My mom was concerned about the amount of pressure I was putting on myself to try and put this wedding together. I mean I had the planning books, the photo inspirations, the diagrams, the timelines, the decorations, the vendors....everything pla...nned to a ‘T’. I felt like I was still missing something, and it was someone to help execute this “so-called” master plan. Enter: Donesha, the maestro to conduct my symphony. From our first interaction, I knew she was a perfect match because she heard us out and was right on board with bringing our vision to life. Donesha took what we started with and made it complete, just two months before the wedding. By our final wedding planning meeting, we felt so confident and reassured that our wedding was going to be a smooth ride.
Cue: “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette.
We got to the Urry’s late Wednesday night with no idea what to do, and the weather report just kept getting worse and worse. We never made a backup plan for weather. We needed to move the wedding location and there were only 2 days until the wedding. There was no way for us to express our sadness or disappointment to our families. Brain fog was real; we exhausted so much into having the wedding in one particular place that we couldn’t fathom planning it in another, let alone possibly paying for the new space. Enter: Linda and Donesha. Linda got with her church, which was about 10 minutes away from her home, and set up a walk-through with one of the members. With each space we explored of this huge church, I just kept thinking, “How can we still do this? “What do we do to make it look like our wedding that we spent the better part of a year planning?”. Either the space was too large and would swallow our 50-55 guest count or it was too small and dark. Donesha came in like a big sister and held us together when we felt as though we were hitting a low point.
Well, we found the perfect space in the front entry area of the church. The leadership were so gracious in allowing us to use this space and hallway, and Donesha was lighting up with ideas flowing through her mind for transforming the space. It didn’t take long at all to find our new venue, but it still hadn’t settled in yet that things were going to go off like we dreamt. Meanwhile, Donesha was getting all the vendors up to speed and working her magic on bringing this wedding together.
We got lined up in the hallway to process. My dad and I were placed behind the photo booth while the wedding party started us off and when we came from behind the photo booth, I was STUNNED. The hallway was so beautiful! It was more than I imagined. At one end was the photo booth and at the other was the curtain entrance I dreamed of having. In between were cocktail tables and banquet tables decorated with gorgeous foods and flowers. The bar was set up perfectly displaying the wine and bar menu. I don’t even have all the photos of the space yet, but I can’t wait to show them. It didn’t stop there. The tables were decorated just how I wanted. Everything came together so beautifully and all we had to do was let go.
Donesha and her team were rockstars. God worked a miracle through them, and I am so grateful for all they accomplished for us in such a short amount of time. We truly had a dream team, I mean A-list vendors across the board. Donesha had everything and everyone in place and ran the event perfectly. I can’t say enough about how grateful we are that she brought joy back into our wedding day.
