David photographed our wedding on August 24, 2019, at our outdoor venue in Saco, Maine. David was referred to us by a friend and we couldn’t be happier with his service. David was great to have around while we were getting ready. He regularly checked on me to see how I was doing, he was flexible with what pictures to take when/where/of who, and was at our wedding venue from noon until 10pm, seeming to really enjoy himself and the opportunity to photograph our special day. David also helped me prepare a runner sheet for the day to ensure we captured the pictures that we wanted. We have received only a few pictures so far (as expected!) and they are absolutely stunning! Jason took really dynamic pictures and the results are spectacular. Also, David’s fee was really reasonable! We learned that he makes a 3 to 5% donation of his total wedding income to a health and/or education-focused non-for-profit at the end of each year. I highly recommend Jason as a wedding photographer.
Dave was the perfect photographer - he captured all the "little" moments we wanted while also getting traditional portraits. The quality of his photos and ordering service is phenomenal. Would recommend him to anyone.
David's photos are beautiful, and when we decided not to use him he was a gentleman and honestly returned the deposit. That being said, I feel the need to warn other brides that if you are uncomfortable with waiting until a few days before your wedding to have confirmation that David will be there, don't book him.
Although David signed a contract with my dad more than 6 months ahead of time for our wedding date, I found out later that his first priority is working on a lobster boat. The information slowly came out as it became more and more difficult to get a meeting with him, and then when we finally had one set up way ahead of time, he cancelled it. Although he had an appointment with me, he was now required to be on the lobster boat unless he got permission otherwise from his captain. When I asked about a possible schedule conflict with the actual wedding day, he said that he has never had a problem getting someone to cover for him on the boat so he could shoot a wedding. All I would have needed to hear at that point was that he had already made arrangements for coverage on the boat to be able to be at my wedding (for which he had already signed the contract) and that he would be there even if that coverage fell through. This is a quote from his email response:
"Unfortunately in the world of lobstering it is not possible to book a person to fill for a day 3 months in advance. Generally a fill is booked a few days ahead of the day needed and this way works best in our industry. "
So you see brides, his "industry" is lobstering. Be warned. Nice guy, good photographer, probably a good deckhand too. But that is where his primary commitment is. I had to book someone else on much shorter notice. But it could have been a lot worse if I found out days before the wedding.
