DANK Haus German American Cultural Center

We had our 80-person wedding on the terrace on the 6th floor and the Skylight Lounge. By far the best value for a venue in Chicago, and they’re also the most flexible. The events team is very communicative up to the day, and pick up was super easy on the Monday after. It’s also so beautiful, you hardly have to decorate. Highly recommend Dank Haus for any event you have!

We recently had our wedding at the Dank Haus, and we can't say enough good things about the venue. Monica and her staff were incredibly helpful during our pandemic-era wedding planning--they were extremely flexible as we both postponed and downsized our original plan from the Marunde Ballroom to the 6th floor Skyline Lounge and Terrasse. The outdoor Terrasse was an amazing place for our cocktail hour (skyline views!), and the Skyline Lounge was perfect for our reception. Our guests loved both areas and were raving about how wonderful the venue was. The Dank Haus staff was quick to respond throughout the planning process, and they were incredibly attentive during our wedding. In addition, picking up decorations and other items from the venue after the wedding was easy to coordinate. We highly recommend the Dank Haus for weddings, or any event!

I had my 2021 wedding at Dank Haus and would highly recommend it for any event! From first inquiry, Monica was incredibly helpful in answering questions and helping set up walkthroughs of the beautiful space. We ended up booking the Marunde Ballroom and Skyline Terrasse for our 120 person wedding but the spaces could accommodate both larger and smaller events. Dank Haus has great flexibility in vendors and we were able to purchase our own liquor which was served by incredible bartenders sourced by Dank Haus. In the weeks leading up to the event, Monica and Charlie let us get early access to the venue for setup and accepted deliveries for us. The day of the event, the provided tables and chairs were set exactly to our specification and Dank Haus staff were on site to ensure our wedding was perfect. While I am not including photos, the beautiful terrace with city views was a wonderful backdrop for photos and the sunset. I highly recommend the Dank Haus for all types of events but especially for Chicago couples looking for an affordable, flexible and beautiful venue

If you’re looking for a spot to host an intimate, socially distanced wedding in Chicago, DANK Haus is the place! Our wedding and reception took place on the 6th floor rooftop "Terrasse" and it was absolutely magical. Before the ceremony, Monica and her team at DANK Haus were beyond patient with my fiancé and I as we had to adjust our plans for our wedding, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We went back and forth on whether or not to book both the "Terrasse" and the Skyline Lounge, but given the limitations on the number of people who could gather due to the city of Chicago’s guidelines, we felt the safest option for us and our guest was to stick with the outdoor rooftop only. On the day of the ceremony and reception, they provided ice for our bar, security, and set up the tables on the rooftop so our day-of coordinator and her team were able to quickly arrange the rest of the space when they arrived. They were also around to help answer any questions our vendors had on the day of the event during setup and tear-down. Throughout the venue, they provided signs and hand sanitizer, asking all visitors to sanitize their hands frequently and wear masks unless eating or drinking. As for the experience for us and our guests—it was incredible! We were lucky to have a clear, sunny September day, and the view of the Chicago skyline was an absolutely stunning backdrop for our ceremony. DANK Haus also provided WiFi, which came in handy for our livestream vendor to be able to easily set up the livestream for our virtual guests. Per the venue’s rules, no chairs are allowed on the Terrasse, but DANK Haus provided a few benches for our guests to use during the event. Another rule of the venue was no glass was allowed on the Terrasse. This wasn’t too big of a deal, but due to the wind, our day-of coordinator had to bring in most of the flowers and plastic vases that we bought for centerpieces, because they kept blowing over. After the sun set, there was still plenty of lighting provided by string lights hung around the perimeter of the space. It was TRULY romantic :) All in all, the DANK Haus is an incredibly affordable, gorgeous, and charming venue to host any event. Once all this is said and done, we’re looking forward to hosting a larger celebration with our family and friends from near and far!
