Dan Cox Photography is absolutely amazing! Dan seriously has the eye for amazing photos. I knew from the start I enjoyed his photography and when it came to get our engagement and wedding photo back, Dan went above my expectations. Dan is overall a great human being and we’ve enjoyed getting to know him. He was also a hit with our bridal party! If you choose Dan as your photographer, follow his guidance, he knows what he’s doing. If he says go in those bushes or quickly get out of the car, don’t hesitate and just do. You’ll definitely thank him later! Thank you, Dan!

100 percent you will not be disappointed in Dan. He made us feel confident, gorgeous, and excited to take our wedding photos. His communication before the wedding and after with a prompt return of our entire album was great to see. We had onsite photos along with a secondary site the morning of to take group photos in Detroit (15+ people). He made our vision come to life and literally almost all the photos are photos you would hang on your wall. His cool gifs he made of us onsite was such a cool addition to just traditional photos. 10/10.

My wife and I used Dan for both our engagement session, and for our wedding. When looking over his portfolio, we loved his darker and moodier style, giving off a vintage and timeless look which is exactly what we wanted in our photos. I am happy to say that our photos turned out AMAZING. They were everything we hoped for and more. But beyond being impressed by his photography skills, we were also impressed with Dan as a person. He immediately made us feel comfortable and relaxed. There was nothing awkward about our interactions. He made us laugh and smile, which was perfect. When shooting at our venue, he gave clear direction and felt comfortable in the environment which helped us relax and enjoy our day. Many of our guests and bridal party complimented Dan on his professionalism and spoke about how personable he was. They also complemented him on his ability to keep everything and everyone organized to capture the perfect moment. We are beyond happy we went with Dan to be our photographer and highly recommend him!

Dan is the absolute best! His vibe, his energy, his creativity!!! My entire bridal party loved him and we all had so much fun taking pictures. He got all the detail shots and SO much more I wanted without me even having to ask. He is so professional and has an unbeatable style. I truly think his work is one of a kind. I got like a thousand pictures back many which included my guests during cocktail hour and on the dance floor - it made me so happy to see those! I could not recommend him enough. Best decision I made by far!

Hire Dan! Our wedding pictures turned out incredible. I chose him in the first place because of his unique, moody, artistic, style. Our photos were definitely that and more. We got so many ‘gram worthy pics, but he also was able to capture the friends and family for our memories. The pictures are really all you have after that one day is over and I’m overjoyed with how ours turned out. Can’t wait to get a million prints, photo book, etc and look back on them for years. Communication and punctuality were great. He’s very good at giving direction and posing us. Overall, very fun to work with too!

We chose Dan because we found his style to be unique and memorable and we are so happy with our choice. Dan is very easy to work with, as a couple who had no experience with photo shoots, and made both our engagement shoot and wedding day go very smoothly. He was on time, works quickly, and has an incredible eye for great photos and good lighting and backgrounds. We cannot recommend him enough!

Dan was the photographer for our September 2023 and we could not be happier with our decision. Dan truly went above and beyond the expectations of a wedding photographer. Prior to the wedding, I was nervous about getting all of the shots we wanted due to a large wedding party and big families with a time constraint but Dan was effective at placing/directing and efficient -- we got all the shots we wanted and MORE! Not to mention, our friends and family LOVED him! Dan ran through our timeline and discussed possible adjustments and reassured me through that process. Our delivery timeline was exactly what he said it would be and the pictures were GORGEOUS! I was absolutely FLOORED (in the best way!). There was a great variety of formal, fun, emotional, details and candid shots in our collection. To top all of this off, Dan's personality is amazing and we laughed and joked and had a wonderful time throughout the day. I highly recommend Dan without reservation, for all of your photography needs.

Pros: We loved our photos from Dan, they came out beautiful and he captured everything we wanted plus more. He was able to keep everything on track and got all of the family portraits and shots we requested. Cons: From the start Dan wasn't great at answering emails and communicating with us. He did admit this isn't his strength during a phone call right before the wedding. It also took three months to get our photos back. The contract states 4-12 weeks for photo delivery, but it was a bummer that it did take 12+ weeks to receive our photos. We actually didn’t receive our photos until 5 days after the 12 week mark which technically didn’t fulfill the timeline stated in the contract. We understand we got married during a very busy time of year, but Dan wasn't even able to give us a couple of sneak peaks to hold us over. It was a long time to wait and we only received updates on our photos via Dan's instagram story. Overall, we were pleased with the outcome of the photos. However, we wish we would have known that 4-12 weeks photo delivery really meant that we would get them in more than 12 weeks and that we wouldn't receive a lot of communication before and after the wedding.

We booked Dan for both our engagement and wedding photography. I was so nervous about getting pictures taken as I’ve never had professional photos done. As soon as we meet him for our engagement session he put us at ease with his professionalism and kind personality. He was so patient and gave great direction when posing us. We were so excited to work with him again on our wedding day and he did not disappoint. He made everyone feel comfortable and at ease and made all of our pictures feel fun and unique. I highly recommend Dan to anyone looking for a great photographer who not only is professional but has a unique style and will always make you feel and look amazing.

Dan is truly the most incredible wedding photographer - do not hesitate to book him! We had Dan for both our engagement photos and wedding day, and the entire time he made us feel super comfortable while setting up the most perfect shots. We are obsessed with all the photos that came out of working with Dan. His editing style is impeccable and unique, and every photo is just so beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about Dan! We booked Dan for our engagement shoot (sadly he was already booked for our wedding date). I was so nervous going into this. I've never really had professional photos done and thought it would be awkward and uncomfortable. Within 5 minutes of working with Dan those feelings disappeared! He made me feel comfortable and was so kind! He was great at giving directions and really made it so fun! I didn't want it to end! He also asked if there were any specific shots we wanted during the process - which was nice - but I just let him do his thing because he is a 10/10 professional! I would 100% recommend Dan to everyone! Also don't be dumb like me and make sure he's available for your wedding date first!! I'm just so glad we were able to book him for our engagement shoot - I know I will cherish those photos forever!!

My husband and I are the most awkward, unphotogenic people and Dan made us feel like god damn models. His encouragement and pure joy of his profession made our wedding day experience the very best. I truly cannot say enough about how beyond happy we are with our decision to book Dan. I promise you will not regret it.

Book him!!! Seriously. The pictures turned out perfect and working with Dan was smooth and painless. We booked for both engagement and wedding photos. During the engagement session he really helped us relax and get us into position for the various shots. All of them turned out great and it felt like we were just talking to a good friend throughout the session. For the wedding photos because of how things worked out (our fault) he arrived to the venue at the same time as us since we were coming by boat and he was with us (we did the getting ready photos and everything across the lake). He quickly was able to adapt to the venue and began capturing moments with the ceremony starting right then. The photos turned out phenomenal. He captured different angles of us, some photos of our guests, and he framed the first kiss photo perfectly. Given we arrived by boat, we had someone move the boat after we disembarked. This was a public lake though, with other boats on the lake including one docked right behind us. I don't know how much of it was just Dan framing the shot perfectly or being a legitimate photoshop wizard, but all of that lake activity isn't in our first kiss photos like I had feared. Dan is a real life wizard of some sort. Dan also was extremely professional and patient while doing our family shots. We have a large family, and getting everyone to listen wasn't exactly easy but he expertly navigated through each shot and took care of us. Another thing I really appreciated about his photos is the coloring. He nailed it. We had a vibrant color theme with a garden, and my tie was primarily a bright lemon yellow color. His photos captured the essence of all of these elements. I simply cannot recommend him enough! But if you're still reading this and need more convincing, part of the dilemma for us was that one of my best friends is a professional wedding photographer with her husband. They take phenomenal photos-- and actually did our proposal photos 5 years ago. I wanted my best friend to be able to attend the wedding as a guest and so my criteria was to find a photographer as good (or better) than my friend. I looked through dozens of photographers portfolios and I really didn't like any of them until I came to Dan. In other photographer portfolios I found poor color profiles, bad editing, bad framing, etc, but Dan's portfolio was perfect and just what I was looking for. Now that the wedding has passed and we have our wedding photos, I can see he gave us the same level of high quality photos that I had hoped for. For everyone photos are going to be how we remember things long term. Dan can be trusted to help immortalize your wedding day memories. For me I especially appreciate Dan's work because I have aphantasia and I literally cannot visualize things in my head (memories are just a collection of associated words). Even just 2 months after the wedding I can't "See" the memories in my head, but I have Dan's photos. Thank you Dan for helping me see my memories.

Dan is the best!!! We worked with him for our engagement photos as well as our wedding day photos. He made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and was constantly making us all laugh. His process is super efficient by making sure that he captures all the essentials but also leaving time for some fun and unique shots as well. He was a giant part of our wedding day by keeping me calm as well as just reminding us to have fun and stay light. He’s also the number one hype man building our confidence one shot at a time. Dan is the best!! As we were reviewing potential photographers, we were immediately drawn to Dan's photos and style. We had our fingers crossed hard that Dan would be available on our wedding weekend and we are so, so happy he was. We met Dan about 7 months before our wedding day when he did our engagement photos. My husband and I are not big on having our photos taken, so we arrived at the engagement session a little unsure. Our nerves were instantly settled when we met Dan. He made us feel comfortable and confident. He gave great direction and had a vision/plan for how the session would go, which was so helpful. We were blown away when we got our engagement photos a few weeks later - the photos really captured our essence as a couple. On our wedding day, Dan hit it out of the park again, building a fun rapport with our wedding party/family/guests. Dan really knows how to balance making sure folks have a good time, while also delicately directing how photos will happen (my husband and I are both teachers and we commented on how we learned things from Dan that we can use to run our classes better!). In addition to creating a great atmosphere, Dan makes sure to consider the little things that make working with him stress-free; he is punctual, collaborative, and thorough. We're so excited to get our wedding pictures from Dan soon (he provides regular updates on his editing queue/expected time for photos to be delivered, another plus!), and have no doubt they will be outstanding!

Dan did our engagement photos for us. Both my fiance and I are rather camera shy, but Dan made the whole experience so fun and comfortable. The pictures came out absolutely stunning, better than we ever could have imagined. His photos are ART! We are so excited to have him take our wedding pictures next.

No words are amazing enough to truly capture how we feel about Dan and his photography skills. We were first blown away by our engagement photos- he captured our best selves and made us feel so comfortable in the process. But we were left speechless by our wedding photos. Do not search any further.. Dan is simply the BEST photographer!! We feel so grateful to have been able to work with him for both our engagement and wedding photos. A friend from high school used him for their wedding several years ago, and ever since seeing their photos, we knew we wanted to have Dan capture our day! He is so down to earth, funny and just easy to be around which makes the whole experience that much better. Dan was willing to travel for our wedding to Grand Rapids and we are so glad he did. Dan’s photography skills are beyond incredible! We booked Dan for our engagement photos and September 2023 wedding. During our engagement session, Dan made my fiancé and I feel so comfortable. We had so much fun and fell in love with the huge portfolio of photos Dan put together.

I planned to have Dan as our photographer before I was even engaged and he was the first vendor I reached out to! Not only is he a great human, he’s funny and comfortable to be around. My husband and I are not fans of having our picture taken but he made it easy. The hardest part about working with Dan is having to decide which pictures to print and hang in our home because they are all so great! He was even flexible with our unique wedding plans since we had our ceremony separate from our reception.

DAN IS AMAZING! My fiancé and I were a little nervous for our engagement pictures since we had never taken professional pictures together. Dan made us feel comfortable and even had us laughing. He was great at telling us what we needed to do. He even had us running though a field! (Which was pretty fun!) Our pictures turned out great. Such a cool guy. We are so excited for him to do our wedding next!

Super delayed because we got busy buying a house, moving, adopting more cats after our wedding--but I would be remiss if I didn't point out how AMAZING Dan is as a photographer (and a person!) He made my husband and I feel comfortable, he was flexible with the 2020 situation and us rescheduling to 2021, and so great to work with. Our guests loved him too--he let everyone know he was available to take pictures of couples/groups too in addition to candid shots he captured of our reception. 100% book Dan! Our experience with Dan was nothing less than amazing. We are obsessed with our engagement and wedding photos. Dan is so sweet and fun and made our engagement session and wedding day such a great experience. He managed a 250 person group wedding photo with ease and made our wedding timeline go smoothly. Dan will go out of his way to make everything absolutely perfect. He helped me pick out my dress for my engagement photos, went over the timeline with me multiple times to ease my anxiety, asked what photos we specifically wanted, and ensured we got them, and most importantly made us laugh the entire time. Seriously do not consider any other photographer, Dan is this one!

For sure a 5 star review! Dan did our engagement photos for us and they came out amazing. The process was very easy and casual from start to finish. We were nervous going into it because we haven’t had professional pictures in a long long time but he made us feel very comfortable and we had fun the whole time. We thought if we got 5 good pictures it would be a success but we got so many amazing pictures from our shoot- plus we got them back really quickly. Highly recommend!

Dan was amazing! He was great with our dogs and he did an awesome job, even after getting a bee sting on his finger within the first 15 minutes of being there. He even got us our finished photos within 4 days of the wedding!! Gorgeous photos!

Dan is phenomenal at what he does. My fiancé and I are not picture people. We were very nervous about the entire process and the ability to get great shots. Dan made our day so wonderful! We had quite a few changes in plans and each time I emailed him he was responsive, understanding, and flexible with us. He is laid back, has a fantastic sense of humor, and made the whole experience so much fun! His personality and demeanor when he is working helped us to be so relaxed and comfortable being photographed. His excitement and love of what he does made us so excited and we loved how collaborative and open to ideas and suggestions he was. We didn't have a ton of "planned photos" for the day, since we had so many changes leading up to the day with COVID, so we are so grateful that we chose such an experienced photographer. The photos he took at the hotel, in places we never would have thought of, as well as around the city, looked AMAZING. And that was just off his camera before any editing! He made us feel so comfortable and natural in front of the camera, and we cannot wait to get our photos back. We already know we are going to be obsessed with them!

Dan was truly AMAZING! He made us feel very comfortable and relaxed during our wedding photos, and we loved his fun and laid-back interpersonal style. We appreciated that he would show us photos on his camera throughout the day, especially when he was excited about getting a good shot! We love his artistic photography style. He really has an exceptional talent for capturing candid moments, raw emotions, and lighting. He was flexible and worked with us around our ever-changing wedding plans due to COVID-19. Dan was THE BEST! We had a great conversation a few months before the wedding and he really took the time to learn a bit about us and what we wanted for our wedding. My fiancé and I were so nervous for our engagement shoot, but Dan made us feel at ease and made us laugh and we looked genuinely happy. When it came time for our wedding (which was postponed due to Covid) Dan agreed to come and capture my little back yard wedding without hesitation. He made my family feel so comfortable and really kept the day on track. Also, he sent us our final photos SO quickly and his edits are so gorgeous! Can't wait for our BIG wedding in October. I can't say enough good things about Dan! He was such a joy to work with from start to finish. Dan is hilarious and made our bridal party so comfortable throughout the entire process. He made sure that we got every shot we wanted and even stopped to show us photos several times during the day. I would highly recommend him to any one of my friends or family (one of which is using him for her upcoming wedding!) Dan is 110% the best there is, I can not recommend him enough. He was so patient with our bridal party, who were less than manageable at times and he had a great sense of humor through it all. He was more than a photographer, he kept us running on time, directed those of us who are less than comfortable in front of the camera, and even learned how to bustle my dress! We had several conversations before the day to be sure we were on the same page. The final result was more amazing (seriously... Amazing) and unique photos than we ever could have hoped for!

My Fiancé and I are from Michigan but live in DC currently, so we thought it would be special to have our engagement photos done there! As I began to communicate with photographers about traveling for an engagement session I quickly learned about Dan’s personality and professionalism. He was always quick to respond to all of my questions and excitement around photo ideas, on top of flight details, and very reasonable with travel plans. Dan allowed my fiancé and I to pick him up from the airport and drive him to all of the locations we were shooting at. He adapted quickly to the new locations - trying to find the best lighting for his artistry, and wanted to make sure we went to every location we had communicated about and got all the shots we envisioned. I loved watching Dan’s excitement throughout the day, it made me feel that much more excited about the session, and seeing his personality come out. It made my fiancé feel comfortable and we laughed a ton :)! When we got our photos back they were everything I could have ever dreamed of and honestly they could not have turned out better... there are so many I like I have a hard time narrowing it down and have received endless compliments from family and friends. I could not be more pleased with our choice to pick Dan as our engagement and wedding photographer!! Thank you for all of your hard work...you’re amazing! My fiancé and I just had our engagement shoot with Dan, and had a FANTASTIC experience! If you read his reviews - you'll see so many comments about how Dan makes the shoot fun and comfortable. Well - they are 100% right! And let me tell you - if you want a photographer who is all about positivity, self love, and who is going to make you feel like an absolute Rockstar, Dan is your guy! Being that this was our first professional photo shoot - I didn't know what to expect, but Dan made the whole experience easy, fun, and comfortable. He showed us the photos on his camera throughout the shoot - and the shots were AMAZING! Dan's work speaks for itself. You'll fall in love with his artistic style & talent, and he knows all the cool spots around Detroit. And he is the definition of a down-to-earth dude, which contributed to the great vibes of our whole day. I literally can't say enough good things about Dan and his work - highly, highly recommend!

Dan is absolutely phenomenal! From filling out the contact info form, to our wedding, working with Dan was fun and easy. He goes above and beyond to get the perfect photos, and to make sure that your day is flawless. He was actually my honorary ring bearer because my MOH forgot to grab the ring and he ran back to the bridal suite to get it for her. During outdoor photos, there was a biting wind and he took off his coat so the little people in my bridal party could warm up. I just can't say enough good things about Dan. He's amazing, his work is amazing, and his turnaround time is insane! We got our photos 4 weeks from the date of our wedding! 10/10

I'd give Dan 10 stars if I could! I've been following his work for a while and fell in love with the candid nature of his photos and the rich, earthy tones he brings out. Knowing I *needed* (read: could not live without) him to be our photographer for our engagement and wedding photos, my fiancé and I booked our venue and date based upon his availability. We both agree it's the best thing we could've done! Before our session, we sent Dan the "style" of photos we liked as well as some examples of poses from Pinterest. Many times during our photos he pulled out his phone to check the e-mail and ensure he was capturing exactly what we asked for. I've always been camera shy and was worried it would be apparent in our photos. But Dan was so lighthearted, funny, and such a natural at making us feel comfortable and like we've posed for these pictures a million times. Throughout our photos, he asked questions to learn more about us, as well as shared stories of his own. After meeting this man for just a few hours, my fiancé and I felt he was more like an old friend rather than a wedding vendor. Also, we planned to do nature & water pictures with our session. Throughout the session, I was worried about my hair losing its curls. Dan mentioned after a while that my hair wasn't holding much anymore and we should go on to water pictures. I could not believe he paid so much attention to my concern! I'm so glad he mentioned it, because who wants flat hair in pictures they'll keep forever?! He truly cares for his clients, even with something as "silly" as hair. It made me feel heard and validated and that's all I could ask for from a photographer. :)

Dan is absolutely the best!! My fiancé and I were extremely nervous going into our engagement pictures. He's never been in front of a professional camera and I have only for my sister's weddings. Within minutes of meeting Dan, he had made us feel extremely comfortable not only with him but in front of the camera, too. He made sure he got to know us and we got to know him. He cracked jokes for basically the whole shoot allowing him to capture pure, candid, natural photos. Dan is so awesome and amazing to work with! We hired him for our engagement pictures, and they turned out perfect!! All of our friends and family love our pictures. Dan is incredible!! Everyone always says that your wedding photographer is one of the most important people you will hire for your wedding and I am so happy we chose Dan for the job. He is very professional, incredibly talented at what he does, and SO easy to get along with (he kept all of us laughing on what can be a nerve-wracking day).
