Custom DJs

We hired Rich eight months before our wedding after receiving his name as a recommendation from our venue. We had an in person interview with Rich and he went through the process of telling us how everything would run and be setup. He was a nice guy, we liked what he had to say so we offered him the job to which he said he was available and accepted. All is well. Fast forward to the month of our wedding. My wife contacted Rich (whom we had not heard from) about sending payment and submitting our song list. Rich then told her that he wanted to meet so we could go through some final things a few days before the wedding. Five days before our wedding (FIVE DAYS!) we received a text (TEXT!) from Rich saying 'Katie will be your DJ'. I immediately called and told him that this was unacceptable. We had spoken with multiple DJs and chose HIM to do our wedding. Rich then got chesty with me saying, 'Read your contract. I can send any DJ from my company.' Our check was already cashed and there was a no refund policy so, despite being livid with the situation, we had to let a complete stranger with whom we had never spoken with DJ our wedding. The DJ turned out to be his daughter, Katie. Five days until wedding... We met with Katie and she was apologetic for her father saying that this had been sprung on her last minute as well. This leads me to believe Rich forgot about booking with us or took more money for another event. After speaking with Katie about the wedding, we feel slightly better about the situation. Day of the wedding. Katie showed up 1.5 hours late, couldn't figure out the installation of the equipment, and did not set up in time. We contracted the DJ to play during cocktail hour but instead we listened to the radio. We also had to lend our phones in order to hear a number of our 'must play' list. Unprofessional and devious. Avoid.

Rich was amazing to work with. He kept everything running on time and kept the dance floor full. We not only give him the highest referral but will be using him again should we ever need a dj.

Rich did a good job. We were just a little disappointed- all his music was on discs and he could not take request the night of. We had contacted him ahead of time with some request- all of which he played. THere were some songs where everyone stopped dancing and rather than switch songs, he kept them going.

We used Custom DJs for our recent wedding. Rich has everyone on the dance floor the entire night. He is a true professional that makes the night so much fun. Easy to work with too!! Highly recommended. He has a great website too!
