About this vendor
People often ask me how I developed my style and how I create photographs that feel honest and alive. I’m Allen, a wedding photographer based in the Pacific Northwest, and my work has taken me from misty forests and rugged coastlines to the golden beaches of Hawaii, the valleys of California, the castles and museums of New York, and the serene temples of Kyoto.
My approach is simple: I tell stories. I’m there to capture the laughter, quiet touches, and fleeting glances that make your day yours. I believe the perfect photograph isn’t staged or overly polished. It is the real emotions you share and the little imperfect moments that you will remember most. Every wedding is a living, breathing, one-of-a-kind story, and I want you to be able to hold onto it exactly as it felt.

We’re so happy we chose Allen as our wedding photographer! He’s incredibly fun, easy to communicate with, and so good at making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. He...
kept the energy up throughout the day and made the whole experience feel relaxed and natural.
We didn’t have a wedding planner and DIY most of our wedding. Allen was also incredibly helpful even before the wedding. Beyond answering all of our photography questions, he gave us so much thoughtful advice from a photographer’s perspective on our timeline, setup, florals, and even little details we wouldn’t have thought about ourselves. He pointed out things that could potentially cause issues and helped us make choices that made the overall setup look more polished and photograph beautifully. His advice was a huge help during the planning process and definitely made a difference in how everything came together.
On the wedding day, he even took some photos on his phone just so we could have a few to look at right away, which was such a thoughtful touch. After the wedding, our family and friends kept telling us how much they loved Allen and how great he was to work with.
We had such a wonderful experience with him and would absolutely recommend Allen to anyone looking for a photographer who is talented, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely fun to be around!
We hired Allen for both our pre-wedding shoot and our wedding day, and after our pre-wedding session, we’re even more excited about having him capture our wedding.

s naturally comfortable in front of the camera, but Allen made the entire experience feel so easy. He guided us without making anything feel overly posed, and somehow managed to capture all the little in-between moments that felt the most like us.
Our pre-wedding photos turned out to be great, and the whole experience just reassured us that we made the right choice. We honestly can’t wait to see how he captures our wedding day. Knowing he’ll be behind the camera lets us relax and simply enjoy the moment.
We’re so glad we found Allen, and we’d recommend him to any couple looking for photos that feel natural, timeless, and genuine.
We cannot recommend Allen enough! He was incredibly professional from start to finish, but what truly blew us away was his amazing energy. My husband is very camera shy, but Allen ...
knew exactly how to hype up the mood to capture the most beautiful, natural moments. If you want a photographer who brings the best vibes and stunning photos, look no further!

fortless. He has an amazing eye for finding the best lighting, angles, and photo spots, and he always knew exactly how to position us to capture beautiful shots. Despite taking so many photos throughout the day, he worked incredibly efficiently and kept everything on schedule without ever making us feel rushed.
One thing we especially appreciated was that he also captured Live Photos for many moments. It's such a thoughtful touch, and being able to relive those little movements and emotions makes our memories even more special.
Beyond his photography skills, Allen brought so much energy to our wedding. He made everyone feel comfortable, kept the atmosphere fun and relaxed, and our friends absolutely loved him. He was engaging, encouraging, and somehow managed to get everyone smiling naturally in front of the camera.
If you're looking for a photographer who is talented, efficient, fun to work with, and truly passionate about capturing your day, we couldn't recommend Allen more highly. Thank you for giving us memories we'll treasure forever!
We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding photographer than Allen. We got married in Michigan, and the fact that he was willing to travel all the way from Seattle to photograph o...
ur wedding already meant so much to us. Looking back, choosing him was truly one of the best decisions we made.
From our very first conversation, communication was effortless. Allen was always responsive, professional, and incredibly easy to work with. Every detail, including pricing and what was included, was explained clearly from the beginning, so there were never any surprises. The entire planning process felt smooth and stress-free.
On our wedding day, Allen arrived right on time and immediately brought amazing energy. His experience was evident in everything he did. He knew exactly how to direct us into natural, flattering poses, and he constantly came up with creative ideas that made the photos feel unique rather than staged. He also had an incredible eye for finding the perfect locations, backgrounds, and lighting, making every scene look even more beautiful than we imagined.
One of our favorite surprises was that Allen also captured behind-the-scenes moments on his phone throughout the day. We had wonderful candid photos and videos to post on social media almost immediately after the wedding, which allowed us to relive and share those special moments while we waited for the full gallery.
What truly makes Allen exceptional, though, is who he is as a person. He’s warm, funny, and incredibly personable. He made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. His energy kept the atmosphere relaxed, joyful, and full of laughter. By the end of the wedding, he didn’t feel like someone we had hired. He genuinely felt like part of our celebration and a friend who was there to share one of the most important days of our lives.
The turnaround time was also amazing. We received sneak peeks very quickly, and the fully edited gallery arrived much sooner than we expected. The editing was beautiful, timeless, and natural, perfectly capturing the emotions and memories of our wedding day.
If you’re looking for a photographer who is talented, creative, professional, organized, and someone who truly cares about his couples, Allen is the one. Whether your wedding is local or requires him to travel across the country like ours did, he is absolutely worth it. We will cherish these photos and memories for the rest of our lives, and we’re so grateful that Allen was not just our photographer, but a meaningful part of our wedding day.

o the joy, love, and warmth of the day.
Beyond his photography skills, Allen has a wonderful energy that helps everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. He was great at engaging our guests, creating a natural atmosphere, and making the photography experience enjoyable for both us and our family and friends.
Allen is also exceptionally skilled at social media storytelling and content creation. His ability to identify meaningful moments and transform them into engaging visual stories is one of the things that makes his work stand out. For couples who enjoy sharing their wedding journey online, this can be an especially valuable part of the experience.
One thing we learned through the wedding process is how valuable it is for couples to have thoughtful conversations about their preferences around privacy, social media sharing, and video storytelling beforehand. Everyone has a different comfort level, and having those conversations early can help ensure expectations are aligned from the start.
Throughout our experience, Allen was always willing to communicate openly with us and listen to our concerns. We truly appreciated his patience, understanding, and willingness to work with us when questions came up.
If you're looking for someone who is passionate about storytelling, highly skilled behind the camera, and able to create a fun and comfortable experience for both you and your guests, Allen is a wonderful choice.

ial media, but just as a best practice, I skimmed through reviews as well. I don't know how much I can say that wouldn't be redundant with the other rave reviews.
Allen is a great coach for a nervous bride, and also detail-oriented throughout the process. Once he's part of your team, he's like your wedding day tour guide that makes sure you're having a blast while keeping you on schedule. While your wedding planners or coordinators are off somewhere setting up decor, directing the vendors, and herding the guests, Allen's in step with you, hyping up the party while snapping away.
Had an amazing time shooting our wedding photos in Hawaii with Allen. The whole experience was super fun and relaxed — it honestly felt like sightseeing while taking photos.

though it was crazy windy at Lanai Lookout, he stayed professional and kept shooting without missing a beat.
He also recommended some local food places for us, and we tried them after — 10/10, no regrets.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend Allen Cao if you’re planning a shoot in Hawaii!

On the wedding day, he was highly organized and worked seamlessly with our videographer and other vendors. His calm and professional approach made everything go so smoothly.
We were first drawn to Allen by the creativity and warmth in his past work, and he absolutely lived up to that reputation — our photos turned out stunning, full of genuine emotions and beautiful storytelling.
Communication with Allen was effortless throughout the whole process. He’s sincere, transparent, and always made sure our vision was understood.
What truly impressed us was his dedication — even though he was still recovering from a leg injury at the time, Allen worked tirelessly and never compromised on quality. His professionalism and passion really shine through in every shot.

y of his photos and saw how well he handles the harsh sunlight, so the pictures never looked overexposed. His style is all about capturing genuine, candid moments, not stiff, perfect poses, which left us with so many touching memories. On our wedding day, Allen was great at getting everyone excited and keeping the energy high. He really became one of the group, and the atmosphere was so fun and lively (he even won a prize in one of our games, haha!). He's also extremely dedicated. Our wedding was packed with events, and he made sure to capture every single moment. He even had his second photographer record a video of our first dance. We highly recommend him!

ith changes and photo requests. We could easily tell that he had a lot of experience and that he was genuinely looking to capture the best photos of us and our wedding party. Allen was also very quick at uploading the photos after the wedding, with some of them already available for us to preview the night of. The photos turned out fantastic and we have received so many compliments on them from our friends and family. We are more than pleased with Allen's services and would highly recommend him to any couple looking to capture their special day on camera.

We really appreciated that Allen didn’t just line us up for posed shots—he brought out our natural smiles and genuine interactions. sly and even adjusted his original schedule to accommodate ours. He also recommended an amazing team for the venue, planning, and videography, so I didn’t have to stress about finding them myself. Every one of his recommendations turned out to be just as professional and talented as he is, and the results were incredible.
On the wedding day, I was a little nervous and didn’t know how to pose, but Allen guided us step by step. He showed us how to look natural and beautiful in front of the camera, and now I understand how those vibrant photos come to life! His eye for aesthetics is fantastic—he knows the best spots, the best angles, and how to capture people at their most flattering. He also has such a warm personality that made the whole atmosphere lighthearted and fun. My family and friends all felt so relaxed and happy, which really shows in the photos.
The turnaround time was unbelievably fast—by the time I got home from Hawaii, he already had the edited photos ready! Not only was he efficient, but the editing style was exactly what I loved.

, fleeting moments. Looking through our gallery, I see real laughter, quiet tears, and so many little in-between memories that make the day feel alive again.
Allen has a rare gift for making people feel at ease. He was wonderful with our kids and helped our family and friends feel comfortable enough to relax, be playful, and truly enjoy the moment. When we needed guidance, he gently led us without forcing anything. It felt like he wasn’t just photographing the day, but co-creating it with us.
Beyond his artistry, Allen is simply a joy to work with. His communication is clear and kind, and even when challenges came up on the wedding day, he handled them with professionalism and grace, always finding common ground. His assistant was equally incredible—helping with my dress, supporting my kids, and making sure I felt cared for throughout the day.
What makes Allen’s work stand out is his realistic yet deeply loving style. Every photo feels natural, personal, and uniquely ours. They don’t just look beautiful—they feel like home. We’ll treasure them forever. I couldn’t recommend Allen more highly to any couple looking for a photographer who is both an artist and a true partner on their wedding day.

he magic of the place. Allen did just that. The way he played with the castle’s lighting, the reflections in the windows, and the intricate details of my dress was absolutely stunning. He has an incredible eye for detail and composition, making every shot feel intentional and cinematic.
What stood out to us the most was his energy and warmth. He was not just some photographer in the background. He felt like a part of the family. He laughed with us, hyped us up, and made even our most camera-shy guests feel comfortable. So many people from our wedding later told us, “Your photographer was amazing. He made everything feel so fun and effortless.” I could not agree more. If you are looking for someone who truly cares, someone who will capture your day not just as it looked but as it felt, Allen is awesome!
