My husband was the one to bring up the idea of taking dance lessons for our first dance! We did not have much time before our wedding to learn our first dance, but our instructor Kirk was amazing! He was extremely flexible with our schedules and made sure to fit all of our lessons in just in time for our big day! We had never danced before but Kirk made it super comfortable for us to learn - he was so reassuring and enthusiastic that it made everything so much more fun than we could have ever imagined!! Having a choregraphed first dance is now something even more special and memorable for us and we have db studios to thank for that!!

Kendall receives our highest possible recommendations! We found her from an internet search and could not have been any happier. We took lessons for about 6 months with Kendall to prepare for our first dance. I would think the number of lessons we took is a little unusual but we had a fairly complicated first dance routine (The Dirty Dancing routine) that she was helping us with. I am sure she thought we were nuts :) but she was awesome in learning the routine and breaking it down for us. We got the dance down and had a great time doing it at our wedding. This was something fun we did as a fun part of our wedding planning and Kendall's friendly and welcoming personality made it even more enjoyable! Anyone would have a great time with her and we look forward to future dance with her!

We give DB Studios our highest recommendation for dance lessons. We took 5 lessons with Kendall for our first dance. We had previously trialed with a different dance studio in Boston (we both live and work in Boston), and immediately decided against it due to lack of professionalism and desire to drain us of cash. Kendall and DB were a breath of fresh air in comparison - she was completely transparent with cost, worked extremely well with our busy schedules (we had several lessons at 9p) and would always keep things and energetic and fun. I had absolutely zero dancing experience (read: gangly), and by the end of the 5th lesson I felt incredibly comfortable with the Rumba - to the point where it felt natural and I even got some hips into it. I was able to confidently signal and lead through 5 moves (she gave us a few different ones to choose from) with a dip at the end. Our wedding guests were raving about our first dance, and it made for some great pictures and memories. Instead of going for one of the larger studios, go with Kendall & DB Studios - you definitely will not regret it your decision.

My wife and I had such a good experience learning the foxtrot for our first dance from Kendall at db studios, that I came back with my mom to put together a mother/son swing dance routine. My wife and I were total beginners and we found Kendall to be super patient, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and able to bring us out of our shells and let loose! Whenever I felt self-conscious or awkward, Kendall knew just how to tweak the lesson so that I felt like I actually knew what I was doing. The mother/son dance was also super fun and a total hit! Gents, I recommend finding a fun song for your mom and putting in some time with Kendall – it was way better than just getting up and swaying with my mom for a few minutes…and the crowd loved it! We ended up getting a 10 pack of lessons for our first dance together and a 5 pack of lessons with my mother. My fiancé bought five private dance lessons as a Valentine’s Day gift for our wedding in July. I’m so glad he did, we were able to surprise our guests with our newly learned dance moves, and our photographers were able to get some great pictures. Kendall was an expert in preparing us for our first dance. She was able to blend some choreographed moves with basic dance skills to allow for some spontaneity and prevent us from looking too stiff. She made having fun a priority and super easy to work with. She was even flexible when we kept rescheduling lessons due to our busy schedule.

Kendall is the greatest dance teacher of all time as she taught not two, but FOUR of us, how to dance and not look like fools at our wedding! We took private lessons with Kendall for our first dance, and then last minute added some private lessons for our parents and learned an additional dance for our father daughter and mother son dances! Kendall was flexible in adding in these last minute classes, teaching us all new moves that worked to both parent's songs, and reviewing when we needed, and then adding when we were ready. Kendall was an absolutely amazing instructor. I have 2 left feet and was dreading taking lessons for our first dance whereas my wife was worried about dancing with a long trail. Kendall choreographed a slow dance that was perfect for us, and was so kind and sincere. We would highly recommend this studio to everyone around. A bit pricey, but worth it for your big day!

Kendall is the best!!!! My now husband and I had no dance experience (and were definitely not naturally gifted), and Kendall made us feel so comfortable for our first dance. On top of being a great teacher, she's also so nice and funny and fun to be around. Dance class became our Friday night date night leading up to the wedding, and we would look forward to it all week. We love Kendall and miss her already and highly recommend working with her!! :)

Kendall really is the best. My wife and I didn't want to just rock back and forth in the middle of the dance floor for our first dance. Neither of us really knew how to dance going into this, but instantly Kendall made us feel comfortable. Each lesson we could notice ourselves getting better, as Kendall had a very methodical way of getting us to learn new things and perfect what we had already learned. She pushed us out of our comfort zones (in a good way of course) and got us to try some moves we were originally skeptical of. These of course ended up being the things that got the greatest applause during our dance and that everyone was talking about after - Kendall really knows her stuff! If you're an engaged couple out there trying to look like you know what you're doing during your first dance, Kendall is the one you want to teach you.

I went to a bridal expo and won a free dance lesson from DB studios. When I mentioned it to my now husband, he suggested we at least went to the free trial to see if we liked it since we both have 2 left feet. SOOO HAPPY WE DID. We realized how much more comfortable we would feel dancing in front of everyone on our big day if we knew some steps and had a routine. But more importantly, we absolutely fell in love with Kendall! She is an amazing teacher. She can make a dance out of anyone (trust me she did for us!)and is incredible funny, encouraging, and motivating. We could have gone anywhere for dance lessons once determining we wanted them but we continued to drive an hour and 15 minutes once a week for 6 weeks just to work with Kendall because that's how incredible she is at what she does. We are seriously going to miss going to see her every week! Our first dance was incredible and all our guests were shocked and love it!!! If you want to learn how to dance in a private session while also having fun, DB studios is the place to go!

We LOVED working with Kendall at db Studios for our wedding. We learned the foxtrot for our first dance that finished with a lift and dip (true crowd pleaser). Last night we had a lesson with Kendall who is WONDERFUL! She has a warm disposition and is so approachable. I expressed to Kendall that our wedding was only a week away and she came out with a reasonable routine and accommodated our crazy schedules. My fiancé and I were both very nervous, but she made it feel manageable and was very encouraging I also found DBs rates to be more reasonable than surrounding area studios offering similar services. Can't say enough good things about our experience!

Between my me and my husband we have 4 left feet... The thought of the first dance made me queasy of awkwardly tripping all over each other or swaying lifelessly on the dance floor for a painful ~4 minutes as our friends and family watched on. The owner and instructor, Kendall responded immediately to our initial e-mail inquiry and we set up a FREE consultation dance lesson with her. I may have inadvertently made her update the website since it now says the Groupon/Yelp deals can't be combined. Oops! Kendall welcomed us to db studios, which is located within the Newton Congregational Church. The private lessons are rehearsed on the upper stage, which mimics the size of most venue dance floors. For the consultation she listened to our song to determine what type of ballroom dance style would fit best and we decided on the fox trot. We had the option of another style, but it did not allow for us to move around the stage as much. During the first lesson we learned the basic step as well as the box step. (I know, we are starting from the ground up here.) She worked with each of us individually by having us follow her side by side along with dancing with us directly. For each class she took notes to give us specific points of improvement to work on outside of class. We highly appreciated Kendall's flexible hours as I often work quite late. So we've had lessons starting at 8 PM. It's great that for Monday - Wednesday she is available until 10 PM! In addition, Kendall worked with our limited budget and we accomplished all that we hoped within the 3 official dance lessons. Kendall at DB Studios helped us prepare for our wedding first dance. We came into the lessons with a little, but not extensive dancing experience. Overall the instruction was really good, and generally Kendal had flexible hours and helped make a schedule that fit with our other wedding planning/preparation schedules. Kendall helped us with a lot of basics and she helped us fix mistakes that we had been repeatedly making prior to the lessons. The only criticism we had was with prioritization. We felt like there were some steps and moves that although they weren't perfect yet, we understood what we were supposed to do and could practice at home. Instead we continued to practice at the studio. Since there was so little time that we had at the studio though, we would have preferred to work on other steps in that time. This might have been more due to an error in communication though. Overall DB Studios and Kendall did a great job and we were able to wow everyone at our wedding.

Kendall is the best! Everyone complimented me and my husband on our first dance. She also gave me and my father a lesson for our father daughter dance. I never thought I could dance but she made it so easy and was so patient. She is a brilliant dance instructor. She made us feel so comfortable. We will send you the video and pics when they come in. Kendall is amazing!! She is so sweet and made my fiance and I so comfortable while learning some simple but beautiful moves to make our first dance perfect. She can customize whatever it is you are looking for as well as making sure it fit perfectly with our song. We had so much fun at our lessons, it actually eased our pre-wedding stress. I recommend her classes to anyone who wants to look confidant but natural for their first dance.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Kendall and db studios. We took 5 lessons for our wedding dance. My husband was very hesitant to take the lessons and thought he would hate it. But Kendall made the lessons so fun that we always looked forward to them, Dave included!! Kendall is a terrific dance instructor. My husband and I knew nothing about dancing and were both skeptical about dance lessons; however, we wanted a little something more for our first dance at our wedding, so we decided to give lessons and a try and so glad we found Kendall. She is just so chill and really a great instructor for beginners. Really works within your comfort zone. Kendall was an excellent dance instructor. For our wedding, my wife and I wanted to learn something special for our first dance. We aren't dancers at all, yet Kendall was able to teach us a simple waltz with some fun tricks in only a few classes. She was a very supportive instructor who made us feel comfortable doing something completely out of our comfort zone. Kendall has a great attitude and is exceptional at correcting your mistakes without crushing your spirits. We had a blast and would highly recommend her to anyone!

My husband and I were looking into dance lessons for our first dance at our October wedding last fall. We were lucky to have met Kendall because SHE IS THE BEST! Enthusiastic, encouraging, patient, and beyond helpful with our lack of dance skills. Like, can we invite her to the wedding?! Haha. She recommended purchasing 4 private lessons, but we ended up booking 6 privates, to really nail our dance - especially since we were a little ambitious and selected two songs. In the private lessons, Kendall taught us the proper entrance & exit, transitions, dips, expressions, and several awesome dance moves (grapevine!!) that we could use whenever we wanted to during our songs to make it look more natural. Let's just say, my husband and I went from being super nervous to feeling like tap-dancing penguins in Happy Feet. Kendall even had us perform our dance in front of the other students in our final lesson, which really helped us feel more comfortable in front of a crowd. My husband and I killed our first dance at our wedding!! Our friends and family are still complimenting us!
