful pictures of all the different styles of cakes! We loved our cake and got to take home the whole cake topper and eat it after our honeymoon it was still delicious!

Our cake was included with our package at the Crowne Plaza so we were a little limited on designs. But, a simple design still looked beautiful! We chose the white strawberry flavored cake and had strawberry filling. It was delicious and moist and was great for summer!

We loved our cake. It was designed just how I pictured (along with a good florist for the topper) and it tasted AMAZING. We got a yellow/chocolate marble, 3-tier, buttercream cake. They worked with our venue and florist to coordinate timing, etc.

We went to at least half a dozen places to taste cake. We were really disappointed. Most were dry and previously frozen or prepared too long before the open house. Then we went to Custom Cake Design. We tasted everything. We knew right then and there we wanted to book them. It was so moist and delicious. We just wanted a butter cream cake with butter cream icing, but we opted for the champagne flavored cake it was just a little different. We already know we are going to get one next year on our anniversary. The ladies who own the shop were like old friends. A real personal type of customer service. It looked beautiful on the big day. Like out of a magazine, just perfect. Give them a try- just go to an open house.
