ted to learn that we didn't fully meet your expectations. Music is our passion, and our top priority is to fill the dance floor for couples who are on the same mission. When we first met, I knew we were a good fit because our visions aligned - you expressed wanting everyone to "lose their minds on the dance floor," and even mentioned, 'if you're not dancing... go home.' That fits right in our wheelhouse. I tend to overanalyze things, which can be both blessing and a curse. A positive side-effect is that our couples are usually 100% satisfied with what we do. I want to address a few of your concerns so that future couples can make informed decisions about our approach and how we deliver on promises. Regarding the songs we played, I asked Joe C. to export the event history from our DJ software. Please note that my intention is not to be defensive, but rather to demonstrate our dedication to detail. I even keep a personal post-event journal, if that says anything about my crippling level of attention to detail and constant improvement: --Out of the 66 songs on your Inspiration List, it seems that 40 were played, which I consider an acceptable number. Our focus is on reading and responding to the dance floor while incorporating your unique style and preferences. Inspiration lists are a perfect tool for this. --We did miss 2 of the 11 songs on your Must Play List, but the night was called 15 minutes early and my experience tells me that the two remaining songs were probably being held until the end of the night because they were both bangers. --As it was one of the first really nice days of the year at a venue with a beautiful outdoor space, I can tell Joe C. wanted to make sure people were inside for the Must Plays because they were all played after 10 PM. --It appears that all of the Must Play songs were the original versions. While he might have added his own touch to enhance the energy of the room, we generally avoid heavily remixing Must Play songs. Remixes are typically reserved for making less danceable songs more lively, adding flavor to overplayed songs, and to be as open-format as possible. Our goal is to enhance the original songs without compromising their integrity, ensuring a diverse dance floor experience. This is a sliding scale, and some audiences prefer a higher level of remixing. Many guests don't desire an Ibiza-like experience every weekend... then again, some do. A Nu Disco remix of a Dua Lipa song, for example, will simultaneously appeal to fans of pop, disco, and club music without dividing the dance floor, so they're great tools to utilize in the right circumstances. --Part of our expertise is knowing how to play the best parts of songs and transitioning smoothly or creatively to the next one through techniques like beatmatching and wordplays. We don't want people to even realize the next song is starting most of the time. Some songs should be experienced in their entirety if the dance floor affirms it. On the opposite end of the spectrum, often people only know the hook of certain songs because of TikTok and other internet trends. It usually falls somewhere in the middle. We have all reduced the amount of quick mixing for Must Play songs, thanks to your feedback. --It seems that the discussion about playing only dirty versions of songs didn't happen beforehand, and I couldn't find it on the planning form either. While we knew it was an adults-only event, our experience has taught us that some adults are more offended by explicit versions than children. Kids have heard everything, trust me. For some reason, it seems to be the aunts who are particularly offended. Since we specialize in weddings, our music libraries tend to contain a lot of clean versions of songs, but we do plenty of other events and personal mixing as well that supplement these with dirty versions. If we think of a great song to play at the right time, we typically choose to play a clean version from our library rather than skipping it entirely. At a glance I see 7-8 dirty versions of songs played during your wedding that we would have skipped or played clean at a standard wedding. All of the Must Plays were the original versions. From a philosophical standpoint, we also try to avoid playing dirty versions of songs containing the N-word, as it's not a good look for us as a group of currently all white DJs. However, we will play such songs if specifically requested by the couple. I actually intend to create some dirty version edits of some of your requests like, "N****** in Paris" by Jay-Z and Kanye West, which will retain all of the explicit content except for the N-word, which will be edited out. This way, we can preserve the song's essence while avoiding any discomfort caused by a potentially predominantly white crowd singing along. Cultural context is of massively importance to us in creating an inclusive and comfortable dance floor. It was an honor to be part of your wedding and we're happy to hear that your guests had a wonderful time on the dance floor. We take your feedback very seriously and will use it to continually improve our craft. We will also enhance our pre-event conversations with couples, ensuring that they are aware they can approach us at any point during the event to redirect the energy if it veers away from their personal vision.
