He found some incredible hidden-treasure backgrounds to make some amazing shots. He encouraged us to do "first look" photos and we were happy he suggested it! We were able to save some money by opting for one photographer and for 7 hours instead of the full day. - DSP handled the uncertainties of COVID with professionalism and excellent communication (not a luxury I received from every vendor) - Anna first took a small engagement session. While we were originally planning on forgoing these (we had been engaged for quite some time) I would encourage everybody to do it to get to know their photographer. We learned right away that Anna is incredibly sweet and easy to work with. - I can't say enough great things about Anna's work. The pictures will speak for themselves, but I would like to note that Anna is, at baseline, a great human being. She was organized, a great communicator, professional and was a very calming and happy presence at our wedding. You will find at first look of their pictures if their aesthetic is right for you. The pandemic threw us a couple curve balls, but Dan Stewart Photography was understanding and very flexible with our needs. Communication with Dan was smooth and easy, something a Bride appreciates while planning a wedding, especially being 4.5 hours away! Dan himself was unavailable to photograph our wedding, but he works with two amazing photographers named Anna and Luke, he provided us with some of their work and let us choose who’s style fit us best. We agreed that Anna’s work was more our style. Let me tell you, she is AWESOME to work with! Anna makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera, she takes suggestions, and her creative ideas make for beautiful photos! Not only did Anna photograph our wedding, we were able to sneak in a mini beach shoot a few months before our wedding since our first engagement pictures with a different photographer were sort of a flop. Traverse City is OUR place. It’s where we’ve made many memories together, so it was very important for us to get married there and find someone to capture our wedding day. Dan took the time, on many occasions, to get together with us and get to know us as people and friends, not just as clients. This wasn't an easy task considering we live in Chicago and he is in northern Michigan. Dan was also an integral part in the wedding planning process leading up to our big day. He assisted in figuring out the timeline of the day, made suggestions of things to do/not do, and was incredibly responsive when we reached out to him with questions or concerns. The other thing Dan suggested that we do was a walk during our cocktail hour which also fell during sunset. This. Was. Wonderful. This was by far Jon and I's favorite part of the evening. After the ceremony and before the chaos of the reception, we got to go for a walk along Lake Michigan and just share in the initial joy of being married! Dan was there to capture the whole thing and these are some of our favorite photos. We never would have thought to take the time to go do this but just taking the ten or fifteen minutes away led to our favorite part of wedding and also the most beautiful photos ever. is a creative genius and we didn't receive a single photo that we didn't like (and we probably received over 500 photos back from him, all edited, all amazing). He is professional and friendly but can keep your bridal party in line (groomsmen, am I right?) I've had multiple people tell me my wedding photos were the best they've ever seen! He's great about capturing the little candid moments that you may not remember from your big day as well as organizing family portraits that quickly (huge plus). He doesn't just capture a picture, he truly captures the moment. Our wedding day went by so quickly, I felt like I couldn't remember anything after it was over! I was blown away when we received our gallery. Not only because Dan had completed it so quickly with SO many pictures, but because I was overwhelmed with memories and emotion. Dan has such a great personality and put us at ease when taking both our engagement and wedding photos.
