I originally chose Daryl Christopher due to the fact that my wedding was on a Sunday and they were one of the only salons in my area that is open on Sundays. The prices also seemed pretty reasonable for the area; $80 for hair and $75 for the bride's makeup, $65 for bridal party makeup.
When I went for my trial I had Hilda doing my hair and Lineise (I hope that's the right spelling!) is their makeup artist.
After I was finished I was honestly very unhappy with everything. My hair looked like it had been done by a five year old-I had warned Hilda that due to the fact that my hair is very fine it doesn't hold a curl very well. I had assumed that since she is a professional hairstylist that she should make it work but unfortunately my hair had fallen flat by the end of the appointment. She also seemed very confused by what I wanted her to do: curl the hair and then put it half up with a poof, kind of a retro, bouffant thing. She told me that my hair just wouldn't work with that style and just kind of shrugged her shoulders. After an hour had passed, I ended up with 2 small pieces of hair on either side of my head pulled back and secured with a single bobby pin. Voila, 80 bucks. My makeup didn't fair much better. I ended up looking way overdone and scary with super dark, raccoon-looking eye makeup on my very pale face. When I told the makeup artist that I wasn't thrilled she informed me that she had only done what I had asked for and that on the day of my wedding it would be different. Frankly I feel that if I request something that is going to look ridiculous on my face the makeup artist should either suggest something else or tone down what I asked for in order for it to work with my skin tone. I ended up leaving very disappointed.
Cut to a few weeks later and after another hair and makeup trial gone horribly wrong, I found myself going back to Daryl Christopher. I requested a new hair trial with a different stylist and my hair came out AMAZING! It was even better than the photos that I had brought in and I was extremely happy. My curl even stayed in for hours! I guess all it took was a different person. I immediately booked them for my wedding day. From then on I was thrilled with how Daryl Christopher conducted themselves. They dealt with my many calls, questions and requests with ease. They usually open at 10am on Sunday but they let us come in an hour early since we had a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it. They enlisted a team of 3 hairstylists to get all 5 of us done and Lineise did an excellent job on our makeup (3 of us had makeup done). She was right when she said she would fix it on the wedding day. I looked great, was not overdone and the makeup and hair lasted all night for me as well as my girls.
The salon also provided us with some food and drinks while we were there which was super nice.
I'm so glad that I decided to give Daryl Christopher another try. I would use them again in the future.
