Dear Sweetheart Events

Let me preface this by saying, Kat had a mountain to climb when it came to our wedding. We were leaving no stone unturned, as I did a years worth of small details from 4 different wedding favors, to a wardrobe change for the bridal party, two table designs and even a sparkler send off to a helicopter with precise timing. With tensions running high, Kat dealt with an outdoor wedding with a flash flood warning, a last minute plan b tent plan, a shuttle bus accident which left them MIA for 2 hours (and no she didn't hire them) guests complaining about puddles, and my stressed out father upset about people stealing cigars! Throughout everything, Kat remained so calm, to the point I didn't even know any of this was going on! She had timed everything so perfectly I even would ask the time thinking it was almost up, and realized, wow, I have an hour and a half left to dance! When I contacted Kat, we started with a $35,000 budget, and I knew she'd be the girl to make something amazing for a dime. However, after selecting the caterer and deciding on the menu, the $35,000 budget was spent within the first Catering Proposal! From there, I really threw it at her, considering I had only even done the partial planning package! Also, I lived in NJ, she in Harrisonburg, and the wedding was 3 hours south of her in Virginia! Talk about needing strong communication! I handled the vendors and contracts, and strongly relied on her to design my vision, which also left her coordinating between the lighting, catering and rentals. Yes, we worked with amazing vendors, but mind you, in meetings when they'd ask me what'd I'd like, I looked to Kat for an answer. Additionally, I relied on Kat for florals. Knowing she already had a lot on her plate, it worried a few people on my side but I put the trust in her she wouldn't take on more she could handle. Boy did my trust pay off. She NAILED it. Our florals were so original, so gorgeous and so ME. I hardly gave Kat any direction on these, which probably made it more difficult for Kat but throughout the whole process she had my vision and knew exactly how to make it happen. Not once did she show me something that I was weary of, or that wasn't in line with what I wanted. And mind you, we're talking about 23 tables, 2 different settings, lots and lots of garlands, centerpieces, etc. The day of the wedding, she was on top of everything. At one point I went barefoot, and went to change into the 2nd outfit and realized I needed my shoes, but she already had them (and who knows where they were even left!) I also had the groomsmen change into customized tuxedo t-shirts, she not only made sure they all got changed (amongst a helicopter landing, and band needing to start) but also collected their suits so nothing got lost! The next day I even realized, the ring bearer had a shirt as well but had already left, and texted his mother who said - "Kat gave it to me!" - I was so relieved!!! Anyways, without going on and on about every little detail, I just have to rave about Kat because I honestly don't think my Wedding would have been so amazing without her and the team she had assembled to help her. Kat was an amazing wedding planner from the start. I got her day-of service. She came down to visit the venue a few weeks before the wedding so that she knew what she was working with. She helped coordinate all of my vendors so that everything went smoothly. To be honest though, those things are something that every wedding planner should do. Where Kat really went above and beyond was when things went a little wrong. My flowers were extremely off when they arrived from another vendor. My fall bouquets looked more like Easter Sunday than anything else. They didn't match the centerpieces one bit. Kat re-did all of the bouquets with fall flowers. She worked a miracle on them with a short amount of time. (She does floral work too) She really went above and beyond. She made my wedding day stress free for me so that I could enjoy the day. If you are questioning whether or not a wedding planner is "worth the cost" (which I did!) - stop questioning. Hire one, hire Kat!
