When I first submitted my inquiry for availability of the jazz trio for our wedding reception dinner, David responded probably within a day--the fastest of all the vendors I previously reached out to! Instead of an email in response, he called me directly, which is something I greatly appreciated, especially when a lot of wedding planning can feel like a waiting game. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find live music for our wedding given that it was a very small and intimate affair. David reassured me that he's all about celebrating US and what we want out of our wedding. Whether your wedding is “big” or “small,” David will work with you to find the best option for your special day. From our initial call, to getting him in touch with our venue event coordinator, David was nothing but responsive and supportive throughout the entire process. Closer to our wedding date, he sent over a questionnaire that asked my husband and I to share the details of our love story and the music we wanted played at our reception. David noted that we love the show, "Lost," and he had a special poster with our photo on it created just for us and for all our guests to sign. Throughout the night, the jazz trio played BEAUTIFULLY all the songs/genres we requested, and David was available to communicate with throughout the evening and served as our MC. We received compliments from our family all night and even after our wedding about David and the jazz trio. At our request, the trio learned our first dance, mother/son, and father/daughter dances; they played the most beautiful renditions of our favorite classics, really setting the mood for a special night. My dad, who loves live music, was in tears before he even made it to the dance floor when he heard the trio play “What a Wonderful World” for our father/daughter dance. On top of an unforgettable night, David offered to take our floral arrangements to a nursing home, where he dropped them off the following morning for another person to enjoy :) I cannot recommend DRS Music enough! c, it was 1,000% worth it. David Rothstein is communicative, responsive, and detail-oriented. The band was so flexible and played all our special requests. During the night, I pulled David aside and mentioned my friend's 30th birthday was the day before and I'd forgotten about it. Right away, he teed up the band to play "Dancing Queen" and dedicated it to my friend. She was so touched! Throughout our planning process, he got to know Dan and me and realized Billy Joel was one of our favorite artists. As a wedding present, the band presented autographed sheet music for "New York State of Mind," given Dan and I met in New York, and an autographed photo of Billy Joel and asked our guests to sign the back of each frame. They're now hanging in our living room and are a perfect reminder of the best night of our lives! We'd recommend DRS to ANY individual looking for a total banger of a party!

I wanted live music for most of the wedding but knew I wanted a DJ for the danicng. This was the perfect set! All of the live muscians were incredibly professional, highly skilled, and contributed to an amazing atmospohere of live music for the evening. The DJ was also incredible!! David of course was a wonderful emcee and was super helpful for the planning process! We had a great time dancing the night away. Overall 10/10 experience!!!

David and the band even got us a very sweet and personal wedding gift based on our favorite sports team and our dog. of the band is UNREAL! At one point, the sax player came into the dance floor and pumped everyone up while the band played SHOUT! They were interactive and I have never seen another wedding band do anything like this before. The range of talent from the DJ, the drummer, sax player and the singers was UNREAL - we have never seen anything like DRS before and are truly blown away by how talented they are. The number one thing we were complimented on was how great the band was - guests told us they felt like they were at a concert! My number one request was for a packed dancefloor and DRS delivered! David gave us really great advice to make sure we got exactly what we wanted at our wedding. Planning with him was so easy - he always answered our emails in a timely manner and was willing to jump on a call whenever we had questions. His team took every song request we had for both the ceremony and the reception. We requested the horah and it was so much fun! David kept the energy up - I think we went for almost 10 minutes and guests said it was the best horah they've seen! Additionally, David spent time getting to know us to make sure that our wedding was special and personalized. At our reception, he surprised us with a custom gift - two IU pickleball paddles since we love playing pickleball and both went to IU! All our guests raved about this and thought it was so unique. Guests signed the paddles and we will cherish this gift forever. As soon as the dancing started, the energy in the room was electric! We danced all night long with no breaks - everyone kept saying it was the most they've ever danced at a wedding and they were sore the next day - a sign of a great time! We had a non-traditional wedding gala that we wanted to be musically-forward, and David himself put together the most ambient flow and was the perfect MC to deliver on it. We had a violinist greeting guests, a jazz trio during cocktail hour, a serenading violist during dinner, and finishing with an 11-piece orchestra (highly recommend upgrading to get the additional brass instruments!!). Even down to the small details, David had the band wear black bow ties to fit our theme and made sure even little request was accounted for. Beyond the talent of the band, a great feature is that the band covers a wide range of music and will take requests to learn new songs so you're never stuck with the usual top 40s wedding songs. Working with David Rothstein band is the most fun and refreshing experience! Couldn't recommend more highly.

From the beginning meetings with David, we could tell that he was a professional and had been orchestrating wedding receptions for a long time. We felt confident in his skillset and vision for how the night would unfold. David walked us through the "flow" of the evening and shared with us Google Docs to fill out with all of the information that he would need to make sure that his announcements throughout the night were on point. David serves as the MC for the band so not only is he making announcements throughout the evening (dancing time, eating time, first dance, toasts, etc.), he is also communicating with the other key vendors for catering and day-of coordination so that the entire evening is synchronized. In the months leading up to our wedding, David worked with the band to create a customized composition of our first dance song. We chose a very non-traditional bluegrass song and the band truly made it unique, romantic, and our guests (especially the ones who knew the bluegrass piece) were in awe. Our wedding night shared the wedding anniversary of a family member-- David was able to find out our family members first dance song and they played it special for them to have their own dance. DRB also surprised us with a gift for all of our guests to sign throughout the evening which was a special touch. This is one example of how David truly gets involved throughout your wedding and wedding planning process. David was able to keep the crowd engaged throughout the evening, brought a bubble machine onto the dance floor, the band played some of our favorite songs, and he had a very high energy! If you prefer to have an MC/Band/DJ that is more "behind the scenes" rather than an active part of your wedding day, then perhaps DRB isn't the best fit. DRB is a front-and-center vendor that truly brings the dance floor alive and brings incredibly special and personalized touches throughout the wedding evening! Having DRB at our wedding was a great investment and we are so grateful that they were able to share their talents at our wedding.

The videos are so great but truly don’t even begin to capture the energy in that room. The additional ceremony music package also worked out great and David provided a microphone for us to use. The musicians were so flexible on what turned out to be a typical Chicago spring day, when we were unsure whether or not we were going to be able to have the ceremony outside as planned, or have to relocate. We LOVED getting pictures and videos from him the night after our wedding. Receiving those was the best surprise since professional pictures and videos take so long to get back. My husband and I are huge Notre Dame fans and David presented us with a Notre Dame football signed by Rudy. All of our guests signed it and we will treasure it forever. Our group loves a little karaoke action, and his band welcomed both my uncle and my beautiful bride to join them and sing their favorite songs. David took the time to get to know me and my husband and gifted us with a very personal gift for us to display in our home. The musicians were absolutely outstanding! The voices we heard throughout the night were out of this world. My husband and I see about 20+ concerts a year so having live music was very importany to us. David and his bandmates were exception and we hope to hear them again in the near future!

David was initially great to work with, maybe a little salesy but overall I knew he would be the right choice as our MC. About 2-3 weeks before my wedding he let us know that he would not be attending and MCing, and that his partner Kim would be attending. I asked for a meeting to be set up with Kim, this never happened. On our wedding night, Kim introduced my parents has "parents of the groom" messed up some lyrics of my husbands first dance song with his mom, and just overall was not the right fit for us. They were also the only vendor that did not check in with us after our wedding to see how everything went. Again, I loved the band and do not have regrets about hiring them.

And let me tell you we are still receiving compliments about the set! I can’t thank David Rothstein and his team enough for making this night absolutely magical. David truly goes above and beyond to get to know the bride and groom. He gifted us a lovely customized Bears bowling ball that symbolizes two activities we enjoy doing together. Not only did David handle the music flawlessly, he also offered other advice to help us navigate our day. My favorite tip from David was that as long as the bride and groom are on the dance floor, the rest of the party will follow. Which could not have been more true the band and us dancing had the floor packed all night.

During the planning process, David had a ton of availability to meet with us and answer any questions I had. The ceremony director, Alex, was able to take all my notes and help my ceremony vision come to life. The musicians learned a song on the piano, and they were able to have my step sister sing the processional. The timing was perfect and it played out exactly how I pictured. The reception dance floor was packed all night long! The band played old songs, new songs, etc. The perfect combo to get everyone up and dancing. They even surprised my husband and I who are both teachers with a chalkboard for guests to sign, what a great memory! Professional pictures and videos take what feels like forever to come in, but David had taken lots of behind the scenes videos and uploaded them to a YouTube page the next morning. It has been so fun going back and reliving small parts of our special day! DRM played such a huge part in making our night memorable and so much fun, I highly recommend!
