They say "day of", but Alissa went over and beyond for us for months prior, and I know it wasn't only because she knew me beforehand; that's just who she is and how she operates, which I really respect. Alissa's manager, Nicole, always stepped in when/if she needed to. Needless to say, we never felt alone at any time in this process and it took so much weight off of my husband and I's shoulders. Darby House was extremely accommodating and flexible on all platforms, all while still remaining true to who they are as a company (there's clearly still rules you have to follow haha). The day ran so smoothly; I was honestly so impressed with all the help setting up when I walked in at 11am to get ready. Truly blown away by how much they all CARE and it's not even their own day. There were so many little requests from myself leading up to the day, and even day of, that were always answered/handled like a boss. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and God puts people/situations in your life for one reason or another, as well. With that being said, finding Darby House on TheKnot (I was not a normal bride - I disliked searching for venues and basically disliked all wedding planning haha) was a gift from God. He knew I would (my family and husbands family, as well) be in good hands. Boy, was he spot on! I was very up front with Alissa about my "vision" (no vision) and was so unsure how to go about any type of planning. She was so transparent, honest and helpful - I really couldn't have done it without her personal and professional advice. Almost two weeks later and my guests won't stop raving about how Darby House was the most beautiful venue they've ever seen and/or have gone to. The most frequent wording that described Darby was "magical". I'd have to say, I agree. I was speechless!!! Everyone was so lovely and I can't speak more highly of Darby House and their employees. Shout out to Alissa Chenetski and Nicole McCrate for being the absolute best, at all times. Ya'll are the true MVP's and from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!!! I liked that any changes we made to our add-ons or guest count was immediately updated on our invoice so we could track what our overall budget was. The planner they sent out was confusing but they were very responsive and helpful when it came to answering any questions! Guests could not stop talking about the elegance of the venue and the history of the owner in the separate room, great if you love sports! The included valet was one of my favorite parts of our wedding that added that little bit of *spice!*. 10./10 would recommend Darby House!!

Katarina was our coordinator and she was incredible to work with during the planning process, accommodating as much as she could to our vision for the day, providing helpful suggestions, and even offered to make a sign for us for our ice cream cart. On our wedding day, we had to make a last second move to inside for a storm (thank goodness we did as it POURED), and Katarina and the team handled this seamlessly - not to mention the inside reception space is gorgeous. This also threw some wrinkles into our timeline for the rest of the evening, but we didn’t notice a thing. The Darby House team helped take the stress out of our hands, which helped us enjoy the day even more. And we honestly can’t say enough about the venue and property - we would have took pictures for hours if we could just to hit all the incredible and unique photo spots. And the amount of people who complimented the venue space, or said “this is so cool”, or “the drive into here is so pretty” was cool to hear. If you’ve skipped everything above, just know that you can’t make a better decision than Darby House for your wedding day.

At the Darby House I got an amazing coordinator, Nicole, who walked me through the entire process and was just as detail-focused as I was. I felt like we were family to them, and I don't say that lightly. I remember when I was about to walk down the aisle, and I was extremely nervous, and I looked at Nicole and she held my shoulders and helped me breathe until I calmed down...that's the kind of attention a bride needs! Beyond the support we received, I also have to sing the praises for the venue in general. It was gorgeous, even on a day where we experienced snow, hail, and rain all at the same time. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The bride/groom suites were perfect for us while we were getting ready. My guests LOVED the trophy room and were so amazed looking at the cool memorabilia. My vendors were able to come through and set up without a hitch, and we even met all together prior to the big day to discuss details. I loved that I was able to add different packages onto my experience, including linens and lights. Overall, I am SO happy with our choice. I really felt like we could not have picked a better place to spend so much of our hard-earned money. I would do it again, if I had the chance!!

Any questions that I needed answered were addressed efficiently and thoroughly, they worked diligently to customize anything that we wanted to see for our day and they did it with ease and grace. This allowed us to enjoy the entire space, with a quiet space away from the dance floor for anyone who needed a break! Darby House provides a day of coordinator, who helps keep everything running smoothly, from directing vendors as they arrive and set up, to making sure the ceremony starts on time, to helping with the flow of the wedding. In the planning period, you are matched with this same coordinator, so they really get to know you and your event. We were with Nicole originally, but after our postponement we worked with Jade. We were planning from out-of-state, so most of our meetings were by phone or conversing via email. Jade was always willing to check on our requests or verify information. She was fantastic on our wedding day, helping keep the bridal parties on time, setting out place cards and decor, driving us around for photos, making sure the lights were dimmed and dinner and dessert were served... She took away the list of worries you have leading up to the day, and made sure my husband and I, and our parents, could enjoy ourselves! The Darby House provides a GoogleDoc for planning that was very comprehensive, detailing everything we didn’t know we needed to decide, but was also a bit finicky to fill out. Hopefully some of that was related to pandemic-restrictions, and it will be back to fully editable in the future! When we wanted to postpone due to the pandemic, the Darby House was able to accommodate our request for our preferred new date. A silver lining to this was that during the slow 2020 season, Darby House underwent renovations that we were able to enjoy! The bridal suite is spacious and beautifully lit. We were able to have hair and makeup for the entire bridal party, as well as lovely bridal photos in this space. Meanwhile, the groomsmen enjoyed hanging out in their own room, complete with foosball. As far as other vendors, there is a selection of caterers to pick from. The Darby House can provide suggestions to other vendors they’ve worked with (their DJ suggestion was amazing!). They were more than willing to accommodate our vendors, and the day-of coordinator handles communication the week of the wedding, which was one less thing for us to worry about! There are a number of provided amenities and extras that you can select to personalize your experience. There are multiple bar packages to choose from (Darby House has their own liquor license, so they supply all bartenders and alcohol, but are happy to work with you on signature drinks). There is a wide assortment of linen colors available. Arbors can be borrowed for the ceremony, as well as easels and a few decor items. Chairs can be upgraded if you would like (we used the standard option). We received so many compliments on the space all night from our guests! It looked magical! The river is a lovely backdrop, and floor to ceiling windows in every room mean the indoor space feels bright and open. To take advantage of the property, the couple can be taken on the golf cart to take pictures throughout the property. If you’re looking for a venue with beautiful natural setting, but an elevated interior, look no further than the Darby House.

great resources for all needs. I was also impressed with the proactive enhancement offer for temporary construction beside the room utilized for the ceremony. My only complaint, which I confidently deem temporary, was the lack of aid in coordination on the wedding day. Most answers were "whatever you would like to do", which can be difficult to process and act on for those being wedded. The wedding party also received an awkward speech the night before, which had a negative impact on a few members. Overall, I would highly recommend The Darby House to all friends and family; a unique atmosphere and welcoming presence.

wedding! Jade was fantastic from start to finish! I am a very organized person in general, and Jade was just as organized! She took care of every detail, and followed up with our other vendors to make sure everything went well! DH has a shared spreadsheet that the couple collaborates on, and they remind you of all the decisions you have to make, then you can each update it to keep "one version of the truth" on all the wedding details. This tool was crucial to keeping us on the same page. The day of our wedding, it started to rain after we arrived at the venue to get ready. It really poured and we took our first look photos in the racing room (which turned out beautifully). The rain stopped and everything outside was soaked. My Mom even showed up and asked Jade what could be done and she said "We have towels!" :) (Jade was already on it!) They cleaned up all the water on the patio, wiped down all the chairs and we got married at the waterside terrace with no issues! The rest of the evening was priceless. Every part of the evening went off without a hitch, and I didn't even notice any of the logistics going on in the background. My husband and I left during the sparkler send off but I'm told that Darby house staff made the clean up effort short work! (our families helped grab our stuff and gave us feedback). I've had so many guests tell me that our wedding was the best wedding they've ever been to! And a friend of mine just got engaged, and I asked her "Have you booked Darby House yet"? :) Thanks to Jade and the entire Darby House team, we had a wonderful, unforgettable wedding!

The waterside terrace made for an absolutely dreamy wedding ceremony, and I couldn’t imagine a better reception room for after. Throughout our entire engagement, the staff at Darby House, especially Alexa and Nicole, was so flexible, responsive and helpful. For example, since most of our wedding party was coming from out of town, Alexa was willing to do a late-Friday rehearsal for us. My husband and I were both the first in our families to get married, but Alexa was so organized and asked us anything we’d need to decide on for the wedding. And on our wedding day, Alexa was there from start to finish, helping everything run SO smoothly. I really don’t think there’s anything that could have made our wedding day any better — it was perfect! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Due to some minor inconveniences, such as lawn renovation, Jade was gracious in offering us upgrades to make up for this. The staff was great to work with night of. When it comes to caterer selections, DEFINITELY go with Catering by Scott. Him and his staff are amazing and the food was delicious. We kept getting raves about the food we had at our wedding. The only issue that we had was with the bar. There is a strict no shot policy, which is fine and totally understandable but this also made it that you could not get any liquor on the rocks which a lot of our friends/family are bourbon drinkers and couldn't drink just bourbon. The same thing occured when a couple of people wanted a martini. While this is minor and totally understandable it was a little frustrating when my grandfather couldn't get the martini he wanted. Everyone had a great time though and we would absolutely recommend Darby House to anyone.

side as it is outside, this is it! Not only are the views great, there are wonderful amenities such as spacious bride and groom suites, valet parking, a golf cart to take around for photos, and more. We had not one, but two events at Darby thanks to COVID. In July of 2020 we had our ceremony there, with a very limited guest list. More recently, on August 20 (2021) we finally got to have our reception! On both days our coordinators Nicole and Alexa were wonderful at ensuring everything ran smoothly and on time. I felt especially comforted on the day of our reception, walking in and seeing the preferred caterer we chose, working seamlessly with the Darby House team to get tables set and food prepped for the event. The reason we gave 4/5 stars is we felt there were some unnecessary hurdles we had to jump through given the state of the world. We had to change the date of our reception twice and when we finally settled on August, we were charged more since it is a busy season. While that would make sense during any other year, we wish there was more flexibility given the circumstances. We also felt there wasn't much flexibility with the bar offerings which led us to end up going with the most expensive option, the open bar. Finally, in between our two events no one at Darby had notified us that our original caterer had gone under until 3 months prior to our event and we had to scramble to getting that in order. Those few inconveniences we feel reflect more on the owners versus the individual staff that make your day happen... they just have to enforce rules set by the owners. To reiterate, we really were thankful for both Nicole (and especially) Alexa for making our days so seamless and allowing us to enjoy the fun! Overall we had a pleasant experience with The Darby House and we are thankful for those who helped make our two wonderful wedding days possible!
