The two biggest factors in my decision for choosing this venue were the price and the history. The other popular outdoor wedding locations in Danville (such as Berry Hill and Mt. ...
Hermon Courtyard) were WAY outside of my budget. The facility rental was by far the best bang for the buck, with full use of the outdoor and indoor facilities for 8 hours for less than $700. The Danville Museum was extremely accommodating to make my wedding wishes come true. They allowed us to use their tables and their very extravagant silver (yes, its real!). They also set up an emergency backup location indoors for us (since it was an outdoor wedding) and provide a security guard. They do allow you to bring in outside caterers, and their staff is absolutely amazing (as long as you don't get Lorenzo as your security guard). For those who are not familiar with Danville's history, it was the last capital of the Confederacy. The Danville Museum is also known as the Sutherlin Mansion, which housed the president of the Confederacy in the last days of the Civil War. The history of the house is amazing, and was open to my wedding guests through the entire duration of my rental for self-guided tours. I also used the Danville Museum for the location of my bridal portraits. They were absolutely amazing, and the staff was extremely accommodating. We were very privileged to use the "off-limits" rooms in a lot of my photos, and they came out beautifully. Definitely worth your visit to see if the Mansion fits your style!
