Cynthia was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Our wedding would not have been the same without her, I truly did not worry about one single thing on the wedding day and ne...
ither did any of our bridal party or family, Cynthia handled everything. She was very organized and flexible in all of the planning meetings. We felt Cynthia went above and beyond for us in so many ways, she was able to help us with decor and changing various items at the last minute. The day of Cynthia and her assistant were very professional and I was able to enjoy the day with no worries. I would absolutely recommend booking Cynthia.
Cynthia was the best decision we made throughout the whole wedding process. Her attention to detail, her composure during wedding “crisis” and her ability to see the full picture w...
as absolutely a talent a new bride needed during this planning time. She is the full package in every way and her warm personality was icing on the cake.
I was extremely excited to work with Cynthia, the thought of having someone take care of “all details” day of seemed like a dream come true. After looking at her “timeline” I notic...
ed that her name was not listed on the names of those that would be there the day of, so I asked her on Friday (the day before the wedding). AFTER asking I was informed that Cynthia would not be coming to the wedding. She informed the vendors, but saw no need to inform me (interesting, right?). After I addressed it, I asked “what am I paying you for?” and her response was “you are costing me money”... funny! I was costing her money Bc she failed to do her job and needed more assistants? Her response was then, “you will be TOTALLY fine”. This isn’t even the beginning of the problems that happened the day before and the day of. On Friday at the rehearsal she introduced me to 2 gals that had no idea what they were doing and in fact I had never met them and they had not been to ANY of our “planning meetings”. Needless to say, I was mad but the show must go on, right?
Now let’s get to the day of, after arriving at church the “new assistant” told me to take a seat Bc we had “plenty of time” before the ceremony. I had to inform her of the start time, she had thought the start time was 30 minutes later...come again!!? So the very thing I paid someone to do was to handle all the details so I didn’t have to worry, but there I was worrying about the details. Oh and while waiting for the ceremony, my husband to be peeked his head into the room that I was in...What?!? The ladies kept on moving us around from room to room since they didn’t know the venue or what they were doing. Other problems were, room set up, no where to be found, never checked on us, etc. Needless to say, Cynthia over promised and didn’t show up. Full disclosure, she showed up for 30 minutes of the entire day ONLY after my mom spoke with her. At the beginning she did tell me she had 2 weddings that day, but never told me she wasn't gonna be at mine. I just wanted this to be out there so that no one has to feel the way that I did on the happiest day of my life. I felt she had no regard for my day and that I am disappointed. And are you wondering about the bill? She asked me to pay her full price.
Thank you Cynthia for making sure our wedding day turned out perfect!!! You were wonderful to work with and I highly recommend every bride to work with you in the future. I’m so gl...
ad we got the opportunity to work together. I can’t say enough good things!!!
First off I would like to say, I had a lovely first meeting with Cynthia, and I was very excited that I had hired her for my event. However, after the experience I had with her dur...
ing my event last Saturday, I am left feeling that she over-promised and under-delivered.
I paid a great deal of money to have the barn at my venue lit. I noticed right away that half of the market lighting was not working. I asked Cynthia to address this, and contact the vendor. She assured me she would take care of it, but she never did. When I saw the vendor at the end of the night I questioned him, he told me that she never flipped the switch, and also never called him to find out why they weren't working. When I brought this to her attention, Cynthia took no responsibility, and offered no apology. Instead, she gave a list of reasons as to why she was not responsible.
Part of her services were to include vendor contacts the week before the wedding. Which is why I was surprised that one, I was getting contacted from multiple vendors regarding the timeline and how they had not received it or other important details for the day of. Two, I provided a full list of vendors for contact, and it wasn’t until I mentioned that the Photo Booth was missing from the timeline that she told me she hadn’t actually communicated with the vendor. I feel like I was doing more communicating and orchestrating, when I had hired her for this service.
Day of the wedding, I felt that I only saw her a handful of times. In fact, there was several times I was looking for her and could not find her or her assistant. I don't remember her ever checking in on me, unless it was I that had found her. All events during the ceremony, (cake cutting, speeches, garter toss, etc) I had to ask the DJ about what time we were doing those things, and I was running around making sure my husband and I were both ready for those events. Again, maintaining the timeline is what I hired her to do.
I am also displeased with how she treated some of my vendors and guests, in particular, my father. When he came to drop off the decor at the venue, already dressed in his tux, she started "bossing" him and my brothers around with off loading and where to put things. Common sense should tell someone that the last thing I wanted my father to be doing the day of the wedding, was decorating my wedding in his tux. I will also say, that my father is one of the most easy going and polite human beings I know, and for him to feel offended by someone's tone or actions says a lot.
It is clear that she takes great pride in her relationship with my venue, and her ability to leave the venue as clean as she found it. However, we were informed by the venue that we would not be getting our deposit back, since it was left in less than satisfactory condition. At the end of the day, the fact that we will not be receiving our deposit back is a reflection of how well Cynthia coordinated clean up and left the condition of the venue. If there was something that needed to be taken care of that she felt was out of the scope of her responsibility, it would have been appreciated that she let me know so I could take care of those things.
In all, lesson was learned and I hope that this helps at least one other bride know exactly what to expect from any coordinator.
This review comes from a non-traditional and unconventional bride. Cynthia was the most affordable option of the three exclusive Camarillo Ranch vendors. The advantage of having an...
exclusive vendor: they know the venue- electrical outlets, set/up, and recommendations for other vendors. She came to each meeting early and well-prepared. Cynthia is great with aesthetics: set-up and break-down of flowers, centerpieces, etc. She has her own extensive collection of signs and objects for rent and is generous in lending them. She is professional in communication with vendors prior to and during the event, introducing herself by phone before the event.
Our visions of the wedding did not match. “Details” (ex/ toasting glasses, cutting knife, cake plate, personalized forks) don’t matter to me. At her insistence, she let us use her collection. It was a nice gesture. We didn’t use the toasting glasses and I would have preferred to eat the cake with my hands and plastic plate. Wedding style: we preferred the idea of a more free-flowing event, while she wanted to keep a tight schedule, seeking us out amidst our photo shoot since we were 15 minutes early to move the schedule up for the dinner. Cynthia is great with the before and after part of the event. She didn’t seem able to handle under-pressure problems during the event that arose. Prior to the grand entrance, Cynthia came out to tell us, with a look that, to me, conveyed consternation, “We have a big situation in there!” and I said, “we can fix it.” After which, she treated me in such a way that I felt she blamed me for the seating debacle (I had rented 17 tables, 2 of which hadn’t been set up- the number of tables had been brought to her attention before the event by my mother-in-law). As my husband and I exchanged looks, she continued “We need to get you in there now so we can fix this.” There was a table seating situation where a party of 9 came in late and refused to sit anywhere, despite ample seating, except for the table reserved for my parents. She handled it when it caught her attention, after my parent’s grand entrance, and asked them to move. This was before our grand entrance, overshadowed by this debacle. Based on feedback from guests, it would have been preferable to have fixed the seating issue before our grand entrance. Instead I sat there feeling so bad for inconveniencing my guests that I wanted to grab the DJ’s microphone and formally apologize. I sat and watched as my parents, who are elderly and disabled, stood looking remiss because they didn’t want to sit if “there weren’t enough seats for everyone.”
Wedding style conflict of interest: I wanted to cut the top of the $600 cake we bought (we weren’t saving the top) but she demanded we cut the bottom.
She returned after the event to breakdown everything. She was great with organizing the items, working with the caterers to clear everything out, and sending the items to my mother’s house. I provided this feedback to her directly and she apologized.
Overall, the experience taught me a few things. Try to figure out if your visions conflict before you sign a contract. Is your potential wedding planner talking you out of things you want for your wedding, as mine did? I discovered that the vision I had for the wedding and hers did not match. She is one that, to me, prefers traditional and structured and my vision of laid back, casual, backyard bbq was out of her comfort zone.
